Abstract

Dijital Diplomasi ve E-spor Teknolojik yenilikler, spor endüstrisinde bireyler ve şirketler arasındaki etkileşimlerin yanı sıra devletler arası diplomatik ilişkileri de köklü bir şekilde dönüştürmüştür. Dijital diplomasi, sosyal medya ve çevrim içi platformları kullanarak uluslararası iş birliğini teşvik eden dinamik ve erişilebilir bir araç olarak öne çıkmaktadır. Hızla büyüyen bir alan olan e-spor, dijital diplomasi ile sporun kesişim noktası olarak kültürel alışveriş ve uluslararası ilişkiler için yeni fırsatlar sunmaktadır. COVID-19 pandemisi, dijital platformların spor alanındaki entegrasyonunu hızlandırmış ve e-sporun diplomatik bir araç olarak önemini artırmıştır. Çin ve Güney Kore gibi ülkeler tarafından desteklenen e-spor turnuvaları, kültürel farklılıkları aşarak uluslararası iş birliğini teşvik etmiş ve genç nüfusla güçlü bağlar kurmayı mümkün kılmıştır. Bu bağlamda e-spor, hem sosyal bağları güçlendiren bir platform hem de uluslararası ilişkilerde stratejik bir diplomasi aracı olarak dikkat çekmektedir. Bu çalışma, dijital diplomasi ile e-sporun etkileşimini inceleyerek, bu kesişimin küresel diplomasi ve kültürel bağların güçlendirilmesi üzerindeki potansiyel etkilerini ele almaktadır. E-sporun kamu diplomasisi stratejilerine entegrasyonu, kültürel tanıtım, gençlerin katılımı ve dijital çağda yumuşak gücün geliştirilmesi açısından önemli bir katkı sunmaktadır. Digital Diplomacy and E-sports Abstract Technological innovations have significantly transformed the sports industry, reshaping interactions not only between individuals and corporations but also at the intergovernmental diplomatic level. Digital diplomacy has emerged as a dynamic and accessible medium, utilizing social media and online platforms to foster international collaborations. Esports, as a rapidly growing field, exemplifies the intersection of digital diplomacy and sports, providing new opportunities for cultural exchange and international relations. The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the integration of digital platforms into sports, elevating esports as a tool for diplomatic engagement. Esports tournaments, supported by nations such as China and South Korea, have proven to be effective in bridging cultural gaps, promoting international cooperation, and engaging younger demographics. As a result, esports serves as both a social connection medium and a strategic diplomatic tool in international relations. This study highlights the interplay between digital diplomacy and esports, showcasing its potential to enhance global diplomatic efforts and cultural ties. By examining the integration of esports into public diplomacy strategies, this chapter explores the implications for cultural promotion, youth engagement, and the development of soft power in the digital age.

The number of participants and viewers in esports is increasing, making it a rapidly growing industry worldwide. In the Philippines, esports elicit a variety of feelings and attitudes. This paper investigates these emotions and sentiments, specifically anger, anticipation, fear, disgust, sadness, joy, surprise, and both positive and negative feelings, using existing research studies and articles. The research adopts the Exploratory Sequential Mixed Methods approach, starting with gathering and analyzing qualitative data, followed by collecting and analyzing quantitative data, and finally, integrating the findings from both data types. The study employs data cleaning techniques such as tokenization, removing URLs, stop words, special characters, and hashtags. Additionally, it uses Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) to explore different topics within journal articles, online news, and various issues related to esports in the Philippines. Opinion mining and sentiment analysis are techniques used to derive meaningful subjective information from text. The findings indicate that many Filipinos hold positive views, including trust, anticipation, joy, and surprise towards the burgeoning esports sector in the country. However, a small percentage of Filipinos still express anger, disgust, fear, sadness, and negative opinions about esports. The discussion on esports in the Philippines has evolved to acknowledge its growth as an industry, its increasing popularity as a sport, and its demands for mental and physical training, among other aspects.

The rapidly expanding realm of Electronic Sports (eSports) has captivated global attention, blurring the lines between virtual entertainment and traditional athletics. As participation in eSports continues to rise, these competitive gaming platforms are increasingly recognized as legitimate sports. However, with this surge in participation, there's a simultaneous increase in the susceptibility to health hazards, spanning both physical and psychological domains. Musculoskeletal injuries, caused by extended sedentary postures and repetitive motions, afflict eSports athletes, resulting in discomfort in the wrists and hands, alongside back and neck problems. The prolonged exposure to screens predisposes participants to vision-related concerns, highlighting the imperative of addressing ocular health within the eSports community. Simultaneously, the intense cognitive demands and competitive pressures exacerbate mental health challenges, resulting in depression and anxiety among players. Similar to traditional athletes, eSports competitors need appropriate protocols to minimize injury risks, alongside access to medical intervention to manage potential health hazards. This review comprehensively analyses the health dynamics of eSports, elucidating injury profiles, intervention strategies, and health optimization protocols essential for safeguarding the well-being of eSports athletes and enhancing awareness within the eSports community.

zet Üniversite eğitimi sürecinde bireyler, boş zamanlarını tercih ettikleri etkinlerle nasıl değerlendirdikleri, geleceklerini şekillendirmede önemli bir faktör olduğu kabul edilmektedir. Bu çalışmada, üniversitede öğrenim gören bireylerde dijital oyun bağımlılığının ve egzersiz bağımlılığının boş zaman yönetimini ne ölçüde etkilediği incelenmiştir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu 139'u erkek (%50,5) 136'sı (%49,5) kadın olmak üzere toplam 275 üniversite öğrencisinden oluşmaktadır. Katılımcılara "Boş Zaman Yönetimi Ölçeği", "Dijital Oyun Bağımlılığı Ölçeği", "Egzersiz Bağımlılığı Ölçeği" uygulanmıştır. Bireylerin dijital oyun oynama ve egzersiz bağımlılığının boş zaman yönetimini ne düzeyde yordadığını belirleyebilmek amacıyla aşamalı çoklu regresyon analizi uygulanmıştır. Elde edilen bulgular egzersiz bağımlılığı ve dijital oyun bağımlığının bireylerin boş zaman yönetimini etkilediğini göstermektedir. Bu sonuçlar, literatürdeki mevcut bilgilerle genel olarak uyumlu olarak değerlendirilmiş ve gelecekte yapılacak çalışmalara yönelik öneriler sunulmuştur. In this study, within this context, the extent to which digital game addiction and exercise addiction influence the management of leisure time among university students has been investigated. Obviously, digital technology has had a significant impact on how the modern world operates, and it has even inspired the creation of a new trend in diplomacy known as "digital diplomacy." This article discusses the concept of "digital diplomacy" and seeks to understand the evolving nature and characteristics of this type of foreign affairs. Also, this paper explores how governments, diplomatsand other state officials, use digital tools in order to pursue a country’s foreign policy and determine its impact on international relations.Additionally, the research explains the advantages and disadvantages of the modern type of diplomacy and underlines, that this product of globalization enables diplomats to overcome many of the limitations of traditional diplomacy, but at the same time traditional diplomatic techniques still continue to be effective.Keywords: Cyberspace Diplomacy, Digital Diplomacy, social media, public diplomacy.

This article outlines three major features of the digital society (information sharing, a levelled-playing field, and reciprocal surveillance) and explores their manifestation in the field of diplomacy. The article analyzed the international network of 78 Ministries of Foreign Affairs (MFAs) on Twitter during the critical period of its growth between 2014 and 2016. To explain why some MFAs follow or are followed by their peers, both internal (Twitter) and external (gross domestic product) factors were considered. The analysis found the principle of digital reciprocity to be the most important factor in explaining an MFA's centrality. Ministries who follow their peers are more likely to be followed in return. Other factors that predict the popularity of MFAs among their peers are regionality, technological savviness, and national media environments. These findings provide a broader understanding of contemporary diplomacy and the fierce competition over attention in the digital society.

The Internet revolution has affected all aspects of life, including international relations. Diplomacy as a tool of foreign policy has also being transformed by this revolution. This paper examines the concept of digital diplomacy, focusing on the use of digital media in the field of diplomacy and how countries are utilizing these tools in the pursuit of their foreign policies. It examines the opportunities and challenges these media offer for diplomatic activities, and argues that countries cannot afford to be left behind in this era of digital diplomacy as they can greatly benefit from these emerging diplomatic trends. Digital diplomacy and Internet activities as a whole can greatly assist in projecting a state’s foreign policy positions to domestic and foreign audiences. digital diplomacy helps to strength relations between North and South, it gives several chances in getting authentic information which enhances economic, political and diplomatic relations in an International arena.

Bu makale, Büyük Dil Modellerinin (BDM) dijital diplomasi üzerindeki etkilerini ve uluslararası ilişkilerdeki rolünü incelemektedir. BDM’ler, dil bariyerlerini aşarak, gerçek zamanlı çeviri ile karşılıklı anlayışı artırma ve diplomatik iletişimleri otomatikleştirme yoluyla diplomatik süreçleri iyileştirme potansiyeline sahiptir. Ancak, yanıltıcı bilgi yayılma (halüsinasyon) riski ve veri güvenliği önlemleri gereksinimi gibi önemli zorluklar da beraberinde getirmektedir. BDM’lerin potansiyelini diplomaside tam olarak kullanabilmek ve bu riskleri azaltmak için uluslararası standartlar ve etik kuralların inşa edilmesi şarttır.

This study aimed to examine the attitudes of e-sports participants toward artificial intelligence (AI) based on a variety of socio-demographic variables. A total of 206 e-sports participants selected through convenience sampling were administered the "Attitude Towards Artificial Intelligence Scale" adapted by Kaya et al. (2022). SPSS 29.0.1.0 (171) was used to analyse the data. For data analysis, the Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis tests were utilized. According to the results of the analysis, there was no significant difference in the age variable, whereas the gender variable produced results that favoured male e-sports participants. In addition, it was discovered that individuals who used technological devices during exercise more frequently had a more positive attitude towards AI. In conclusion, men participants have a more optimistic view of artificial intelligence than female participants. These results illustrate the connection between technology usage and perception of artificial intelligence. It can be hypothesized that individuals who frequently use technological devices during exercise are more conversant with technology and, as a result, have a more favourable attitude towards artificial intelligence. These results indicate that technology utilization influences the adoption and acceptance of AI technologies.

This study explored the experiences of retired esports players, focusing particularly on their transition out of esports. Utilizing a qualitative approach, interviews were conducted with four retired professional esports players in South Korea. A thematic analysis revealed four recurring themes: career pressure and uncertainty, lack of preretirement planning, demand for mentorship support, and necessity for a realistic perspective on talent. The findings indicated that significant pressure and financial insecurity during their careers often catalyzed the players’ decisions to retire. Players were unprepared for postesports life due to inadequate preretirement planning. This study highlights the crucial roles of mentorship and realistic talent assessments in facilitating smoother career transitions. The main contribution of this research lies in its empirical evidence, which stresses the need for structured support systems for esports players transitioning out of professional gaming. Stakeholders within the esports industry can utilize these findings to formulate policies and programs aimed at providing financial assistance, career planning, mentorship, and guidance to players during their careers and upon retirement. The outcomes of this study can serve as a foundation for future research by clarifying the necessity for broader investigations into the experiences of esports players and the development of practical strategies to mitigate their transition challenges.
