Between 1980 and 1988 52 children have been seen in Stuttgart after out-of-hospital cardiopulmonary resuscitation. In 31 children no circulation could be restored, 21 children could primarily be resuscitated, but only 10 children survived. Outcome was positively influenced if the emergency was witnessed, by immediate lay-person resuscitation, duration of resuscitation efforts under 20 min, and administration of no more than 2 doses of adrenalin.
