Recently, the first two parts of a series of new records of Heteroptera from the Canary Islands were
published (VAN DER HEYDEN, 2023; VAN DER HEYDEN & PETROVAN, 2023). In this note, more new
records from the archipelago are reported. The known distribution of the species mentioned in this
note was checked by using various checklists (AUKEMA et al., 2006, 2013; ROCA-CUSACHS et al.,
2020). The new records reported in this note are based on photographic records uploaded to the online
database iNaturalist.
Ceraleptus obtusus (Brullé, 1839) (Heteroptera: Coreidae) was reported by AUKEMA et al. (2006, 2013)
and ROCA-CUSACHS et al. (2020) for the islands of El Hierro, La Palma, La Gomera and Tenerife. The
island of Gran Canaria can be added to the list: On 22-03-2023, an adult specimen of C. obtusus was
photographed in Agaete in the northwestern part of the island (Fig. 1) (see here).
AUKEMA et al. (2006) reported Acrosternum millierei (Mulsant & Rey, 1866) (Heteroptera:
Pentatomidae) for the islands of La Gomera and Fuerteventura. AUKEMA et al. (2013) added the island
of La Palma to the list of its distribution on the Canary Islands. Later on, the island of Gran Canaria was
added by ROCA-CUSACHS et al. (2020). A. millierei was found on the islands of Tenerife and
Lanzarote, too: On 17-10-2021, an adult specimen was photographed in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the
capital of the province (see here). On 12-03-2023, an adult specimen was photographed in Punta
Mujeres, located at the northeastern coast of Lanzarote (Fig. 2) (see here).
