What insights can be gained from the application of the Community of Practice construct to artistic instrumental teaching at higher music education institutions? Can we speak of communities of practice for learning and teaching in artistic main subject classes within higher music education institutions? What characteristics are there for communities of practice in artistic main subject classes within higher music education institutions? What recommendations can be derived from this for higher music education institutions? The present article first introduces the theoretical basics and leads into a practical research part, which is with recommendations.

[Show full abstract] primary schoolchildren while taking into account air pollution exposure. Methods Cognitive performance tests were administered repeatedly to a total of 307 primary schoolchildren aged 9-12y, living in Flanders, Belgium (2012–2014). These tests covered three cognitive domains: attention (Stroop and Continuous Performance Tests), short-term memory (Digit Span Forward and Backward Tests), and visual information processing speed (Digit-Symbol and Pattern Comparison Tests). Green space exposure was estimated within several radii around their current residence (50 m to 2000 m), using a aerial photo-derived high-resolution (1 m ² ) land cover map. Furthermore, air pollution exposure to PM 2.5 and NO 2 during the year before examination was modelled for the child’s residence using a spatial–temporal interpolation method. Results An improvement of the children’s attention was found with more residential green space exposure independent of traffic-related air pollution. For an interquartile range increment (21%) of green space within 100 m of the residence, a significantly lower mean reaction time was observed independent of NO 2 for both the sustained-selective (-9.74 ms, 95% CI: -16.6 to -2.9 ms, p = 0.006) and the selective attention outcomes (-65.90 ms, 95% CI: -117.0 to -14.8 ms, p = 0.01). Moreover, green space exposure within a large radius (2000 m) around the residence was significantly associated with a better performance in short-term memory (Digit-Span Forward Test) and a higher visual information processing speed (Pattern Comparison Test), taking into account traffic-related exposure. However, all associations were attenuated after taking into account long-term residential PM 2.5 exposure. Conclusions Our panel study showed that exposure to residential surrounding green space was associated with better cognitive performances at 9–12 years of age, taking into account traffic-related air pollution exposure. These findings support the necessity to build attractive green spaces in the residential environment to promote healthy cognitive development in children.

[Show full abstract] desulfurization of landfill biogas is a factor that has not yet been thoroughly investigated. The present study evaluates the microbial composition and methane assimilation activity of three microbial samples obtained when feeding different nitrate sources, namely nitrified landfill leachate (M1) or chemical nitrate (M2, M3) with 10 days (M2) and 1.5 days (M3) hydraulic residence times. The samples were characterized by the prevalence of sulfide oxidizing bacteria [Thiomicrospira (11.4–25.5 %), Family Rhodobacteraceae (9.9–14.3 %), Sulfurimonas (0.34–17.9 %), Thioclava (0–23.5 %) and Arcobacter (0–11.5 %)], as well as the presence of methane oxidizing bacteria [Halomonas (0.2–16.0 %), Methylophaga (0–0.2 %) and Methylophilacea (0–0.1 %)] and heterotrophic bacteria [Lentimicrobium (0.1–9.7 %) and Roseovarius (0.1–1.2 %)]. The highest CH4 assimilation levels were reached under anoxic conditions at 34.0 and 50.1 g CH4 m⁻³ h⁻¹ using nitrate and nitrite, respectively. The oxygen present in the landfill biogas itself had a detrimental effect on the anoxic bioreactor nitrate removal efficiency. The presence of organic matter in the nitrified influent gave rise to CH4 inside the anoxic desulfurization bioreactors, which resulted in the offsetting of the CH4 oxidation caused by methane-oxidizing bacteria (MOB).

Single-Molecule Tracking Dataset of Histone H3 (Hht1) in Saccharomyces cerevisiae.

[Show full abstract] Saccharomyces cerevisiae. We acquired the time-lapse movies using different time intervals (i.e. 15 ms, 200 ms, and 1000 ms) to extract the diffusion parameters (from 15 ms time interval movies) and residence time (from 200 ms and 1000 ms time interval movies). We tracked the single molecules from these movies using three MATLAB-based software packages (MatlabTrack, TrackIT, DiaTrack (Sojourner, and Spot-On)) to quantify various biophysical parameters. In this article, we have quantified the biophysical parameters of chromatin-bound histone H3 (Hht1), labeled using JF646 HaloTag Ligand (HTL), and shared a few raw time-lapse SMT movies for the same. Histone H3 is a chromatin-bound protein and it serves as a benchmark for the stably bound molecules for the SMT experiments. Hence, this dataset can be used by various researchers to quantify the biophysical parameters of chromatin-bound molecules (Histone H3). Any newly developed tracking software can use this dataset to validate the accuracy of its tracking algorithms.
