... [Show full abstract] improvement. These technologies are being utilized in traditional teaching and open distance learning. The objectives of teacher education in open and distance learning are dependent upon various factors which contribute significantly in school training programmes. The programmes attempt to implement various strategies that may help to understand the nature of teacher education and emphasis the key areas which can be evaluated through performance application of current teaching techniques and through information communication technologies. In various rural and remote areas learners are not aware of modern teaching technologies and they do not know how to use these technologies in education. This paper will highlight the issue as to how can teachers use communication technologies in effective way in education through open and distance learning. What are the psychological barriers and the stereotype notions found in regular conventional learners and distance learners? And lastly, the paper will suggest various ways in which these barriers can be broken down to integrate the wholesome essence of distance learning in teacher education.
