BIZOVAC THERMAL SPA - HEALING WATER IN THE HEART OF SLAVONIA (Bizovačke toplice – ljekovita voda u srcu Slavonije)

Abstract

By the end of August 1970 in Bizovac, instead of the expected oil, thermal water with a temperature of 96.8 ° C flowed from the Bizovac-2 wells. Laboratory analysis determined that found thermal water belonged to the group of highly mineralized thermal waters with iodine content above 1 mg/l, i.e. to the group of iodine-saline hyperthermal waters. With the construction and opening of the first swimming pool facilities in 1974, the use of Bizovac water for tourist and medical purposes began. Mineralization of almost 3880 mg/l enabled further construction of accommodation facilities, e.g. Hotel Termia, Polyclinic for Medical Rehabilitation in 1990, modern bathing complex Aquapolis in 1997 and the largest pool with artificial waves in Croatia in 2015. These, during the last decades, positioned Bizovac and Bizovačke toplice at the very top of the list of indispensable touristic destinations in eastern Croatia, and desirable place for the treatment of diseases and injuries of the locomotor system as well.
