The rising number of international students in Indonesia brings attention to homesickness, intensified by limited physical and social support. This study explores how online social network sites (SNS) aid social integration and reduce homesickness, analyzing the support and challenges related to SNS use. Using purposive sampling, 34 international students from diverse backgrounds participated in semi-structured interviews, complemented by quantitative demographic analysis and qualitative thematic analysis. Results reveal that SNS significantly mitigates homesickness and fosters social integration by providing emotional support, distraction, information, and instant communication. Students from collectivist societies primarily seek familial and emotional connections on SNS, whereas those from individualist cultures utilize these platforms to expand social networks and engage in various interactions. However, issues like exposure to unrealistic standards, scams, fake news, privacy invasion, addiction, and negative interactions also emerged. Recommendations include counseling for social media addiction and campaigns addressing the risks of SNS use. Future studies should account for variables like stress levels and academic pressures to better assess SNS's impact on homesickness. Adopting mixed-method and longitudinal approaches could deepen understanding and improve the study's applicability.

People believe that social networks and the Internet are the two most widely used media platforms worldwide. The world's use of the Internet has substantially expanded, and it is anticipated that this trend will continue as it becomes an indispensable part of daily life. The Internet and social media are frequently used for interacting, playing video games, reading and creating posts, exchanging files, and posting images. Due to their rapid growth, teenagers are drawn to the Internet and social media. As a result, they use the Internet and social media excessively and develop negative views about them. This is called "Internet addiction" (IA) and "social media addiction" (SMA). People with IA and SMA illnesses may use social media excessively, which might interfere with daily chores and make functioning difficult. IA and SMA are having an increasing impact on young people worldwide. The Internet offers many educational advantages, but spending too much time on social media can result in issues such as isolation, loneliness, and poor academic performance. The proposed study goals are to figure out how IA, SMA, and other factors affect people all over the world. The current study has used the Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (FAHP) and Evaluation Based on Distance from Average Solution (EDAS), which are both decision-making tools, to figure out how IA and SMA affect things. The results of the study show that the SMA with the highest score gets the first spot and is called the "best option," while the SMA with the lowest score gets the last spot and is called the "worst option." The proposed systems might help us accurately weigh the different criteria and make a good choice when there are many options. Also, the solutions that were put in place are easy to use and might help us solve problems that are not clear or certain. According to the research, IA and SMA have a big effect on people's daily lives, and the main goal of the suggested evaluation, which was to find the best solution, has been met. In tough situations where making a choice is hard, the offered assessments may be a big help.

Little research has been conducted on the two most important criteria for the success of social network sites (SNS), that is, content sharing and sociability, and how these affect privacy experiences and usage behavior among SNS users. This article explores these issues by employing in-depth interviews and explorative usability tests, comparing the experiences and usage of younger and older Facebook users. First, the interviews revealed that Facebook users in all age groups reported more contact with several different groups of people, which reflects different types of social capital (i.e., family, friends, and acquaintances), because of Facebook, but not without consequences for privacy. Having too many Facebook “friends” and access to different social capital disrupt the sharing process due to experiences of social surveillance and social control. This social control often forces younger people in particular to use conformity as a strategy when sharing content to maintain their privacy. Further, the interviews revealed different motivations and usage patterns when older and younger users are compared. Second, the usability test found a significant difference between younger and older adults in time completion and task completion related to Facebook settings. Younger users are more skilled in their Facebook usage, whereas adults over the age of 40 have difficulties in understanding the navigation logic and privacy settings. Younger and older adults display completely open public profiles without realizing it. Finally, the design and theoretical implications of the findings are discussed.

Loyal e-customers don't just come back or simply recommend you, but insist their friends to do business with you. E-store impresses the e-customers in their first sight. A consumer has different expectations or goals when visiting different e-stores at different times. Indeed, e-consumers visit e-stores not only to search and purchase products/services, but also to have rich and entertaining experiences. The objective of this paper is to identify how the demographic factors and other variables influence e-shopping behaviour in India. And also this paper weighs the e-store information and design quality factors with respect to Indian e-shoppers. The data analysis is done by categorizing the e-customers into 4 categories ie. No Loyalty customers, Latent Loyalty customers, Inertia Loyalty customers and Premium Loyalty customers and how differently these categories perceived the e-store information and design factors. The results suggest the e-store service providers to know the strength, weaknesses, opportunity and threat of the e-store. The result reveals that there is a direct relationship between e-store information and design quality and e-store success. The study of this research aims to create an immense level of awareness among the youth exposed to such social networking sites and findings will not only bear results as to how adversely and positively is the youth affected by the usage of these sites but also will help the youth to understand the usage of these networking sites efficiently. Facebook, My Space, Twitter, LinkedIn, Skype and Ning are a few such sites that attract maximum of the youth to tune in to them and thereby embodies their own merits and demerits that desperately need to create an actual picture among the youth. It has now become an evident and usual sight to face individuals being insensitive to chat in worshipping places, homes when relatives and guests are around, highways, schools, colleges and social gatherings wherein they are so preoccupied and engrossed into their phones that they do not even bother to look up as to where they are which results in their inability to prioritize as to what is important and what isn’t. Internet addiction (IA) is a relatively new field of academic inquiry. Empirical studies suggest that IA, like other well researched addictive behaviours, has an effect on many aspects of a person‟s life, including academic/work performance, relationships, and physical and mental health (Goldberg, 1996; Young, 1996, 1998). Evidence of IA has been suggested by the findings that some Internet users spend increasingly longer periods of time online and experience withdrawal symptoms when offline. Those preoccupied with Internet-related activities may neglect exercise, family and social activities (Kim et al., 2010; Nalwa & Anand, 2003; Seo, Kang, & Yom, 2009; S. Yang & Tung, 2007; Young, 1998, 2004). Problems arising from excessive Internet use have been documented worldwide, including in Thailand where the use of the Internet has increased noticeably (National Statistical Office, 2008a, 2008b, 2010). It is a particularly common problem among students, as demonstrated in several international studies (Ko, Yen, Yen, Lin, & Yang, 2007; Konstantinos, Evaggelia, Dimitrios, Odysseas, & Nikiforos, 2008; Lam, Peng, Mai, & Ing 2009; Lee et al., 2007; Niemz, Griffiths, & Banyard, 2005; Thomas & Martin, 2010; Zboralski et al., 2009). However, few researchers have investigated IA and its impacts on Thai secondary school students. This thesis fills a gap in the international IA literature by developing a consensus definition and diagnostic criteria of IA, investigating the prevalence of IA among Thai secondary school students, as well as conducting an exploration of the impacts of IA on these students and their prevalence.

Adolescents are currently the defining users of the Internet. They spend more time online than adults do, and they use the Internet for social interaction more often than adults do. This article discusses the state of the literature on the consequences of online communication technologies (e.g., instant messaging) for adolescents' social connectedness and well-being. Whereas several studies in the 1990s suggested that Internet use is detrimental, recent studies tend to report opposite effects. We first explain why the results of more recent studies diverge from those of earlier studies. Then, we discuss a viable hypothesis to explain the recent findings: the Internet-enhanced self-disclosure hypothesis. Finally, we discuss some contingent factors that may deserve special attention in future research.

Online social networks such as Friendster, MySpace, or the Facebook have experienced exponential growth in membership in recent years. These networks oer attractive means for inter- action and communication, but also raise privacy and security concerns. In this study we survey a representative sample of the members of the Facebook (a social network for colleges and high schools) at a US academic institution, and compare the survey data to information retrieved from the net- work itself. We look for underlying demographic or behavioral dierences between the communities of the network's members and non-members; we analyze the impact of privacy concerns on members' behavior; we compare members' stated attitudes with actual behavior; and we document the changes in behavior subsequent to privacy-related information exposure. We find that an individual's privacy concerns are only a weak predictor of his membership to the network. Also privacy concerned individ- uals join the network and reveal great amounts of personal information. Some manage their privacy concerns by trusting their ability to control the information they provide and the external access to it. However, we also find evidence of members' misconceptions about the online community's actual size and composition, and about the visibility of members' profiles.
