VAN İLİNDE CEVİZ YETİŞTİRİCİLİĞİ
Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Mehmet BOZKOYUN (Orcid No: 0000-0003-0417-6495)
Harran Üniversitesi, Fen-Edebiyat Fakültesi, Coğrafya Bölümü, Şanlıurfa
ÖZET
Van ili, coğrafi bölge ayırımına göre Doğu Anadolu Bölgesinin Yukarı Murat-Van Bölümünde
yer almaktadır. Türkiye İstatistiki Bölge Birimleri Sınıflandırmasına (İBBS) göre ise düzey 2,
TRB2 Van alt bölgesi (Van-Muş-Bitlis-Hakkâri) içerisinde bulunmaktadır. İl genelinde
400.668 hektarlık tarım arazisinde birçok ürün (ekili-dikili) yetiştirilmektedir. Bu ürünler
içerisinde ceviz önemli bir yer tutmaktadır. Anavatanı Asya kıtası olan ceviz, günümüzde
dünyanın birçok ülkesinde yetiştirilmektedir. Dünya genelinde ceviz üretiminde başta gelen
ilk beş ülke, sırasıyla Çin (%56,1), ABD (%13,2), İran (%7,1), Türkiye (%5,0) ve Meksika’dır

WALNUT GROWING IN VAN PROVINCE
ABSTRACT
Van province is located in the Upper Murat-Van Section of the Eastern Anatolia Region,
according to the geographical division. According to the Turkish Statistical Regional Units
Classification (NUTS), level 2 is located within the TRB2 Van sub-region (Van-Muş-Bitlis-
Hakkari). Many crops (cultivated and planted) are grown on 400,668 hectares of agricultural
land throughout the province. Walnut has an important place among these products. Walnut,
whose homeland is the Asian continent, is grown in many countries of the world today. The top
five countries in walnut production worldwide are China (56.1%), USA (13.2%), Iran (7.1%),
Turkey (5.0%) and Mexico (3.8%). While annual production in Turkey was 126,000 tons in
2004, this number increased to 286,706 tons in 2020. However, despite this, Turkey is still a
walnut importing country. The number of walnut trees in Van province (according to 2020 data)
corresponds to 1% of the number of trees (walnuts) in Turkey and 21% of the number of trees
in the TRB2 region. However, for the same year, walnut production (tons) in Van corresponds
to 2% of the production in Turkey and 29% of the production in the TRB2 region. While the
walnut tree yield (kg) in Van is 32 on average, this figure is 23 for Turkey and 24 for the TRB2
region. According to the data of 2020, the highest amount of walnuts in the province; It is seen
that it is produced in Çatak (1802 tons), Gevaş (1451 tons) and Bahçesaray (1412 tons) counties.
On the other hand, in the same year, walnut production was the least in the district, and Gürpınar
is the district that stands out. However, while only the production data for the years 2004-2009
are available in Çaldıran district; there is no data on walnut production in Başkale, Özalp and
Saray districts. At this point, the aim of the study is to determine the current situation of walnut
production in the province, to reveal the problems related to walnut cultivation and to offer
suggestions for the development of walnut cultivation.

bitkisi olup; buradan Sincan’a (Doğu Türkistan), Kazakistan’ın bir kısmına, Özbekistan’a,
Kırgızistan’ın güneyine, buradan Nepal dağlarına, Tibet’e, Hindistan’ın kuzeyine ve Pakistan
üzerinden Afganistan’a, Tacikistan’a, Türkmenistan’a, İran’a, Irak’a, Azerbaycan’ın bir
kısmına, Ermenistan’a, Gürcistan’a, Türkiye’nin doğusuna ve giderek Türkiye’nin tamamına
Ceviz, kış ve ilkbahar aylarında soğuk bir ortam (soğuklama ihtiyacını karşılayacak kadar);

yetiştiricilik faaliyeti bir an önce terk edilmeli, bunun yerine günümüzün modern
teknolojileri ile üretim yapılmalıdır.
Farkındalığın düşük olası
Ceviz yetiştiriciliğinin ekonomik anlamda kârlı bir faaliyet olduğunun çiftçi tarafandan
bilinmesi bu sektörü canlandıracaktır.
Örgütlenmenin az olması
İlde ceviz üretici birliğinin kurulması girdi maliyetleri ve pazarlama konusunda çiftçiye
avantaj sağlayacaktır.
Depolama, paketleme, ambalajlama vb. destekleyici birimlerin eksikliği
