Splicing was also a common technique used in linen production during the Chalcolithic period in the southern Levant (Shamir 2015) and was also commonly used in ancient Egypt (Cooke et al. 1991;Granger-Taylor 1998Kemp and Vogelsang-Eastwood 2001;Dickey 2019).
