Abstract

The importance of strong character is critical in today's Army. Leaders at all levels must do what is right and inspire their soldiers to do the same. Character determines who a person is. Effective leadership stems from inside a person, not what the person shows on the outside. Subordinates hear what leaders say, but believe in what leaders do. It's important that leaders develop their soldiers' character. An effective method of doing so is instilling the Army Values, "Be, Know, Do" Leadership, and Warrior Ethos.
