Authors:

Abstract

This study investigated 'A Quantitative Study on Study Anxiety Among Advanced-Level Students in Relation to Demographic Variables.' The sample was selected using purposive sampling from schools in the Kalmunai Educational Zone, Sri Lanka, comprising 120 students aged 17 to 19 years. Data collection was conducted using standardized instruments chosen after a comprehensive review of related literature. The researcher-developed questionnaire, Academic Anxiety Scale, and personal information schedule were employed to gather relevant demographic and socio-psychological data. A pilot study was conducted to validate the reliability and accuracy of the instruments before the final investigation. The data were analyzed using the t-test and ANOVA. The findings revealed that among the six demographic variables studied, academic streams and residence showed a significant difference in students' academic anxiety. However, gender, locality, family types and family income did not have a significant influence on academic anxiety.
