BABY BOOMERS, X, Y, Z KUŞAKLARININ SOSYAL MEDYA KULLANIM DÜZEYLERİ VE TERCİHLERİ

Abstract

Bu araştırma, Eskişehir İli Odunpazarı ve Tepebaşı ilçelerinde ikamet eden ve farklı kuşakları temsil ettiği kabul edilen bireylerin sosyal medya kullanım düzeyleri ve tercihlerini “süreklilik” ve “yetkinlik” boyutu açısından ele alan bir araştırmadır. Araştırmada tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Tarama modeli, çok sayıda elemanın oluşturduğu bir evrende, evren hakkında genel bir kanıya varmak amacıyla evrenin tamamı yahut ondan alınacak bir grup üzerinde yapılan tarama kodifikasyonudur (Karasar, 2012). Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu kent merkezinde yaşayan 877 kişi oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın verileri Deniz ve Tutgun-Ünal (2019) tarafından geliştirilen “Sosyal Medya Kullanımı Ölçeği” kullanılarak çevrimiçi ortamda toplanmıştır. Araştırmada elde edilen bulgular; (1) Kuşaklar sosyal medya ağlarına erişimde en çok akıllı telefon kullanmaktadır. (2) Baby Boomer ve X kuşağı en çok Facebook’u kullanmayı tercih ederken, Y ve Z kuşağı ise en çok İnstagram’ı kullanmaktadır. (3) Baby Boomer, Y ve Z kuşakları sosyal medyada en fazla video ve müzik içeriklerini beğenirken, X kuşağı ise en fazla haber içeriklerini beğenmektedir. (4) Kuşaklar süreklilik ve yetkinlik boyutlarında sosyal medyayı orta düzeyde kullanmaktadır. (5) Y ve Z kuşağı Baby Boomer ve X kuşağına göre sosyal medya kullanımında süreklilik sağlamakta ve kendilerini bu konuda daha yetkin bulmaktadırlar. (6) Z kuşağı kadınları aynı kuşakta bulunan erkeklere göre sosyal medya kullanımında süreklilik sağlayan cinsiyeti temsil etmektedir.

ABSTRACT
This research is one that addresses the social media usage levels and preferences of
 Province which
are considered to represent different generations, in terms of "continuity" and "competence"
dimension. The research used a screening model. The screening model is a screening
codification on the entire population or a group to be taken from it to come to a general
conclusion about the population, in a population of many elements (Karasar, 2012). The study
group comprises 877 people living in the city center. Data from the research was collected
online using the "social media usage scale" developed by Deniz and Tutgun-
The findings of the study are that (1) the generations use smartphones the most in accessing
social media networks. (2) Generation X and Baby Boomer prefer to use Facebook the most,
while generation Y and Z use Instagram the most. (3) The Baby Boomer, Y, and Z
generations mostly like video and music content on social media, while Generation X mostly
likes news content. (4) Generations use social media moderately in the dimensions of
continuity and competence. (5) Generation Y and Z have continuity in social media usage
and find themselves more competent in this regard compared to Baby Boomer, and
Generation X. (6) Generation Z women represent gender that provides continuity in social
media use compared to men who are in the same generation.

Bu çalışmanın amacı, sosyal medya kullanıcısı olan üniversite öğrencilerinin siber insani değerler bağlamında saygılı, doğru ve dürüst davranma, hoşgörülü, barışçıl ve dayanışma içinde olma olarak tanımlanan değerler bakımından incelenmesidir. Nicel araştırma yöntemine göre tasarlanan bu çalışmada tarama deseni kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın evren ve örneklemini 2021-2022 eğitim-öğretim yılında Aksaray Üniversitesi İİBF ile Ortaköy MYO’da öğrenim gören öğrenciler oluşturmaktadır. Toplanan verilerin analizinde non-parametrik testlerden faydalanılmıştır. Araştırma verileri ile yapılan analizler sonucunda; üniversite öğrencilerinin Siber İnsani Değer (SİD) puan ortalamaları dikkate alındığında, katılımcıların tutum ve davranışlarının insani değer merkezli olduğu, kadın ve erkek öğrencilerin sosyal medya mecrasında insani değerler bakımından benzer hassasiyete sahip oldukları belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca, öğrencilerin sosyal medya bağımlısı oldukları, sosyal medyada insani ve etik değerlerle bağdaşmayan paylaşımların yaygınlığına karşın, siber insani değerler konusunda oldukça hassas oldukları tespit edilmiştir. Öğrencilerin cinsiyet, yaş, öğrenim gördükleri birim ve sınıf düzeyi değişkenlerine göre siber insani değer puan dağılımları arasında anlamlı bir fark olmadığı tespit edilmiştir.

As a result of the spread of social networks rapidly via new media technologies affecting all generations all over the world online value transfer emerged. Value transfer between generations in online networks has increased the importance of social networks. Since the generation Z, who met and grew up with technology at a young age, will be different in business because of social network interaction. Thus, the main aim of this research is to investigate social media usage levels, preferences and educational usage of Z generation in Turkey. The research was carried out in a general survey model and the sample of the research consisted of 269 individuals of Z generations. The ‘social media usage scale’ which has two sub-scales named as ‘continuity’ and ‘competence’ developed by Deniz & Tutgun-Ünal (2019) was used to collect main data. Some of the major results are as follows: (a) The social media usage levels of Z generation is at moderate level; (b) Generation Z males perceive themselves more competent than females of the same generation; (c) As daily social media use increases, continuity and competence in social media use increases; (d) Z prefers to use Instagram most, YouTube come to second; (e) Generation Z follows educational content on the social media at thirty percent, while it follows video/music content more than eighty percent.

Bu araştırmada sosyal medya kullanımın her geçen gün hızla yayıldığı toplumda yer alan farklı kuşak-ların değişen değer ve davranışlarının belirlenebilmesi amacıyla bir dizi ölçek geliştirmek amaçlanmış-tır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu Baby Boomers kuşağı (1944-1964) ile Z kuşağı (2000-2020) ara-sında yer alan 516 kişi oluşturmuştur. Ölçeklerin geliştirilme aşamalarında yapı geçerliğinin sağlan-ması için açımlayıcı faktör analizi ve güvenilirliğinin sağlanması için ise Cronbach Alfa iç tutarlılık katsayıları kullanılmıştır. Yapılan geçerlilik ve güvenilirlik çalışmaları sonucunda üç bağımsız ölçek elde edilmiştir. Bu ölçekler Sosyal Medya Kullanımı Ölçeği, Çalışma Hayatı Ölçeği ve Farklılıkları Ka-bul Ölçeği olarak adlandırılmışlardır. Sosyal Medya Kullanımı Ölçeği, Süreklilik ve Yetkinlik adını alan iki alt ölçeğe sahiptir. Çalışma Hayatı Ölçeği, İşe Önem Verme ve Kurallara Uyma adını alan iki alt ölçeğe sahiptir. Farklılıkları Kabul Ölçeği ise Farklı Dini/Etnik Yapıları Kabul, Farklı Dış Görünüşleri Kabul ve Farklı Düşünceleri/Değerleri Kabul adını alan üç alt ölçeğe sahiptir. Tüm ölçek ve alt ölçekler geçerli ve güvenilir bulunmuştur. Elde edilen ölçeklerin araştırmacılar tarafından bağımsız olarak tek tek veya bir batarya olarak birlikte kullanılması umulmaktadır.

In our world where change is fast, the differences between family structures, social values, working lives and generations are changing rapidly. Throughout the history of mankind, each generation has made more progress and better conditions than ever before because it has more knowledge and skill than the previous generation. Because the interests of the human being are in their interests, their aims, feelings and needs change rapidly according to time and circumstances, the differences between generations have also changed accordingly. Since the aims, emotions and needs of man's structure have changed rapidly in every period, the intergenerational differences have also changed accor-dingly. In this day and age where digital technology has become an indispensable part of life in every field, we see this change in the generation called 'Z Generation', a generation that uses these techno-logies in an active and complicated way. As a result of this development, it is natural that the children born in this digital environment and growing by being influenced by this technology are also diffe-rentiated from their predecessors. This work; Literature scans and young people in the circle Z are also completed by observing the students from the university in this generation. The purpose of this study is to determine the characteristics of the generation called Z generation, which are defined as generation after 1995 and some generation after 2000, in some sources, enterprises, institutions, firms etc. in terms of employment. is to set out the attitudes and operating policies of the organizati-ons to attach and attach.
