Schön, Sandra; Braun, Clarissa; Hohla, Katharina; Mütze, Annette & Ebner, Martin (2022). The ReDesign Canvas as a tool for the didactic-methodological redesign of courses and a case study. Will be published in: Proceedings EdMedia 2022. Preprint available: https://doi.org/10.3217/hptt1-s0c54 //////// Initially, in March 2020, when COVID-19 forced conventional face-to-face to pure online teaching, didactic matters were only of secondary importance. At Graz University of Technology (TU Graz, Austria) both the support team for Educational Technology as well as the instructors were mostly concerned with solving technical challenges. Nevertheless, a special tool, the ReDesign Canvas, was available to support lecturers in their endeavor to also address the didactic aspects of their teaching systematically. The article presents the application of the canvas in a redesign of an exemplary lecture.

Recommendations for canvas development
•When developing the layo ut, it is useful to casually arrange smaller fragments
and units on paper in order to try out differen t design options.
•It is important to determine early on in which format the canvas will be
printed and whether folding i s necessary - also based on the needs of how the
canvas will be used: Is it typically a workshop or a consulting situation?
•In addition to printable PDF formats, we no w create all canvases so that they
are also easily digitally editable as PDFs.
•All our canvases are made available under open licenses. We also p rovide
versions that are explicitly not in o ur corporate identity colors to facili tate
customization.
•Finally, the color scheme is also an accessibi lity issue and care should be taken
to use appropriate color schemes.

The project empowers primary and secondary school pupils (6-16 years) alongside educators to apply open innovation methods, digital maker tools and collaboration skills to tackle societal problems. The DOIT children’s social innovation and entrepreneurship programme is piloted and evaluated across 10 European countries (AT, BE, DE, DK, ES, FI, HR, NL, RS und SI). DOIT showcases how its child-friendly, intergenerational maker approach enables young people to acquire the manual, technological, intellectual and social skills they need to be active and initiate social good. The project consortium comprises experienced actors across the social innovation value chain with links to related European initiatives fostering young entrepreneurship education. DOIT will provide materials (OER) and opportunities and aim to build a network of organisation to foster fentrepreneurial thinking in an early age, social innovation, intergenerational and multidisciplinary work - the foundation for Europe’s future entrepreneurs. The COVID-19 crisis influenced universities worldwide in early 2020. In Austria, all universities were closed in March 2020 as a preventive measure, and meetings with over 100 people were banned and a curfew was imposed. This development also had a massive impact on teaching, which in Austria takes place largely face-to-face. In this paper we would like to describe the situation of an Austrian
... [Show full abstract] university regarding e-learning before and during the first three weeks of the changeover of the teaching system, using the example of Graz University of Technology (TU Graz). The authors provide insights into the internal procedures, processes and decisions of their university and present figures on the changed usage behaviour of their students and teachers. As a theoretical reference, the article uses the e-learning readiness assessment according to Alshaher (2013), which provides a framework for describing the status of the situation regarding e-learning before the crisis. The paper concludes with a description of enablers, barriers and bottlenecks from the perspective of the members of the Educational Technology department. View full-text Last Updated: 11 Jun 2022
