Introduction: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a disorder involving infrequent, irregular or prolonged menstrual periods, caused often by excess male hormone (androgen) levels. The ovaries develop numerous small collections of fluid — called follicles — and may fail to regularly release eggs. PCOS is a complex disorder of uncertain etiology, having strong evidence that it is a genetic disease. This paper presents a case of PCOS treated successfully by Yoga Prana Vidya healing protocols. Method: This report uses case study method of investigating the case of a 22-year-old female diagnosed with having PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) during 2015. First symptoms were heavy menstrual flow accompanied by weakness. A Gynaecologist advised Ultrasound, full body test that revealed multiple cysts. The doctor prescribed steroids for treatment of this condition without any improvement, and instead deterioration was taking place. Her medical history before PCOS showed that she had sinusitis, low Iron count in blood and irregular periods. Results: The patient joined YPV from January 2017. She started taking healings from a senior YPV trainer from March, 2017, when she stopped taking medications. The senior YPV trainer helped the patient greatly through healings and constant nurturing. Slowly and gradually through healings, meditations, physical exercises, rhythmic breathing, forgiveness and learning lessons over the course of three years, the patient began to recover from march 2017 onwards. Conclusion: PCOS is one of the most important endocrine female disorders affecting in the reproductive age and may lead to serious complications, if not given due care and attention. Scientific studies are needed to determine the exact etiology of PCOS, and methods of proper management. Further research using YPV with appropriate number of samples of cases similar to this case is recommended to throw more light on treatment and normalization of this condition to give renewed life to patients in the society at large.

Introduction Fractures of the zygomatic bone can present with complicated aesthetic and neurological pathology. Specifically, management of isolated zygomatic fracture has been sparsely discussed in the literature, and most studies are based upon older techniques. Here, we compare the results of 2 critical operative techniques as well as review the available literature in the setting of isolated zygomatic fractures. Methods A retrospective chart review was performed at our institution from 2010 to 2018 examining for patients who had sustained an isolated zygomatic fracture confirmed by computed tomography scan. Patients were excluded if they sustained additional maxillofacial fractures. Demographical information, symptoms on presentation, fracture management modality, and postoperative course were all collected and examined. Results A total of 218 patients were identified for inclusion. The average age of this cohort was 45.5 ± 18 years, with 77.5% being male. Assault (55%) was most the frequent cause of injury with accidents being the least common (17.9%). Most patients (78.8%) underwent nonoperative management. Patients who underwent operation more often presented with zygomatic deformity (97.7% vs 18.4%), paresthesia (29.5% vs 2.9%), and trismus (29.5% vs 6.9%) when compared to their nonoperatively managed counterparts. In all, 44 operatively managed patients underwent open reduction with or without eternal fixation (Gillies Approach vs Keen Approach). There were no significant differences in the presence of zygomatic deformity, paresthesia, and trismus between the 2 operative techniques. Conclusions Isolated zygomatic arch fractures can present with discerning symptoms. Unfortunately, the literature on appropriate management is not well described. We find external fixation to provide reestablishment of both form and function with minimal required exposure, although the outcomes may be similar without the use of external fixation.
Article
The authors present the case of a 32-year-old patient treated for a left, isolated zygomatic fracture following assault. The injury was reduced without fixation via the Keene approach. The same patient presented to the emergency room 16 months later with a right-sided fracture similar to the previous contralateral injury. This fracture was left untreated. Repeated assaults over a 4-year period provide us with a natural history of both injuries, allowing for comparison between the 2 approaches. The authors found that reduction of the arch without fixation led to an outcome without palpable or visible deformity and no impaired mastication. Additionally, considering etiology of injury, such as alcohol or drug use, treatment may provide an important point of intervention to prevent recurrence.
