After revision, 13 species of Thomisus are now known from Yemen including the Socotra Archipelago. Five species were previously recorded from this area, namely: Thomisus albohirtus, T. arabicus, T. citrinellus, T. daradioides, and T. tetricus. The first four species have been collected again during a recent survey. New records for the area are: Thomisus bidentatus, T. blandus, T. kalaharinus, T. onustus and T. stenningi. Three species are new to science: Thomisus unidentatus, T. yemensis and T. socotrensis. A key to the species of Thomisus occurring in Yemen is provided.

Spider identification was performed to morphospecies level using available identification guides and published articles (e.g., Barrion and Litsinger, 1994;Barrion and Litsinger, 1995;Saaristo, 2006;Chen, 2007;Dippenaar-Schoeman and van Harten, 2007;Jocqué et al., 2007;Barrion-Dupo, 2008;Liu et al., 2010;Anju et al., 2021;Jäger, 2022). Morphospecies designation was also determined using other morphological characters and web patterns (Barrion and Litsinger, 1995;Lawania and Mathur, 2017). ...
