Abstract

What insights can be gained from the application of the Community of Practice construct to artistic instrumental teaching at higher music education institutions? Can we speak of communities of practice for learning and teaching in artistic main subject classes within higher music education institutions? What characteristics are there for communities of practice in artistic main subject classes within higher music education institutions? What recommendations can be derived from this for higher music education institutions? The present article first introduces the theoretical basics and leads into a practical research part, which is with recommendations.
