This chapter represents the summation of the book. As such it brings together the three main sections of this work that dealt with, first, the conceptual ‘foundations’ of Knowledge Management, second, the ‘structures’ required to build a specific body of police knowledge, and, third, specific ‘applications’ for managing police knowledge. The focus of this chapter, therefore, is to review the inter-related nature of these Knowledge Management foundations, structures, and applications pertinent to police knowledge. This review will enable policing and the wider law enforcement community to craft a comprehensive policy on Knowledge Management that is applicable to their specific contexts.

Features of the Concept of Legitimation in Russian Law Enforcement

[Show full abstract] picture of the effectiveness of domestic law enforcement, and therefore, the paper attempts to describe the concept of legitimation at this stage. Purpose: to propose explanatory models of the legitimation of norms in the process of law enforcement in the domestic legal system. Methods: the research methodology includes the socio-legal approach, the comparative law method, the system analysis, and the functional approach. As a result of the conducted research, the mechanisms of legitimation and delegitimization of legal norms in the context of domestic law enforcement are described and substantiated; the variability of such legitimation is shown and classified. Conclusions: like legislative norms, law enforcement decisions can also be included in the legitimation process. At the stage of law enforcement, legitimation may occur at the time when the law enforcement officer makes his decision on the case under consideration, as well as at the stage of execution of the decision by the person to whom it is addressed. In this regard, it is correct to draw a conclusion about the assessment of the effectiveness of the law enforcement process not by quantitative parameters of initiated or resolved cases but from the point of view of the qualitative parameter of the legitimacy of law enforcement decisions.

Utilization of AI in Optimizing Supervision of Handling of General Criminal Acts by Law Enforcement...

A simulated quantitative research design was employed using a pre-test/post-test control group approach. Two hypothetical groups of 50 officers each were observed: an experimental group receiving AI-based supervision and a control group under traditional supervision. Data were collected before and after the intervention to assess performance changes. The results showed that AI-based supervision significantly reduced procedural errors, shortened case processing time, and increased case completion rates compared to traditional methods. Independent samples t-tests confirmed the statistical significance of these improvements (p < 0.001). The study concludes that AI has strong potential to enhance supervisory effectiveness and operational efficiency in law enforcement.
