This chapter discusses key themes that emerged through this investigation of U.S. Christian Right pro-family advocacy against sexual and reproductive rights, LGBTIQ+ rights, and Comprehensive Sexuality Education in Africa. Pro-family developments underway in African countries are considered in relation to the shifting geopolitics that are shaping, and being shaped by, anti-gender politics. The selective decolonial rhetoric used by pro-family actors is critically reviewed, and the ways in which this discursive strategy incorporates colonial ideologies of gender, sexuality, and family are highlighted. The chapter concludes with a consideration of the consequences of pro-family advocacy in relation to additional areas of sexual and reproductive health and human rights advocacy in Africa.
