posed for this new record.
KEY WORDS: Lepidoptera, Tortricidae, Cydia blackmoreana, Malta.

(Lepidoptera: Tortricidae)
Introduction
Since the recent revision of the Maltese Tortricidae (TREMATERRA & SAMMUT, 2007), this
species is recorded for the first time for the Islands of Malta. With the discovery of C. blackmoreana,
the genus Cydia in Malta is represented by ten species.

Life history
Little is known on the biology of this moth but it seems that the larvae feed on the seeds of
Colutea. The species flies during May and June and again in October in two generations (RAZOWSKI,
2003). The record for Malta, in early March, may suggest that the first brood is earlier than elsewhere
or that it produces an additional generation between the two known ones.
SHILAP Revta. lepid., 35 (140), diciembre 2007: 3 CODEN: SRLPEF ISSN:0300-5267
Distribution
The species is known from Morocco, Syria and Iraq (RAZOWSKI, 2003). In Europe it is recorded
in Italy (RAZOWSKI, 2003), Portugal and Greece (KARSHOLT & RAZOWSKI, 1996).
Remarks
The specimen was recorded from a build-up area. Successive moth trapping from this site have
not produced further specimens. This new record shows that there are still some interesting species
awaiting discovery on the Maltese Islands. It remains unclear whether C. blackmoreana is a rare
resident species in Malta or just a rare migrant.
I propose the Maltese name ‘Sidja ta’Blackmore’.
Acknowledgements
I would like to thank Dr. P. Trematerra of Campobasso (Italy) for the identification and genitalia
preparation and to Dr. J. Razowski of Krakow (Poland) who also confirmed the identification of the
species. Also to Dr. A. Vives for providing the Spanish translation in this work and to my colleague Mr.
P. Sammut of Rabat (Malta) for the revision of this paper.

Contribution to the knowledge of the Microlepidoptera of Spain, with description of one new species (Insecta: Lepidoptera) A new species Oinophila blayi Vives & Gastón, sp. n., is described. Two genus Niphonympha Meyrick, 1914, Sardzea Amsel, 1961 and fourteen species: Niphonympha dealbatella Zeller, 1847, Tinagma balteolella (Fischer von Rösslerstamm, [1841] 1834), Alloclita francoeuriae Walsingham, 1905 (Canary Islands), Epicallima bruandella (Ragonot, 1889), Agonopterix astrantiae (Heinemann, 1870), Agonopterix kuznetzovi Lvovsky, 1983, Depressaria halophilella Chrétien, 1908, Depressaria cinderella Corley, 2002, Metzneria santolinella (Amsel, 1936), Phtheochroa sinecarina Huemer, 1990 (Canary Islands), Sardzea diviselloides Amsel, 1961, Pempelia coremetella (Amsel, 1949), Epischnia albella Amsel, 1954 (Canary Islands) and Metasia cyrnealis Schawerda, 1926 are recorded from Spain for the first time. Four Lectotypus: Nephopteryx pseudoflorella Schmidt, 1933, Nephopteryx anerastica Snellen, [1880] 1892, Crambus bolivarellus Schmidt, 1930 and Hylophila prasinana var. hispanica Fernández, 1931, are designated. Eucosma cana (Haworth, 1811) and Cydia blackmoreana (Walsingham, 1903) are mentioned from the Canary Island for the first time. The presence in the Canary Island of Pyralis manihotalis Guenée, 1854, is confirmed. A new synonymy of Hylophila prasinana var. hispanica Fernández, 1931, syn. n. of Pseudoips prasinana (Linnaeus, 1758), is designed. Five new combinations: Pima leucomixtella (Ragonot, 1887), comb. n., Pima pempeliella (Zerny, 1936), comb. n., Pima milka (Roesler, 1990), comb. n., Pima leucoloma (Herrich-Schäffer, 1855), comb. n., Asalebria (Praesalebria) pseudoflorella (Schmidt, 1934), com. n., are established.

During field trips in 2006 and 2007 to Southern Spain, two specimens of the North African noctuid species Actebia (Parexarnis) photophila (Gn.) were recorded at light near Tarifa by the Danish lepidopterist Peder Skou, new to mainland Spain. The specimens were amongst material from the area also counting numerous specimens (>>100) of the Tortricid Cydia blackmoreana (Walsingham, 1903) (pers. comm. Ole Karsholt, Statens Naturhistoriske Museum, Copenhagen, Denmark). This species is new to Spain, too. The male and female genitalia of A. photophila (Gn.) are pictured for the first time.

Dr. J. Klimesch, Linz, Austria, kindly entrusted me with material of Mediterranean Laspeyresiini for identification. Some rare and other, apparently new, species are treated below. I am grateful to the collector for the opportunity to study this interesting material and for the permission to retain some duplicates for the Leiden Museum collection. The types are in Dr. J. Klimesch Collection. The figures have been made by Mr. J. Wessendorp and by myself, the printing of photographs, by Mr. Chr. Hoorn. Pammene (Pammene) macrolepis spec. nov. (pl. 1 fig. 2, pl. 4 fig. 9) ♂ 10.5-12 mm (holotype 11.5 mm). Head creamy white, forehead rough, vertex densely mixed with dark grey, tufts on vertex roughly spreading. Palpus dilated posteriorly, flattened laterally, white, middle of upper edge with a black dot, apical edge of median segment mixed with black, terminal segment short, concealed, white. Antenna dark fuscous, white on upper side in certain lights. Thorax glossy light grey, a subapical creamy transverse band, dilated at the sides, angulate and interrupted in middle, apex creamy white. Abdomen glossy leaden-grey. Fore wing oblong-subtruncate, dilated, costa almost straight, apex rounded, termen gently concave below apex, rounded below, little oblique. Basal patch to 2/5, edge angulate, ill-defined; pale glossy grey-whitish, rather regularly traversed by dark fuscous-grey, narrow, angulate and interrupted fasciae, causing a rather dense marbling; remainder of wing light fulvous-fuscous with a pale bronze gloss; 3/4 of costa with six pairs of pale transverse marks, two anterior smaller, approximated, ill-defined, distant from others; third and fourth larger, oblique; fifth and sixth longer, dentoidal, becoming less
