    ABSTRACT: Absorption and fluorescence of chromophoric dissolved organic matter (CDOM) in the nearshore waters of the western Taiwan Strait were examined in April and October of 2008. CDOM absorption coefficient at 412 nm (a(g)(412) in m(-1)) showed an inversed linear relationship with salinity, indicating conservative mixing between freshwater and seawater, although the relationship changed with seasons and locations. On average, except in the vicinity of two major rivers (Minjiang River and Jiulongjiang River), a(g)(412) was higher in October (dry season) (0.173 +/- 0.036 m(-1)) than in April (wet season) (0.123 +/- 0.059 m(-1)). This observation is counter intuitive but consistent with those derived from MODIS satellite measurements. Combined with the CDOM EEM spectra (fluorescence excitation-emission matrix), the results suggest that 1) Minjiang River and jiulongjiang River were the primary land-based CDOM sources; 2) The marine end-members were controlled by the South China Sea Warm Current in April and the Zhe-Min Coastal Water in October; 3) The land-based CDOM was more from sewage than from soil leaching; and 4) Light absorption in the blue wavelengths was dominated by CDOM and detritus.     ABSTRACT: A novel approach was used with data from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) to characterize the intense blooms of cyanobacteria (primarily Microcystis aeruginosa) in Taihu Lake, China's third largest freshwater lake. The approach involves first deriving a floating algae index (FAI) based on the medium-resolution (250 and 500 m) MODIS reflectance data at 645, 859, and 1240 nm after correction of the ozone/gaseous absorption and Rayleigh scattering effects and then objectively determining the FAI threshold value (-0.004) to separate the bloom and nonbloom waters. By definition, the term "bloom" or "floating algae" refers to bloom where cyanobacteria form floating scums on the water surface. The 9 year MODIS time series data showed bloom characteristics (annual occurrence frequency, timing, and duration) between 2000 and 2008. Assuming 25% area coverage as a gauge for significance, significant bloom events rarely occurred between 2000 and 2004 for the entire lake (excluding East Bay) or several lake segments (Northwest Lake, Southwest Lake, and Central Lake). In most lake segments, the annual frequency of significant blooms increased from 2000-2004 to 2006-2008, when they started earlier and had a longer duration. The year 2007 showed unique bloom characteristics due to conditions highly favorable for bloom development and proliferation. The results suggest that the long-term bloom patterns are driven by both nutrients and climatic factors. The multiyear series of consistent MODIS FAI data products provide baseline information to monitor the lake's bloom condition, one of the critical water quality indicators, on a weekly basis, as well as to evaluate its future water quality trends.     ABSTRACT: 以对太平洋与大西洋现象的观察和分析为主线,论述了年际与年代际变动及其可能的机制,综述了气候-海洋变动生态响应国际、国内的研究现状。在太平洋和大西洋都出现了类似的浮游动物、鱼类群落组成和丰度的年际及年代际变动的现象,并发现了直接与某些强E lN in~o事件对应的从营养盐到叶绿素含量变动的信号,虽然目前尚缺乏物理-化学-生物过程上长期、有力的观测证据,但是海流的强弱变动很可能是导致这种生态响应的关键驱动力。国内在该领域的研究相对比较薄弱,未来需要着力解决该领域中存在的生态响应机制、区域响应形态不清等关键的科学问题。 【英文摘要】 The impact of large-scale climate-ocean variability on marine ecosystem has been observed by comparing the sign,amplitude and frequency of climatic and biotic variations.Of particular interest are the responses to ENSO and NAO in the Pacific and Atlantic Ocean,respectively.Some of the well-documented effects involve the inter-annual and inter-decadal fluctuations of zooplankton distribution and fish stocks,as well as remarkable nutrient and chlorophyll concentration variation during the transition period fr... 国家自然科学基金重点资助项目(40331004)
