This paper aims at discussing the challenges and possibilities of response that science, education, and especially teaching have in capitalist society. Hence, it is analyzed the current teachers training process. The paper, which is a theoretical and bibliographic study, it is based on the legacy of classical Marxism. Throughout the discussion, the gnoseological method, hegemonic in the academy these days, it is opposed to the dialectical materialist method, which seeks the revolution of society. To conclude, the paper validates the method developed by Marx and Engels as the one capable of analyzing the object in an immanent way, as well as attributing to the objectivity and subjectivity the purposes that fit them in this process. It is from this understanding that it is possible to correctly reflect about the role that the educational sphere and its attributions have regarding the social totality, of which it is an autonomous and dependent component at the same time.
