INFRARES Towards resilient transportation infrastructure in a multi-hazard environment
Webpage: https://www.infrares.gr/
Funding: Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (HFRI)
Project news
✓Ground seismic shaking may induce damage on
underground structures and tunnels
✓An analytical framework for seismic vulnerability
assessment of tunnels against ground seismic
shaking in the transverse direction is currently
under development in the frame of research
project INFRARES
✓Advanced numerical models of the ground-
tunnel configurations are being used to evaluate
the capacity and demand of examined tunnels,
accounting for all nonlinearities (ground, liner,
interface)
✓The application of the methodology on various
configurations leads to the proposal of new
fragility functions for the assessment of tunnels
against ground seismic shaking
Is it possible to evaluate the vulnerability of tunnels against ground seismic
shaking?
COMPDYN 2023: The team
members of INFRARES project
attended the 9th International
Conference on Computational
Methods in Structural Dynamics
and Earthquake Engineering
(COMPDYN 2023), held in
Athens, Greece, in June, with
two presentations:
•“Probabilistic seismic demand
models for the assessment of
tunnels and underground
structures” by Dr. Tsinidis
(Link)
•“Resilience assessment of
road bridges in multi-hazard
environment” by Dr.
Karatzetzou (Link)
