Over 150 million publication pages and growing: how ResearchGate is bringing more research to the platform

December 13, 2022

ResearchGate started out as a professional network for researchers like you to connect, share, and discover each other’s work. Over the years, we have worked to build on top of this network one of the largest and highest quality collections of scientific knowledge available on the internet.

In this post, we’ll walk you through our collection in more detail and highlight some of the exciting ways we’re bringing even more research to the platform.

Content on ResearchGate

We work to ensure that every publication with a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) is represented on ResearchGate. Furthermore, our breadth of research captures a truly diverse range of content that may not be available on other platforms.

Our extensive collection includes:

  • Open Access full-text articles. Publicly available on the web.
  • Version-of-record full-text articles. Direct from publishers.
  • Early-stage research. Preprints, conference papers, posters, etc. added by our members.
  • Non-traditional formats. Negative results and method descriptions added by our members.

The ResearchGate Network

Most importantly, our network of 20+ million researchers, 150+ million publication pages, and 1.5+ billion citations is connected and updated in real-time, allowing you to link everything on ResearchGate back to the people behind the work.

Publisher partnerships

In 2019, we launched a new initiative to give researchers the highest-quality versions of publications by directly partnering with publishers. In doing so, we are able to provide you access to version-of-record full-texts from trusted journals directly through our platform. If you have published with these partner journals, you’ll also notice that the full-texts have been automatically added to your profile, saving you time and effort. We’ve already partnered with two of the largest publishers in the industry, Springer Nature and Wiley, to include content from some of their journals, and we have plans to add many more journals in the coming year.

If you want to learn more about our publisher partnerships and how they can benefit you, please read this Help Center article.

OA Full-texts

In addition to publisher partnerships, we are also actively adding publicly available open-access full-texts to the platform. This year, we’ve already added over 2 million open-access full-texts, and we plan to accelerate these efforts in 2023.

Last but not least, this year we made our content more accessible to everyone by improving how you search for research on the platform. We also have plans next year to develop new tools to help you keep up to date on the latest research in your field. This will ensure that staying informed and accessing publications is easier and more convenient than ever on ResearchGate.
