The Lorentz Transformation
I. The Lorentz transformation is observed in optics as the return-path
longitudinal Doppler effect [1], and the maths also applies to the optical
transverse Doppler effect. It further applies to the fields surrounding charged
objects and how these fields alter when the source charge is in motion relative
to the wave-carrying medium. An electrostatic field morphs into a magnetic
field as the source charge accelerates towards the speed of light, [2].
The commonality between the optical Doppler effect and the transformation
of fields in motion must therefore be rooted in the fabric of the physical medium
within which electromagnetic waves propagate, and within which a magnetic
field is constructed.
Radiation Pressure
II. The equation E = mc2 has got no immediate connection to the Lorentz
transformation. It relates to the energy in wireless electromagnetic radiation,
and it can be derived by considering the momentum of the radiation in
conjunction with Maxwell’s equation for radiation pressure, [3].
Conclusion
III. Except in the case of tiny rotating electron-positron dipoles whose
circumferential speed is equal to the speed of light, the Lorentz transformation
cannot be applied to the kinematics of particle motion, at least not without
introducing some kind of scaling factor to take account of the complexities of
the atoms and molecules of ponderable matter. Both E = mc2 and the Lorentz
transformation only relate either to wireless electromagnetic radiation or to the
tiny dipolar vortices that comprise the wave-carrying medium, known as
luminiferous medium, [4], [5], [6]. These tiny vortices are in fact the tiny rotating
electron-positron dipoles mentioned above, [3], [7]. The equation E = mc2 applies
to the centrifugal pressure in the equatorial plane of the vortices [3], [8]. and as

well as deriving it from Maxwell’s radiation pressure equation, it can also be
derived from electron-positron pair annihilation and production, because this
equation is ultimately just Newton’s equation for the speed of a wave in an
elastic solid, the elastic solid in question being comprised of electrons and
positrons, [9], [10].
As for the Lorentz transformation, it is not a coordinate frame
transformation at all. It relates to the precession of the tiny dipolar vortices in
the fields surrounding charged objects that are accelerating through the
luminiferous medium, [11]. There is no time dilation. The time terms refer
exclusively to the angular frequency of the tiny vortices that fill all of space,
and without the presence of this sea of vortices, the Lorentz transformation is
meaningless.
In the case of EM radiation being absorbed by targets that are in motion
through the luminiferous medium, E = mc2 and the Lorentz transformation
combine together into the energy-momentum four-vector to yield the relevant
energy changes. This is important when it comes to atomic clocks in orbit in the
Global Positioning System, [12].
The so-called relativistic mass, which is inferred from the energy-
momentum four-vector, is merely a velocity dependent product involving actual
mass. It should not be read that the actual mass itself increases with speed.

There are two physical effects which cause atomic clocks to run slower. These are motion and gravity, and the rate of retardation can be quantified using equations that are closely related to the equations of relativity. This article will examine why this should be, and what the common physical mechanism is between motion and escape velocity that results in these two factors having an identical physical effect on the clock mechanism.

The purpose is to show that the equation E = mc^2 was already implicit in Maxwell's 1861 paper "On Physical Lines of Force" and that it doesn't mean that mass is equivalent to energy, but rather it relates to the propagation of electromagnetic radiation through a sea of rotating electron-positron dipoles which pervades all of space.

A summary of how Maxwell used the experimental result of the 1855 Weber-Kohlrausch experiment in order to establish that light is a transverse wave in the same elastic solid that is the cause of electric and magnetic phenomena. 1855 was the first historical connection between the speed of light and electromagnetism.

The historical linkage between optics and electromagnetism can be traced back to the year 1855, when Wilhelm Eduard Weber and Rudolf Kohlrausch, by discharging a Leyden Jar (a capacitor), demonstrated that the ratio of the electrostatic and electrodynamic units of charge is equal to c√2, where c is the directly measured speed of light. Although not initially aware of the connection to the speed of light, Weber interpreted c√2 as a kind of mutual escape velocity for two elements of electricity in relative motion, such as would enable the induced magnetic force to overcome the mutual electrostatic force. A few years later, James Clerk Maxwell converted this ratio from electrodynamic units to electromagnetic units, hence exposing the speed of light directly. On connecting Weber’s ratio to the dielectric constant in an all-pervading elastic solid, Maxwell concluded that light consists in the transverse undulations of the same medium that is the cause of electric and magnetic phenomena. The differing perspectives of Weber and Maxwell can be reconciled by linking the speed of light to the circumferential speed of the electric particles surrounding the tiny molecular vortices that Maxwell believed to be the constituent units of the luminiferous medium. If we consider these molecular vortices to be tiny electric current circulations, mutually aligned along their rotation axes to form magnetic lines of force, magnetic repulsion can then be explained in terms of centrifugal pressure acting sideways from these field lines. And if these molecular vortices should take the more precise dipolar form of an electron and a positron in mutual orbit, we can then further explain magnetic attraction, this time in terms of the more fundamental electrostatic force being channeled along the double helix of electrons and positrons that forms a magnetic line of force.

J.C. Maxwell, F.R.S., professor of Natural Philosophy in King's College, London, UK, shares his views on the Theory of Molecular Vortices applied to Statical Electricity. He conceived the rotating to be the substance of certain cells, divided from each other by cell-walls composed of particles that were small as compared with the cells. The theory stated that the particles that formed the partitions between the cells constituted the matter of electricity. The motion of these particles constituted an electric current, the tangential force with which the particles were pressed by the matter of the cells was electromotive force. The pressure of the particles on each other corresponded to the tension or potential of the electricity. It was found that electromotive force acting on a dielectric produced a state of polarization of its parts similar to the polarity of the particles of iron under the influence of a magnet.
