Life expectancy is getting longer, and the number of older adults in society is increasing. The frequency of comorbidity and multimorbidity increases with age, making polypharmacy a more important problem. Polypharmacy, the most common geriatric syndrome in clinical practice, has unfavorable health and economic consequences. Deprescribing is a valuable approach that can be used to reduce polypharmacy. It describes interventions by a healthcare professional with drugs that no longer benefit or harm the patient. It is a therapeutic attempt to reduce the dose or to stop the use of the drug completely. It is part of good drug therapy. In this article, the priority patient profile for which drug reduction is recommended, the guidelines and tools that can be used in this process, and the difficulties encountered in this process, and potential solution suggestions are included.
