The present study was carried out to formulate and evaluate Metformin
hydrochloride orodispersible tablets by direct compression method
using two superdisintegrants i.e., crospovidone and sodium
croscarmellose. The produced granules were assessed for some precompression factors such as, bulk density, tapped density,
compressibility (Carr's index), angle of repose, Hausner's Ratio and
bulkiness. The tablets were prepared in three formulations (F1, F2 and
F3) by varying the amount of superdisintegrants. Hardness, friability,
wetting time, water absorption ratio, weight variation, disintegration
time, and In vitro dissolution test were performed on the tablets. It was
observed that F1 demonstrated the best outcome due to the 1:1
concentration of superdisintegrants, whereas F2 showed the highest
disintegration time and least in vitro drug release.
