Based on preliminary studies, studies that examine the significance of the impact related to a program, method, model, media, learning resources, and the like to improve student character are still rare. This study aims to evaluate the information found in articles about character education in Indonesia. The research design uses content analysis. The instruments used are aspects and categories related to research type, quantitative, and qualitative research type. The research instrument was modified from Susetyarini and Fauzi. The research findings show that in the last five years, research on character education has fluctuated but increased significantly in 2023. During this period, the dominant study design used was qualitative. The descriptive type was in the highest position, followed by historical research, while quantitative research was rarely applied. In terms of treatment, the articles analyzed have yet to find the application of a particular learning model, method, or technique in improving students' character. Based on these results, quantitative research is still rarely applied in studying character education. It is intended that other researchers, particularly those using quantitative methods, can use the findings to detect problems in studying character education, specifically the influence/correlation of certain variables on improving student character.

... Content analysis allows researchers to deeply examine the data's meaning (Krippendorff, 2018). ...
... Computer-assisted content analysis software (such as NVivo and MAXQDA) can help speed up the process and contribute to more objective analysis (Bazeley & Jackson, 2013). Using quantitative and qualitative content analysis can allow for a more comprehensive evaluation of the findings (Krippendorff, 2018). By overcoming these limitations, educators and researchers can feel a sense of accomplishment and be more motivated and determined in their research. ...
Although descriptive and content analysis are different concepts, they often need clarification. While descriptive analysis is a statistically descriptive method that summarises the basic features of the data, content analysis is a method in which meaning, themes and patterns are revealed by examining texts or qualitative data in depth. Although descriptive analysis and content analysis are both analysis methods used in research, they have different purposes and techniques. This study aims to create a case study in which qualitative data's meaning, themes and patterns are revealed and examined in depth within a scenario constructed using actual data. As a case scenario, it will be assumed that interviews were conducted with students and teachers, the researcher used a semi-structured observation form, and open-ended self-evaluation reports were prepared in which students evaluated themselves. Explanations about how the data obtained from student-teacher interviews, observation and student self-assessment reports should be followed according to the content analysis stages are given. The stages of collecting and analysing qualitative data require careful planning. In this study, in addition to the content analysis used in analysing qualitative data, it is also essential that the other stages should be planned and implemented in detail. The processes before and after collecting the data and finally reporting the data should be planned in line with the purpose of the research. Before the content analysis process, it will be necessary to use many data collection tools to collect the data per the research subject.

Biodiversity is a critical component for sustainable human development. The recently concluded Sixteenth Conference of Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity 2024 highlighted the need for whole of society mobilization to address the global biodiversity crisis by translating international conservation commitments into effective local actions. A study to understand the linkages between ecological conservation measures in Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 15 target 15.5, was undertaken, using the content analysis method that reviewed international conventions, national policies, and local government measures and practices. The study revealed that there was a strong link with between Aba's conservation strategies and SDG 15 particularly target 15.5 in reducing natural habitat degradation, curbing biodiversity loss, and protecting endangered species. The Aba Prefecture has established 25 nature reserves, that are regulated by stringent wetland protection measures, and comprehensive legal frameworks for biodiversity conservation which is in line with SDG 15. The findings further show that that the Aba Prefecture's efforts in ecosystem conservation, species protection, and sustainable resource utilization can be used to help meet SDG 15 target 15.5. The study also identified steps to help localize SDG aspirations and goals, by strengthening long-term data monitoring and local herder participation. These insights can be used to support other initiatives and measures in other similar biodiversity-rich regions seeking to implement global conservation goals at the local level, particularly in ecologically sensitive mountainous areas.

... Content analysis as a method permits the collection of first-hand data regarding television portrayals of nerds. Through the categorization of program content, content analysis is perfectly suited for an exploration of actual trends and themes within a body of extant texts (Krippendorff, 2004), in this case television programs. Additionally, the use of content analysis permitted the researcher to collect information pertaining to television programs which aired decades in the past without issues of recall or incomplete ARE WE COOL YET? 45 data. ...
... Krippendorff"s α, was .93. Krippendorff (2004) states that reliability levels greater than .80 are desirable, and recommends that conclusions be drawn only cautiously from variables with reliability levels between .67 and .80. It has since been argued, however, that reliability levels between .90 and 1.00 are exceptionally high, levels from .80 to .90 are desirable, and levels from .70 to .80 should generally be considered acceptable, particularly given the stringent nature of Krippendorff"s α (Lombard, Snyder-Duch, & Bracken, 2010). ...
This study explores the representation of nerds and geeks in popular broadcast television programs over the course of the past twenty years. A content analysis of the five most popular scripted broadcast television programs for each year was conducted in order to assess the frequency of nerd characters, as well as the social competence, physical attractiveness, and demographic information of each such character. In addition, a supplemental survey design study was employed in order to collect public opinion data regarding perceptions of nerds in general and on television. The results of these studies indicated that while the per-year frequency of nerd portrayals has not varied significantly, nerds have been consistently portrayed as overwhelmingly white and male. Nerd characters in popular television programs have grown more physically attractive over the past twenty years. Furthermore, while technological or computer-related expertise remain significant predictors for the identification of television characters as nerds by audience members, the same is true for unattractiveness and low social competence. Considered through the theoretical framework provided by past mass media scholars, these findings suggest that nerds represent a group of individuals consistently portrayed as possessing technical aptitudes which are highly desirable in the current social context, but that such roles are portrayed as accessible only to white males.
... This study aims to examine the pedagogical value of ancient toys and the possibilities of their integration into modern preschool education processes from an interdisciplinary perspective (Patton, 2002). Accordingly, archaeological, anthropological, and educational sciences literature were evaluated in a common framework (Krippendorff, 2018;Miles & Huberman, 1994). The study addresses the limited utilization of historical toys in contemporary preschool education, despite their cultural, cognitive, and social significance. The purpose of this research is to explore the pedagogical value of ancient toys and their potential integration into modern preschool education. The study aims to evaluate the cognitive, social, and cultural functions of these toys by analyzing their historical contexts and educational significance. The research employed a qualitative methodology. Data were collected through the examination of museum records, and educational literature. These sources were analyzed to identify the historical contexts and pedagogical features of ancient toys. The study focused on toys made from natural materials, such as wood, clay, and stone, and their relevance to children's learning and cultural value transmission. The findings indicate that ancient toys are effective tools for supporting children's problem-solving, creativity, and social interaction skills. Toys made from natural materials were found to play a critical role in helping children explore their surroundings and learn cultural values. Furthermore, these toys promoted the development of cooperation and leadership skills in group play and fostered imagination and creative thinking during individual play. The study highlights the potential of ancient toys to enhance both cultural heritage preservation and pedagogical diversity. The study concludes that integrating ancient toys into modern preschool education materials can significantly contribute to cultural heritage preservation and align with the value transfer and cultural awareness objectives of the 2024 Education Model.
The palm oil industry plays a crucial role in both national and regional economies; however, it faces profound ethical challenges concerning environmental sustainability and social justice. The expansion of this industry is frequently associated with deforestation, labor exploitation, and agrarian conflicts, disproportionately affecting indigenous communities and smallholder farmers. This study aims to analyze the role of axiology in fostering a sustainable palm oil industry by examining the equilibrium between economic, social, and environmental values. This research employs a qualitative approach through a literature review and axiological philosophical analysis, drawing upon the works of philosophers such as Immanuel Kant, Martin Heidegger, Hans Jonas, and Friedrich Nietzsche. A hermeneutic methodology is utilized to interpret axiological principles within the policies and practices of the palm oil industry. Additionally, content analysis is applied to assess sustainability-related regulations. The findings reveal that the industry remains entrenched in an exploitative paradigm, wherein economic values are prioritized over social and environmental equilibrium. From an axiological perspective, the industry necessitates a transcendence of values, shifting towards a sustainability-driven model. Policy reforms are essential to improve land governance, strengthen social protections for workers and smallholders, and implement regenerative economic practices to restore ecosystems. This study concludes that the palm oil industry must adopt an ethical framework that harmonizes economic imperatives with social and ecological responsibility to achieve a more just and inclusive sustainability model.
... A set of four thematic content analyses were conducted to address the research questions. Three of those analyses (addressing RQ 1, 3, and 4) involved an inductive content analysis method (Elo, 2008;Krippendorff, 2018), whereby the researchers systematically reviewed the textual responses in order to identify a set of themes capturing the nature of responses with regard to the research questions, and then quantified the proportion of responses within each category. The analysis process involved: (a) reviewing survey responses to familiarize themselves with the data, (b) open coding of responses to identify potential themes, (c) establishing a set of exclusive/exhaustive thematic categories and definitions, (d) coding each response into the appropriate category by a primary coder, (e) coding of a randomly selected 20%, or minimum of 30 cases (McHugh, 2012), by a second coder to test inter-rater reliability, refine categories, and repeat if needed until satisfactory agreement is reached (e.g. ...
Because assessing and managing risks is an integral part of sports, athletes may develop general beliefs regarding taking and avoiding risks that they draw upon. This qualitative study used inductive content analysis of survey responses to examine risk-related experiences and attitudes in sample of U.S. NCAA Division I college student-athletes (N = 101) from a variety of sports. Participants were asked to describe situations they experienced that required deciding whether or not to take risks, and to describe their “personal philosophy” on taking risks and playing it safe. Thematic analysis identified five situational contexts in which the student-athletes said they encountered risk decisions: a) during competition, b) managing health and injuries, c) preparing for competition, d) managing expectations, and e) navigating student-athlete life. Student-athletes valued taking risks for success, personal growth, avoidance of regrets, and social approval. Although most respondents were able to describe situations in which they considered it best to play safe, either as the best competitive strategy, to avoid injury/protect one’s health, and to follow instincts, a small segment of participants expressed that it is never acceptable to play it safe. Findings hold implications for coaches, trainers, parents and others working to improve student-athlete success and well-being.

Achieving gender equity in education is essential for national development, yet history education often reinforces gender bias. This study examines gender mainstreaming in the curriculum of Indonesian history, comparing the 2013 Curriculum and the Merdeka Curriculum through Nancy Fraser’s social justice framework on redistribution, recognition, and representation. This study aims to: (1) analyse the paradigm of history education in both curricula, (2) evaluate how gender discourse is integrated, and (3) assess the shift in historical narrative towards gender inclusivity. This study examines curriculum documents and history textbooks using a qualitative content analysis approach. The findings reveal that although both curricula emphasise national identity, the Merdeka Curriculum adopts a more progressive attitude towards gender equality by integrating feminist historiography and multidimensional narratives. This marks a shift towards redistributive justice and recognition, ensuring increased visibility of women’s contributions in history education. However, the extent of curriculum implementation remains untested, raising concerns about teacher readiness and classroom implementation. The study highlights the need for ongoing curriculum reform to better integrate gender perspectives across subjects. In addition, teacher training is essential to prevent unintentional reinforcement of gender bias. Future research should explore how gender-inclusive history education affects student perceptions and how educators interpret and implement these curriculum changes. Although the Merdeka Curriculum reflects progress, achieving gender justice in education requires systemic reforms in pedagogy, teacher training, and policy.
... Data were analyzed using Qualitative Content Analysis (QCA), a systematic method of categorizing and interpreting textual data (Krippendorff, 1980). This study uniquely investigates gender-based differences in the linguistic features of narrative texts within the under-researched context of Indonesian high school students learning English as a Foreign Language (EFL). Focusing specifically on narrative writing, this research provides novel insights into how gender influences written expression. Using a qualitative content analysis approach, narrative texts were collected from 20 students (10 male and 10 female) enrolled in a tutoring and English course institution in Indonesia. The texts were analyzed to identify lexicogrammatical features, as outlined by Knapp (2005), with particular attention to the use of action and mental verbs. The findings revealed that male students predominantly used action verbs to describe challenging activities and responsibility, such as "fought against big waves," highlighting assertiveness and leadership traits. In contrast, female students employed more mental verbs, such as "felt happy and proud," emphasizing emotions and personal experiences, which reflected a more introspective and relational writing style. These findings highlight the alignment of gender-based differences with social norms and cultural expectations. The study suggests that using gender-sensitive methodologies in EFL teaching enhances inclusivity by addressing students’ diverse communication needs. This research makes a valuable contribution by proposing practical, gender-responsive strategies for language education.

Clear guidance and parameters during data extraction was needed when reviewing the diverse scope and type of reports eligible for inclusion. ...
Land use planning is primarily undertaken at the local level through local plans and development management decisions by local authorities. Planning includes objectives around promoting healthy and safe communities so public health considerations and involvement are necessary. A rapid review was undertaken of reports specific to the planning system between 2010 and 2024 and based on methods focused on gathering professional views. The reports were from academic papers, professional practice reports and parliamentary inquiries. There is a need to take a systems thinking approach to health focusing on the connections across the system, context and capability. This can help identify connected themes and gaps. In this context, the analysis found consistent themes for discussion: uncertainty in the reform process, clarity in national policy, complexity in plan-making and the local plan, delays in decision-making, politics in planning, reduced resourcing in local government, decreasing capability and skills, and concluding with reflections on improving public health consideration and involvement to drive local healthy planning. The implications for public health involvement and consideration of health and wellbeing issues in planning as a key influence of the wider determinants of health can be profound with challenges and opportunities presented for future policy and practice.

Adaptive learning technologies (ALTs) provide teachers with student data in teacher dashboards (TDs). However, there is substantial variation in dashboard use among teachers, and many find it difficult to draw conclusions based on student data. Teachers’ skills, knowledge, and contextual conditions are believed to be essential in effective dashboard use. In this study, 26 primary school teachers using dashboards daily were interviewed about their perspectives on the skills, knowledge, and contextual conditions needed to facilitate dashboard use. Results indicated that teachers require a combination of skills, knowledge, and contextual conditions to make well-informed decisions while using a dashboard, emphasizing data literacy skills and pedagogical knowledge. In addition, teachers addressed other competencies, such as skills and knowledge related to the ALT curriculum and general computer proficiency. Also, contextual conditions at the school and technology level were found to be necessary. Based on these results, we propose various factors to explain teacher dashboard use.

In order to extract meaning from the images, visual analysis has been employed to analyze the present visual elements in an explorative and systematic way (Krippendorff, 2013). Such analysis has been used in similar research as a qualitative technique appropriate for exploring phenomena in mass media (McKenna et al, 2017;Rose, 2016). ...
... The data analysis method used in this study is content analysis (Krippendorff, 2004), which is conducted in an interpretive manner to understand in-depth insights from interviews, feedback, and understanding of the situation within the area. This approach is used to develop a model and components for the operation of enhancing the potential of community enterprise groups to increase economic opportunities and support the aging society in the border areas of Surin Province. ...
Background and Aim: Enhancing the potential and capacity of community enterprise groups to improve their operations is essential for promoting better well-being and increasing social resilience among the elderly in the community. This, in turn, supports the development of strong communities that drive community development, create economic opportunities through local support, and generate jobs. This leads to the goal of the study, which is to determine how community entrepreneurship groups can boost economic prospects to help the aging population in Surin Province's border region. Materials and Methods: The study employed a qualitative research methodology that included document analysis and pilot studies in addition to participatory action research in the four districts of Surin Province's border region. Purposive sampling was used to choose thirty key informants, and open-ended structured interviews were used to collect data through the continuous management cycle. In-depth interviews and non-participatory observation were combined to yield the lessons learned. After 12 key informants participated in a brainstorming session to validate the consensus conclusions, the focus shifted to improving the findings for appropriateness and coming to an agreement on the efficacy of the results. To understand the situation and interpret significant findings, content analysis was employed for data analysis. Based on the results, a model and components for potential development were created using a connection mapping tool. Results: The research findings revealed as follows: The structure of the development guidelines for enhancing the potential of community enterprise groups to increase economic opportunities and support the aging society in the border area of Surin Province, which is both appropriate and interconnected, consists of 9 components: 1) Direction - “Sustainability”; 2) Vision of the Leader - “Adherence”; 3) Membership and Participation Management - “Family”; 4) Management and Operation Planning - “Knowledge”; 5) Product Production and Management - “Distinctiveness”; 6) Marketing - “Integrating Diversity and Marketing Channels”; 7) Cost and Finance - “Resource Allocation”; 8) Knowledge and Information - “Digital Media”; 9) External Interaction - “Digital Network”. Conclusion: The integration of elderly groups and networks, presidents and members, and staff and volunteers dedicated to elder healthcare, along with the operation and management of community enterprise groups by the framework of the development guidelines for enhancing their potential to increase economic opportunities in supporting the aging society in the Surin Province border area, is a preparation to effectively cope with the dynamic changes in the economy, society, culture, and environment, ensuring long-term successful outcomes.
... Content analysis was employed to quantify the frequency of sustainability-related keywords and assess the use of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in corporate reports. Keywords such as "carbon neutrality", "renewable energy", and "waste management" were systematically tracked to evaluate the emphasis placed on different environmental priorities by each firm [61,62]. Additionally, KPIs were examined across the three firms to assess variations in environmental performance and alignment with ASEAN's sustainability goals. ...
ASEAN’s manufacturing sector contributes significantly to economic growth but also presents major environmental challenges. This study investigates how environmental policies are implemented by three leading manufacturing firms in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand, focusing on their alignment with ASEAN’s regional guidelines. A qualitative document analysis was conducted, examining sustainability reports, annual reports, and corporate policy statements to identify patterns and gaps in environmental strategies. The findings reveal that Sime Darby (Malaysia) and PTT Global Chemical (Thailand) exhibit stronger alignment with ASEAN guidelines, particularly in renewable energy adoption and biodiversity conservation. In contrast, PT Astra International (Indonesia) prioritizes emissions reduction and waste management. These differences reflect the influence of national policies and institutional settings on corporate strategies. This study offers practical insights into regional gaps and proposes standardizing KPIs, enhancing cross-border collaboration, and promoting green innovation. This research provides a comparative perspective on corporate environmental practices in ASEAN, offering practical recommendations for standardizing Key Performance Indicators, fostering regional collaboration, and encouraging green innovation. An integrated ASEAN-wide policy framework is needed to support environmental sustainability in the manufacturing sector.
Data on pedestrian infrastructure is essential for improving the mobility environment and for planning efficiency. Although governmental agencies are responsible for capturing data on pedestrian infrastructure mostly by field audits, most have not completed such audits. In recent years, virtual auditing based on street view imagery (SVI), specifically through geo-crowdsourcing platforms, offers a more inclusive approach to pedestrian movement planning, but concerns about the quality and reliability of opensource geospatial data pose barriers to use by governments. Limited research has compared opensource data in relation to traditional government approaches. In this study, we compare pedestrian infrastructure data from an opensource virtual sidewalk audit platform (Project Sidewalk) with government data. We focus on neighborhoods with diverse walkability and income levels in the city of Seattle, Washington and in DuPage County, Illinois. Our analysis shows that Project Sidewalk data can be a reliable alternative to government data for most pedestrian infrastructure features. The agreement for different features ranges from 75% for pedestrian signals to complete agreement (100%) for missing sidewalks. However, variations in measuring the severity of barriers challenges dataset comparisons.
Multilingual students writing in English as a foreign/second language has been a major topic in research for many years (see Leung & Valdés for overview). This topic is particularly relevant in Sweden, as reports suggest that students who are speakers of a language other than Swedish (LOTS) in the home have a lower grade average after 9 years of compulsory schooling (Skolinspektionen, 2010; Skolverket, 2023b). The Swedish Schools Inspectorate hypothesizes that this may be due to school staff not taking students’ language backgrounds into account (Skolinspektionen, 2010). A possible remedy is to introduce translanguaging pedagogy, which has been shown to have the potential to benefit all students in the classroom, not just those with a migrant background (Carbonara et al., 2023; García & Wei, 2014).
This study focuses on emergent multilingual students writing in English as a foreign language (EFL), a core subject in Swedish schools in which students sit a national exam at the end of year 9, a gate-keeping test which students are required to pass in order to be allowed entry into upper secondary school (Skolverket, 2024e). The exam prohibits the use of tools and the topic of the exam is revealed only when students sit down to write (Skolverket, 2024d). Considering how writing practices have dramatically changed though the abundance of tools, such as machine translations and word prediction, in writing practices outside of school (Oh, 2020), the national exam does little to bridge writing experiences outside of school with in-school practices.
Both national (Hirsh, 2016) and international research (Küçük, 2023) suggest that high-stakes testing, such as the national exam, causes some students anxiety. During the last decade in Sweden we have seen a decline in students’ mental health, connected to factors such as testing and assessment (Klapp et al., 2023). Research shows that allowing students access to tools can boost student confidence (Oh, 2020), making access to tools during assessment an avenue worth pursuing.
Taking a sociocultural approach to teaching, the study explores two classes of year-9 students’ use of translanguaging and writing tools through the means of an intervention. The intervention introduced translanguaging and writing tools based on positive outcomes found in previous research of students’ writing in foreign or second languages (see for instance García & Velasco, 2014; Zhang, 2018). Drawing on observation, interviews, questionnaires and focus-group discussions, the results show students engaging in exploratory talk, a type of talk found to be conducive to learning (Mercer et al., 1999), while translanguaging in the classroom. While translanguaging, using minoritized languages, such as Albanian and Bosnian, there were signs that the status of languages was levelled, as all languages were recognized as valuable tools. Also, student interaction showed on-task talk to a high degree (92.4% to 99.6%). The writing tools introduced were found to be appropriated to different degrees by students and mediated different actions in their writing, such as metalinguistic awareness, lexical access and idea generation. The mediation of the tools was found to impact students’ writing in different ways, supporting them with matters such as lexical variation and accuracy, problem solving and with self-efficacy beliefs.
The results of the study support a re-conceptualization of writing as a skill in the subject of EFL to include the use of writing tools and translanguaging. To incoporate students’ use of tools would not only concur with the current syllabus for EFL (Lgr22), but would better reflect students’ writing needs in their future academic and professional lives.
ABSTRACT
The fall of the Ashraf Ghani regime in Afghanistan in August 2021, led the Taliban's return to power, garnered
extensive international media attention. This study examines how CNN and Al Jazeera, framed the Afghan crisis
in their web news during the first three months of Taliban government. Using quantitative content analysis, this
research project focused on language, sources, thematic emphasis, and the portrayal of key actors. Preliminary
findings indicate that CNN predominantly employed the "dominant crisis" theme, which underscores a
perspective of instability and chaos while Al Jazeera heavily focused on the submissive crisis & reality view
theme which emphasizes on grounded and factual perspectives of the crises. Despite these differences, both
news organizations shared a common focus on the instability and uncertainty, though with varying emphases
on causes and consequences & offers insights into the impact of media on global public opinion.

Contemporary first-year mathematics courses often provide students with online opportunities to interact with the course content, instructors, and each other. Asynchronous forums have become common, enabling students to raise questions and discuss the course material. What interactions emerge in such forums, and who are the students that take the leading roles in them? Do student participation patterns correlate with their course achievements, or do these forums provide an alternative space for engagement for those students who need it the most? In this chapter, I explore these questions in the case of 25 high-school students who took a special introductory university-level course in Linear Algebra. The course was taught in-person, accompanied by an asynchronous online forum opened to support students’ learning. The forum generated a considerable number of mathematical post-exchanges, the vast majority of which came from a small group of six students. The data analysis of the posts revealed a positive correlation between student thread-initiation and course achievements. Students’ activity in their self-initiated threads correlated with their activity in the threads initiated by their peers. In about half of the threads, the students sought verifications for their solutions to mathematical problems assigned for homework.
The study investigates the impact of Indigenous data governance principles on managing Indigenous knowledge. Indigenous communities possess rich knowledge systems that are crucial for sustainable development and community well-being. However, managing this knowledge faces challenges, including inadequate data governance frameworks that fail to align with Indigenous values, protocols and ownership rights. This research explores how integrating Indigenous data governance principles into knowledge management practices enhances cultural autonomy, strengthens community resilience and fosters sustainable development. Drawing on a qualitative methodology including web content analysis, document analysis and personal experiences, a case study of the Southern African Intangible Cultural Heritage Project was carried out. The data was analysed using qualitative content analysis. The FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable) and CARE (collective benefit, authority to control, responsibility, ethics) principles were utilized as the guiding data governance principles. The findings highlight the importance of culturally sensitive data protocols, community-driven decision-making processes, and reciprocal partnerships between Indigenous communities and database managers. This research offers insights into transformative approaches for advancing Indigenous knowledge sovereignty.
Gun violence in the United States is a public health crisis with debates raging about the role of guns in American society. The current study examined how exposure to guns in movies may shape attitudes/beliefs about guns and the mediating role of gun use self-efficacy as a potential mechanism for effects, using a retrospective survey with 612 undergraduates. Increased exposure to guns in movies was correlated with less support for gun control and stronger beliefs that guns make society safer. Importantly, gun use self-efficacy was a significant mediator between movie exposure and gun control.
Due to the demand for information and extended operating hours, information providing
agencies face challenges with providing information at any time when needed. This
study investigated the preparedness for digitization projects in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN)
information providing agencies. Multiple case study research method was adopted in
research design. The target population for this study included the staff members
involved in preparing for the digitization projects at the Msunduzi Municipal Library, the
Don Africana Central Reference Library, the University of Zululand (UniZulu) Library
and the Durban Local History Museums. This study was grounded by the framework
termed the Collections Digitization Framework (CDF). The data was collected using
semi-structured face-to-face interviews from all staff members involved in preparing for
the digitization projects in KZN information providing agencies. The researcher analyzed
the collected data in this study using the qualitative content analysis based on Tesch‟s
approach. The themes of the study included the preparedness for a digitization project,
types of collections institutions prepare to digitize, digitization policies and guidelines
and digitization process. The data obtained may contribute to social change by
benefiting the institutions and organizations planning for their digitization projects. The
findings of this study revealed that most participants from the KZN information providing
agencies are prepared by being trained by the digitization machines suppliers in how to
operate the supplied digitization machines. This study found that the KZN information
providing agencies are preparing to digitize photographs, legal deposit serials and
theses and dissertations. This study found that only one KZN information providing
agency has a digitization policy and guidelines available and most do not have
digitization a policy and guidelines. It was ascertained that most KZN information
providing agencies have digitization processes available while one does not have a
digitization process. This study recommends that institutions and organizations
preparing for digitization projects should have adequate resources required for a
digitization project. Further, this study recommends the availability of a digitization policy
and guidelines and digitization processes.
This chapter focuses on the cosmopolitanism of the COVID-19 vaccine as a promising approach to collectively curb the borderless COVID-19 pandemic and promote shared humanity. Since the end of 2019 till 2021, the world experienced an exponential spread of COVID-19 virus that claimed many lives irrespective of the race, age, gender of people. In response to combat the pandemic, the world has been unanimously united around cosmopolitan health regulations and political determinants of health as concerted efforts towards saving lives. These include, the WHO’s declaration on the race for COVID-19 vaccine and recommendation for human solidarity for the needy, social distancing between people of at least one metre, washing hands with soap or alcohol-based sanitizers, wearing of masks in public, quarantining infected people. Countries also enforced strict measures that restricted human mobility such as closures of nation-state borders and imposition of curfews. The chapter argues that the COVID-19 pandemic has reminded the world that we are all one and all lives matter. Thus, divisions based on race, gender, sex etc. should not stand in the way of finding collective solutions to problems which afflict humanity today and possibly going into the future. Through desktop research and content analysis, the study extensively reviews the notion of cosmopolitanism, politics of vaccine, and COVID-19 pandemic to understand the necessity of a cosmopolitan approach to vaccine to combat the pandemic and promote collective and shared humanity. It was found that the world was interconnected by concerted cosmopolitan regulations to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. Using vaccine cosmopolitanism constitutes a promising approach to save live globally irrespective of physical and symbolic borders separating humanities. It is necessary to include countries from the Global South in both production and distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine. People should not be reminded that they are all the same because a disaster is raging and consuming them like a wild conflagration, but this should be always the norm/standard- cosmopolitanism and a shared humanity.

The present study investigates the association between perceived authenticity (PAU), GCON, and behavioral intention within heritage restaurants in Hail, Saudi Arabia. By integrating cognitive appraisal theory (CAT) and the Stimulus-Organism-Response (SOR) framework, this research explores how authenticity perceptions influence both cultural and gastronomic experiences and contribute to sustainable consumption behavior. Also, it investigates the moderating role of consumer knowledge (CKNOW) in enhancing GCON and its subsequent impact on the behavioral intention (BINT) to dine at heritage restaurants. Employing a mixed-methods approach, this study first conducted a content analysis on online reviews to identify key attributes that shape authenticity perceptions. Subsequently, Smart PLS software was employed to conduct an analysis of 417 valid customers of heritage restaurants in Hail. The current study aims to investigate the customers of heritage restaurants in Hail, Saudi Arabia. The current findings showed that students formed a significant market share of heritage restaurants in Hail, Saudi Arabia. The findings confirm that perceived authenticity significantly enhances consumers’ cultural and gastronomic experiences, which in turn fosters GCON and strengthens the behavioral intention to visit authentic restaurants. Furthermore, GCON mediates the association between authenticity, cultural experiences, and purchase intention. Consumer knowledge further moderates this relationship, amplifying the positive effect of GCON on behavioral intention. This study contributes to the growing literature on sustainable gastronomy tourism by demonstrating the crucial interplay between authenticity, sustainability, and consumer knowledge in the heritage restaurant sector. It also offers practical recommendations for restaurant managers, policymakers, and tourism marketers to enhance the authentic dining experience while promoting environmentally responsible behavior. By fostering an awareness of cultural and environmental values, heritage restaurants can serve a critical role in advancing sustainable tourism development in Hail and beyond.
Digital literacy plays an important role in the psychological development of elementary school children, both from cognitive, social, and emotional aspects. This study aims to analyze the influence of digital literacy on child psychology by highlighting the positive and negative impacts it causes. The research method used is a literature review with reference to various previous studies on digital literacy and its development in children. The results of the study show that digital literacy can improve critical thinking skills, creativity, and expand children's social interactions. In addition, access to technology can also help children understand the world more broadly and increase empathy for social issues. However, excessive use of digital technology without adequate supervision can have negative impacts, such as addiction to gadgets, decreased social interaction, and impaired concentration in learning. Exposure to age-inappropriate content and the risk of cyberbullying are also threats to children's mental health. Therefore, an active role of parents, educators, and policymakers is needed in supervising and guiding children in using digital technology wisely. This study confirms that digital literacy has a complex impact on child psychology. With proper guidance and supervision, the benefits of digital literacy can be optimized, while the negative impact can be minimized. Therefore, a balanced approach in the application of digital literacy is needed to support the optimal development of children's psychology.
In response to escalating environmental concerns and the imperative for a transition to a more sustainable economy, the European Union enacted a new regulation on the electric battery market in July 2023. This regulation integrates the principles of the circular economy, as outlined in the European Green Deal, addressing all phases of the battery life cycle, including the mining of raw materials, product design, production processes, reuse, and recycling. In light of this development, the principal manufacturers of electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) have undertaken various circular economy (CE) and life cycle (LC) strategies. Their objective is to align their operations with these new regulatory requirements and enhance their sustainability credentials. The global automotive industry, encompassing thousands of entities with an annual turnover exceeding USD 3 trillion, is a significant economic sector. Within this industry, it is estimated that more than 50 manufacturers are involved in the production of EVs, ranging from established automakers to emerging startups. This study applies content analysis to obtain qualitative and quantitative information from data disclosed by companies and organizations, with a specific focus on entities that currently feature EVs or HEVs. The methodology involves examining publicly available reports and corporate disclosures to assess industry trends and regulatory compliance. For this purpose, the analysis selected the 10 largest EV manufacturers in the world, based on sales reports provided by the manufacturers themselves and their respective market shares, as reported by automotive news portals and blogs. The evaluation of their actions was derived from the annual sustainability reports of these companies, with the aim of identifying the practices already implemented and their anticipated contributions to extending battery life and minimizing environmental impact.

Background
Implementing evidence-based interventions (EBIs) in practice requires balancing fidelity and adaptation to suit new contexts. Careful considerations are needed to maintain the core elements for effectiveness while ensuring fit with new contexts. The Adaptation and Fidelity Tool (A-FiT) intervention addresses this challenge by providing support for professionals using EBIs in the sustainment phase of implementation. This study evaluates the A-FiT intervention and examines how professionals delivering an EBI manage fidelity and adaptation during the sustainment phase of implementation, before and after the intervention. Method Short, structured interviews were repeatedly conducted with 14 professionals delivering an EBI ( n = 127). Data was analyzed using deductive content analysis focusing on adaptation types, planning, intentionality, and fidelity consistency. The adaptations were counted and compared before versus after the A-FiT intervention using a chi ² -test.
Results
The professionals made about the same number of adaptations before and after the A-FiT intervention. However, after the intervention, significant changes in the type and intentionality of the adaptations were observed. Changes in type consisted of fewer “removing,” “substituting,” and “integrating another framework” adaptations and more “loosening structure” and “departing from the intervention” adaptations. Regarding intentionality, fewer planned adaptations with the intention of improving the EBI effects were made, while adaptations made for practical reasons, both planned and unplanned, increased after the A-FiT intervention. No statistical change was found regarding fidelity consistency.
Conclusions
The findings indicate increased awareness about fidelity and adaptation among the group leaders, resulting in fewer planned adaptations to enhance program effects and more practical adaptations to address context challenges. The A-FiT intervention appears to help professionals in their management of fidelity and adaptations when delivering EBIs. The study underscores the importance of understanding adaptations in their context, purpose, and impact (intended and unintended) on the outcome/value.
