[Show abstract][Hide abstract] ABSTRACT: The grid technology enables large-scale sharing and collaboration use of networked resource. Using P2P technology, grid system can have better scalability and dynamic. OGSA (open grid service architecture) provides a framework for integrating P2P technology into grid system. However, grid resource aggregation is a key issue for P2P grid. In this paper, ant-based resource aggregation algorithm is proposed to aggregate grid resource in P2P grid environment. Theoretical analysis and simulations prove that ant-based resource aggregation algorithm in P2P grid can improve the performance of resource aggregation.

To gain reliable quality of service, grid network service concept is introduced to evaluate network performance. It is the first and important step for Grid users to transparently locate the resources to be used. The paper discusses the topology discovery service in grid network. In this paper, we present a novel algorithm (SBI) for discovering Grid resource based on SNMP/BGP4 protocols and subnet address guessing mechanism in heterogeneous grid environment. The paper describes the SBI in details. We have implemented the algorithm presented in this paper. The software using SBI has been applied on the China Education & Research Network (CERNET) and the IPv6-based next generation of CERNET (CERNET2) and gained excellent efficiency and effectiveness.

The convergence of the two systems is increasingly visible, and OGSA provides a framework for integrating grid and peer to peer. However, grid resource discovery is a key issue for peer-to-peer grid. In contrast with the traditional grid resource discovery algorithm, genetic ant algorithm firstly uses genetic algorithm to find the coarsest GridPeer resources quickly, then to find accurate resources through the ant algorithm. Theoretical analysis and simulations prove that genetic ant algorithm in peer-to-peer grid can improve the performance of resource discovery.
