Ensuring the social participation and integration of immigrants and their children into
the German education and employment system is crucial. This can be achieved through proper recognition of their qualifications acquired abroad, which promotes social inclusion and self-realisation (Englmann, 2010). However, only a moderate proportion of immigrants take advantage of the recognition opportunities available, with the success of these processes varying by group of origin. Additionally, there is a lack of transparency and political influence. Furthermore, this contributes to the educational disadvantages faced by children from migrant families. To address information asymmetries regarding recognition procedures and reduce inequalities and barriers in the labour market, structured and situational management from a meta-perspective is needed. We argue that strategic leadership among stakeholders in the recognition process is essential to enhance transparency, making these processes more intersubjective and improving the professional integration of immigrants.
