The fundamental objective of SEO is to maximize both the ranking position and the frequency of appearance on search engine results pages. Ⅱ. INTRODUCTION TO SEO Search engines employ crawlers or spiders-internet bots-to index and update websites on the World Wide Web. Crawling, as described by Y et al. (2020) and others, is the process of reading and cataloging internet content. Algorithms are then utilized to generate results from these indexes. This distinguishes it from ad-based optimization, where sponsored results are obtained through payment and require different strategies (Dr. et al., 2022; Rahmat et al., 2019). In essence, SEO is about improving a website's natural search engine results through methods that align with search engine algorithms and enhance its indexability for spiders. In the realm of SEO, a crucial distinction lies between on-page and off-page optimization, both integral components of a comprehensive search engine optimization strategy. (2023) and others, involve deceptive strategies aimed at tricking search engine algorithms to achieve higher rankings. Blackhat SEO does not prioritize content quality or user engagement; instead, it focuses on manipulative tactics to secure a prominent position on search results pages. Contrastingly, "White hat SEO" emphasizes ethical and legitimate strategies aligned with search engine guidelines (Diah et al., 2023; Sukhmeet, 2019; Rotimi-Williams et al., 2018). Commonly employed SEO techniques include optimizing a website with keyword-rich content and phrases to anticipate various search queries. This encompasses incorporating relevant keywords into the website's meta-tags. The goal is to make the website more responsive to user queries and improve its chances of ranking higher in search engine results (Diah et al., 2023; Sukhmeet, 2019; Rotimi-Williams et al., 2018). Overall, a well-rounded SEO strategy involves a harmonious blend of on-page and off-page optimization techniques, steering clear of Blackhat SEO practices to foster sustained online success. Effective SEO involves a multifaceted approach, incorporating various techniques to optimize a website and enhance its visibility. Some key on-page strategies include creating unique title tags for each page, utilizing diverse search phrases within the initial 100 words of content, employing backlinks from web directories, and implementing canonical metatags or 301 directives for URL normalization. Cross Linking between pages of the same site, providing a greater number of links to main pages, and leveraging external links also contribute to a comprehensive SEO strategy (Dr. et al., 2022; Aurélie et al., 2011; Diah et al., 2023). Content creation plays a pivotal role in SEO, with a focus on generating valuable, relevant, and unique content. White hat SEOs often employ linkbait, creating content with the intention of widespread sharing and earning backlinks. This user-centric approach aligns with modern SEO principles, where outstanding content attracts users and signals search engines about the site's value, ultimately improving its ranking. Additionally, there exists a category known as greyhat SEO, employing techniques that carry a risk of disapproval and penalties from search engines but technically fall within established guidelines (Maskur, 2019; O. et al., 2023; Rotimi-Williams et al., 2018).

the competitive online market. Analogously, the internet is likened to a network of roads,
with search engines serving as main highways. Search results act as signposts, guiding users
to discover and access relevant places. In the context of marketing on the internet, the
proverbial question arises: If a tree falls in a forest and no one is there to hear it, does it make
a sound? Similarly, an entrepreneur may create an exceptional website, but without SEO, it's
akin to the unheard tree—a hidden gem without a means for users to find and access it
(Sebastian et al., 2020; I et al., 2023; Diah et al., 2023).
. UNDERSTANDING SEO
In the realm of e-commerce, the importance of website traffic cannot be overstated, as it serves as the
currency for success on the web. The reliance on Search Engine Optimization (SEO) for generating
traffic and revenue is significant. However, the dynamic nature of search engines, constantly altering
algorithms and evolving crawling and ranking systems, necessitates continuous vigilance and analysis
in utilizing SEO as a marketing tool. Despite these challenges, the effectiveness of SEO in driving
success is evident, with statistics and trends in e-commerce bearing testimony to its positive impact
(O. et al., 2023; Gena et al., 2014; Sarthak et al., 2023; Roberto, 2017; Klaus, 2018; Stephen et al.,
2011; Abhaykumar et al., 2019; Rovira et al., 2019; Agus et al., 2020).
Understanding how search engines operate is integral to comprehending SEO's functionality.
Search engines follow a process involving searching the World Wide Web, indexing the
results, and providing users access to this index for searches using specific words or phrases.
Spiders play a crucial role in indexing by analyzing metatags, which describe the keywords
or phrases under which a website owner desires their site to be indexed. Algorithms, on the
other hand, are the coding that interprets user queries and produces relevant results from the
indexed information. These algorithms depend on signals from websites, considering factors
such as content freshness, recent visitation, and user location to generate search rankings
(ROBERT, 2005; Michael et al., 2022; O. et al., 2023).
People interact with search engines through various query types, including action searches
('Do' queries), navigation searches ('Go' queries), and information searches ('Know' queries).
These interactions drive the search engine's ability to provide relevant results to users based
on their specific needs (Paul, 2011; Nicole, 2018; Sarthak et al., 2023).
Search engine marketing (SEM) is another facet of internet marketing that aims to promote
websites and enhance their visibility on Search Engine Results Pages (SERP). SEM involves
optimizing website content and structure for search engines and using advertising and
sponsored results to achieve higher rankings and increased visibility. Google AdWords,
Baidu, and Bing Ads are prominent players in the field of SEM, and advertising agencies
specialize in this rapidly growing form of internet marketing. SEM encompasses both
organic/natural results, improved through SEO, and paid results achieved through advertising
programs, making it a comprehensive approach to enhancing online visibility (Donna, 2022).
Implementing a successful SEO strategy involves a thorough understanding of various key
elements and employing specific techniques. Keyword analysis is a foundational step,
wherein professionals analyze keywords to identify those most relevant and likely to generate
significant traffic for a product or service. Site popularity, measured through search engine
saturation and backlinks, is another crucial metric indicating the weight a website carries
across different search engines. Web analytic tools and HTML validators assist in optimizing
the backend of a website, ensuring it conforms to W3C code standards and addressing
usability issues. Sponsored results, involving advertising and Pay-Per-Click (PPC) solutions,
offer additional avenues for improving visibility on search engine pages.
The basics of keyword research play a vital role in discovering optimal keywords for a
website. This involves identifying relevant keywords, creating specific keyword phrases,
exploring competitors' keywords, assessing competitiveness, and finalizing a list of 10 to 50
keywords for website optimization. Keyword research tools serve as indispensable resources,
functioning like thesauruses with built-in word suggestions.
Creating a search engine-friendly site design involves factors such as indexable content, title
tags, meta tags, link structures, no-follow links, keyword usage, and URL structures. It's
crucial to use keywords contextually, encouraging reciprocal links from legitimate and
relevant sources. Strategies to boost website traffic include keyword advertising, reciprocal
links, and marketing campaigns. Manual submission to search engines is recommended to
expedite the cataloging process.
However, there are practices that should be avoided in SEO. Deceptive tactics like
embedding hidden keywords, artificially generating unrelated links, and generating fake
traffic can lead to penalties and bans from search engines. Repeatedly submitting a site for
inclusion or expecting immediate top rankings are discouraged. SEO is a gradual process, and
patience is required to build the necessary status for high search engine rankings.
The criteria considered by search engine crawlers for ranking include anchor text, site
popularity, link context, topical links, title tags, keywords, site language, content, and site
maturity. An effective SEO plan should incorporate these elements to optimize a website's
visibility and ranking in search engine results (David, 2008; O. et al., 2023; Catherine et al.,
2010; William, 2004; Einar, 2019; Rotimi-Williams et al., 2018; Aris et al., 2021; Aurélie et
al., 2011; Shane, 2008).
To optimize your website effectively, it's essential to prioritize individual pages rather than
viewing the site as a whole. This approach allows for a more focused SEO plan, addressing
each page's specific needs and maximizing the site's potential efficiently (Sukhmeet, 2019;
Harshal et al., 2021; Rachel et al., 2015).
Conducting a thorough site assessment is a crucial step in the SEO process. The assessment
document should outline the current status of key SEO elements for each page, including
site/page tagging, page content, site links, and site map. These elements are essential for
search engine indexing, and regular checks ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of these
components (O. et al., 2023; David, 2008; Dr. et al., 2022).
The SEO plan should resemble a comprehensive business plan, incorporating background
information, marketing strategies, plans for growth, and measures to address potential
challenges. Following up on the plan is crucial, allowing for periodic checks, ideally every
three to six months, to assess the effectiveness of SEO efforts (Sukhmeet, 2019; Harshal et
al., 2021).
Understanding organic SEO involves recognizing its multifaceted nature, combining content
optimization, quality link generation, site tagging, and other elements. Achieving organic
SEO requires careful consideration of various aspects of web design, with the ultimate goal
of naturally placing the website in search engine rankings. Organic SEO, when
complemented with pay-per-click or keyword advertising programs, can enhance a site's
visibility in search engine result pages (Sukhmeet, 2019; Harshal et al., 2021).
Creating compelling website content is a key aspect of SEO-friendly sites. Keyword selection
is crucial, with a focus on using two or three relevant keywords per page to maintain
effectiveness and avoid keyword stuffing. Keyword density should be kept within the range
of 5 to 7 percent, as exceeding or falling below this range can adversely affect rankings.
Regularly updating content through blogs or interactive forums contributes to a positive
relationship with search engines, ensuring crawlers find fresh, relevant material during
indexing (Sarthak et al., 2023; Howard, 1997).
In summary, an effective SEO strategy involves prioritizing individual pages, conducting a
thorough site assessment, creating a detailed SEO plan, and understanding the multifaceted
nature of organic SEO. Regular follow-ups and a focus on quality content contribute to
sustained success in optimizing website visibility and rankings.
Duplicate content poses a significant challenge in website development, often arising from
shortcuts such as purchasing or scraping content from other sites. Search engines now factor
in content freshness in their algorithms, and having duplicated content across numerous
websites can lead to low rankings or even delisting from search engine indexes (O. et al.,
2023; Kavita et al., 2018).
Search engines identify four types of duplicate content, each impacting search rankings
negatively. Highly distributed articles, common in various sites, risk being labeled duplicate.
Product descriptions on e-commerce pages are often skipped by crawlers, potentially
affecting the overall indexing process. Duplicate web pages, which offer no unique value, and
content scraping, repackaging others' content as one's own, are also detrimental to search
rankings. Hidden pages within a website, part of a hidden SEO strategy, can lead to a drastic
drop in site ranking (Rizwan et al., 2020; Sam, 2023).
Keywords play a crucial role in achieving high search engine rankings. Using them correctly
significantly increases website visibility. Brand keywords associated with your business and
generic keywords related to your products or services are both essential. The right selection
of keywords ensures your site appears prominently in search results, attracting targeted
traffic. Broad keywords and specific key phrases contribute differently to search engine
rankings, with phrases often providing more specificity and higher rankings (Zhi et al., 2020;
Siddharth et al., 2022).
Determining the right keyword density is challenging, with opinions varying. It is generally a
ratio of the number of keywords to the total words on a page. While some experts suggest a
density of five to seven percent, there is no definitive consensus. Analyzing competitors'
source code can provide insights into their keyword strategies. Organic keywords, those not
purchased through advertising, can be identified using web analytics tools, providing
valuable information for optimizing content and driving traffic (Xiangdong, 2019; O. et al.,
2023; Sarthak et al., 2023).
In summary, avoiding duplicate content, selecting relevant keywords, and understanding their
density are critical for effective search engine optimization. Regularly updating content and
staying informed about organic keywords enhance a website's chances of achieving high
rankings and attracting targeted traffic.
Keyword stuffing, the practice of excessively using specific keywords on a webpage, may
offer temporary improvements in page ranking but can lead to severe consequences in the
long run. Search engine crawlers quickly detect this manipulation and respond by dropping
the site deeper in rankings or removing it entirely. It is a black-hat SEO technique that should
be avoided, emphasizing the importance of due diligence in keyword research to prevent
unintentional violations (Herbert et al., 2013; Bodunde, 2023).
Pay-per-click (PPC) programs present advantages over traditional search engine optimization,
requiring no changes to site design and offering quick implementation. They enable bidding
on keywords for targeted traffic, providing a rapid and efficient means of generating website
visits. Understanding keywords is crucial for effective PPC campaigns, ensuring better
targeting and optimal results. However, PPC ads may be recognized as paid advertisements
by some search engines, necessitating multiple campaigns for broader visibility (Tom et al.,
2011; Alexandre et al., 1998).
When considering PPC services, various factors should be assessed, including monthly
search volumes, affiliations, terms of service, fraud prevention measures, and control over
listing appearance. PPC marketing involves bidding on keywords for search engine
placement, with two types: one paying for a SERP ranking and a per-click fee, and the other
bidding on keywords associated with text advertisements. Determining the value of each
visitor to a website involves analyzing historical data on site visitors and sales. Once the
average visitor value is known, users can evaluate different keywords for bidding in PPC
campaigns, clarifying goals and considering various PPC program categories beyond
keyword marketing (Heni et al., 2017; Xin-Sheng et al., 2020).
Keyword pay-per-click (PPC) programs, especially the commonly used keyword PPC
programs, focus on bidding for keywords associated with a website to determine its
placement in search engine results. It is emphasized that the effectiveness of broad or
narrowly focused terms depends on the nature of the business. Product PPC programs,
requiring a product feed, allow businesses to bid on product listings, while service PPC
programs, similar but focused on services, also demand an RSS feed. An additional category
is pay-per-call, where search results include a phone number, and charges are incurred for
connected calls.
In competitive environments, it's crucial to select valid keywords through various sources,
including personal product knowledge, customer input, and analyzing competitors' websites.
Keyword suggestion tools play a vital role in this process, helping to uncover keywords not
initially considered and providing information on search volumes and competition. Tools like
Overture Keyword Selector, Wordtracker, Trellian Keyword Discovery, and Google AdWords
Keyword Tool are commonly used for this purpose.
Keyword competitive research involves understanding the market demand for specific terms
and assessing the competition. By utilizing keyword suggestion tools, businesses can make
informed decisions about the keywords they target, considering both search volumes and the
level of competition. This approach enhances the effectiveness of search engine optimization
(SEO) and search engine marketing (SEM) activities, ensuring a strategic and data-driven
approach to keyword selection (Marc et al., 2005; Jan, 2013; Christoph et al., 2022; Shaun et
al., 2021; You et al., 2014).
In conducting thorough and efficient keyword research, certain guidelines should be
followed. First, approach the search from the perspective of potential customers, aiming to
understand their preferences. Select a broad range of relevant keywords and phrases,
monitoring their performance to identify those attracting the target audience. Emphasize
medium-competitive keywords, striking a balance between effectiveness and budget
considerations.
Understanding Google's algorithms is crucial for effective SEO efforts. Several key
algorithms impact search engine rankings:
1. Google Panda: Focuses on content quality and user experience.
2. Google Penguin: Targets spammy backlink profiles and rewards quality backlinks.
3. Google Hummingbird: Aims to understand the meaning behind search queries for more
accurate results.
4. Google Pigeon: Influences local search results, emphasizing local businesses.
5. Google Fred: Targets low-quality content and aggressive advertising.
6. RankBrain: An AI system that interprets ambiguous queries for better results.
7. Google BERT: Enhances context understanding for improved user intent interpretation.
8. Mobile-First Indexing: Prioritizes mobile-friendly websites in rankings.
9. Core Web Vitals: Focuses on user experience with criteria like page loading speed.
The working of Google algorithms involves crawling, indexing, and ranking, with periodic
updates to improve results and combat spam. SEO strategies aligned with these algorithms
include focusing on quality content, building high-quality backlinks, mobile optimization,
local SEO, prioritizing user experience, aligning with natural language, adhering to
guidelines, and adapting strategies based on algorithm updates. Regular monitoring and
adaptation are crucial for sustained SEO success (Rovira et al., 2019; Maryam et al., 2021;
Tamrerk et al., 2014; Muhammad 2021; Maryam et al., 2022).
Understanding Google's algorithms is paramount for successful SEO, with a focus on
delivering valuable content and ensuring a positive user experience. In crafting articles, it's
essential to use keywords strategically without resorting to keyword stuffing.
A crucial SEO tip involves judiciously incorporating primary, secondary, and long-tail
keywords within the content. The meta description is a valuable space for including a
secondary keyword alongside the primary one, maximizing SEO impact. Furthermore,
aligning the primary keyword with the title and introducing it early in the first 200 words is
crucial, given Google's scrutiny. The first paragraph should ideally include the primary
keyword, maintaining content quality.
For a 1000-word article, an appropriate density of the primary keyword is around 7-10 times,
ensuring even distribution throughout the text. Regularly updating pages with different yet
related keywords helps diversify content. Integrating keywords into headings (H1, H2, H3),
Alt text, and the last 200-300 words with a Call To Action (CTA) contributes to a
comprehensive SEO strategy. Additionally, incorporating keywords into URLs and anchor
text links enhances the overall optimization strategy.
