In connection with the ongoing climatic changes, the tasks of monitoring the climate of the high-mountainous zone of the Caucasus are of particular importance. Climatological studies in this work are based on the material of long-term meteorological observations from 1961 to 2020. according to the Terskol weather station. Correlation analysis showed the spatial homogeneity of temperature changes in Terskol and weather stations of all climatic zones of southern Russia, in contrast to the regional precipitation regime with a small scale of coherence (up to 200 km). In the modern period (1991-2020), the change in average temperatures in comparison with climatic norms (1961-1990) is not confirmed by statistical estimates, with the exception of the summer season. Over the 60-year period, from 1961 to 2020, there was a statistically significant increase in average summer temperatures by 0.31 °C/10 years ( D = 26.8%). At the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries a steady increase in winter, spring and annual temperatures is formed, while summer temperatures maintain a positive trend, but statistically insignificant at this time interval. Period from 2006 characterized by the addition of a statistically significant increase in the absolute maximums of all seasonal temperatures, in contrast to the sums and daily maximum precipitation, the decrease in which in the winter season is statistically insignificant, and there are no trends in other seasons. Such a prevailing thermal and precipitation regime in recent decades has become the main component of many factors leading to dangerous slope phenomena, glacier degradation and significant changes in the hydrological regime.

Snow cover is one of the components of the natural environment that determines the weather and climate. In recent decades, there have been changes in all characteristics of the snow cover, which are associated with climate warming. This work is devoted to the analysis of changes in various characteristics of snow cover in different climatic zones of the Caucasus region for the period 1960-2018 and the construction of a regression model of seasonal variability of snow cover thickness (SCT) in the south of the European territory of Russia (ETR). Based on the data from the series of snow cover thickness, the number of days from the snow cover (SC), the dates of the beginning and end of the SC descent, the dates of the establishment / destruction of the stable SC in the cold seasons of 1961-2018 in the south of the ETR, an assessment of the change in these characteristics was carried out. As a result of the analysis, it was found that, against the background of global warming, the number of days with snow cover decreases, the dates of the beginning and descent of a stable SC are shifted towards a reduction in the duration of the SC occurrence, and at the same time, an increase in the SC height is observed. A regression model of seasonal variability of the thickness of the snow cover has been built. The analysis of the seasonal variability of the SCT showed that the thickness of the snow cover for the southern regions of Russia has a pronounced seasonal variation with a determination coefficient no worse than 55%. The fields of the parameters of the seasonal variation are quite smooth, and their variability is well physically conditioned.

The regularities of crystallization of water droplets in an air stream and the processes of heat and mass transfer have been investigated. Theoretical calculations for determining the time of complete solidification of a drop are presented. Calculation formulas are given for determining the Reynolds number and wind coefficient, as well as comparative curves of theoretical and experimental studies of the average time of complete freezing of drops. It is shown that the theoretical calculations are in agreement with the experimental data. It was found that with intense blowing, the droplet crystallizes in a regime in which its surface is maintained at a constant temperature. An ice crust forms in the form of a dendrite when supercooled droplets crystallize. On the basis of numerous experiments, it has been established that the character of droplet crystallization substantially depends on the external conditions under which the crystallization process takes place.

... Spatially, there was no clear pattern in changes in extreme precipitation indicators across seasons in 1960-2022. In winter, the maximum increase in indicators was observed on the coast of the Caspian Sea, where SDII, Rx1day and Rx5day increased by 0.23 mm/day per decade (Makhachkala), Ashabokov et al. (2018) also demonstrated an increase in annual precipitation in the high-altitude and foothill regions of the North Caucasus from 1961 to 2015, increased at a rate from 1.99 to 21.12 mm/decade. They also reported that this increase occurred mainly due to an increase in precipitation in spring, autumn and, partly, in the winter season (Ashabokov et al. 2018), which is also consistent with the results of our study. ...

... All these challenges are also characteristic of the mountainous regions of the Caucasus. Over the past 30-40 years, the Caucasus has seen an increase in annual and seasonal temperatures, especially in summer, by an average of 0.5-0.7°C, a drier climate, and a growing frequency and intensity of meteorological extremes (Assessment 2022; Kozachek et al. 2017;Shvarev et al. 2021;Tashilova et al. 2019). Rapid glacier retreat (Solomina et al. 2024;Tielidze et al. 2022;Toropov et al. 2019) has cut off a lot of water in places where it is already scarce, such as the South Caucasus and the eastern flank of the North Caucasus. ...

... Reference [45] describes that in all climatic zones of the region, changes in mean annual temperatures, unlike precipitation, were synchronous in time (Figure 2). In addition to the main climate-forming factors (radiation and circulation), climate of the Caucasus region is greatly influenced by the relief of the terrain, the orography of the terrain, and the distance of weather stations from each other. ...

... However, climate change, manifested in an increase in humidification deficiency, may slow down this development (Lukyanets and Bragin 2021). Despite an overall positive dinamics in annual precipitation across the southern regions of Russia, the increase in precipitation is highly uneven throughout the area (Ashabokov et al. 2017;Vyshkvarkova 2021). As a result, specific regions within the South, such as, for example, the eastern part of the Rostov region and the Republic of Kalmykia, have experienced humid warming alongside heightened precipitation in certain time frames (Shumova 2020;Gudko et al. 2023). ...
