Purish Vega, the urge to defecate, is considered an Adharniya Vega (non-suppressible urge) in Ayurveda. Suppressing this urge, known as Purish Vega Dharana, can lead to various health complications. Ayurvedic texts and modern medicine describe these effects, including abdominal pain, bloating, constipation, rectal pain, and disorders related to the small intestine. The management of these complications involves addressing the underlying cause and promoting regular bowel movements. Shankh-Prakshalan, an easy and effective gastrointestinal cleansing technique, is recommended for managing the adverse effects of Purish-Vega Dharana. The study was conducted in 30 clinically diagnosed patients of purish as adharniyavega with an objective of alleviating symptoms arising from purishvegadharan viz-pakvashya-shoola, shiro-shoola, vata-varchoapravartanam, adhmanam, pindiko-udveshtan& its management was done by shankh-prakshalan.It was observed that suppressing the urge to defecate can impact both physical and mental well-being. Defecation is a crucial part of our daily routine, essential for eliminating waste from the body and preventing potential illnesses. It was observed that Shankh prakshalanhas demonstrated noteworthy outcomes in alleviating symptoms arising from purishvegadharan.

Background: To describe the various effects of purish vega dharan as described in modern aspects and ayurvedic texts, and to list the management of the complications that have resulted from repressing the body's natural urge to defecate. Methods: To find pertinent studies from the time these databases were created, we conducted electronic searches in Google Scholar, the PubMed library, and the Ayurvedic textbooks Charak Samhita, Sushruta Samhita, and Ashtanga Hridya. Conclusion: We all defecate regularly, and maintaining one's health requires the body to rid itself of waste. The natural urge of purishvega often, if suppressed, can result in serious issues like pindiko-udveshtan, adhmanam, vata-varcho apravartanam, Shiro shoola, and pakvashaya shoola. Therefore, the goal of this study is to compare the two sciences and identify the one ideal solution that has been found for this issue. Purish vega dharan symptoms are easily alleviated with a few simple lifestyle changes.

Different Acharyas have mentioned various Pathya Kalpana like Manda, Peya, Vilepi, Yusha etc. Yusha (soup) being one of them, indicated as a wholesome diet for a healthy or a person under Ayurvedic medication or during and after purification procedures. Yusha is prepared by taking one part of grain other than paddy preferably legumes and cooked in eighteen parts of water. Since ancient time Yusha has been suggested as pathya for both healthy and diseased person. It prevents the invasions of the pathogens i.e., bacteria and viruses, this is why it is also known as defense mechanism of the body. There are 3 types of immunity acc. to modern science, Innate (which is inborn), Passive (transferred through mother to her baby) & Acquired (adapt by immunological memory or through vaccinations). In Ayurvedic science, the concept of immunity is different, according to the ancient science, the primary way to boost the immune system is to follow the healthy lifestyle, as they say "we become what we eat". An individual's health status reflects his/her lifestyle habits. Immunity isn't something that can be acquired in a day or two, it is a whole process depends on our habits. Effects of a healthy lifestyle on the immune system is interesting to understand and is being researched by the scholars. Diet, exercise, sleep, age, stress has some impact on our immune system. As we all know that every system of our body including the immune system is being guarded by our healthy living approach. In Ayurveda various drugs are claimed to boost this system i.e,.Rasayana and vyasthapak drugs which can be used to guard our body against pathogens and live a healthy and long life. Along with this, Ayurveda also mentioned a dincharya (daily regimes) for every one of us to maintain the body's balance and harmony. In this Covid-19 time, we certainly need to think twice and choose a healthy lifestyle as soon as possible because this virus will definitely be going to mutate and the best way to resist it is to boost our immune system by adapting some of the healthy lifestyles’ routines and come back to our normal life.
