Austrian Higher Education Landscape
•9 million inhabitants, ❤ of Europe
•22 public universities (51,000 students)
•21 universities of applied sciences (15,000
students)
•14 teacher training colleges (3,600 students)
•one private university of applied sciences and
•17 private universities (2,700 students).
•Most students attend public universities with
comparably low fees (similar to Germany)

Research Interest
The Austrian platform iMooX.at is a central platform for
MOOCs, and many Austrian universities act as providers
of these courses, with hundreds or even thousands of
participants enrolled in each.
However: Lack of data and information regarding the
current state of MOOC dissemination in Austrian higher
education.
What data can we get/provide
about MOOC/iMooX.at usage
in Austrian HEI?
