During her PhD, she studied Indian theatre and reported on the variety in the actor's body techniques. Pursuing her research beyond this context, she aims at challenging both epistemological and technological current advancements in movement capture and analysis in designing several trans-media installations that combine traditional performance and digital arts. The long-term goal of the project is to propose novel methodologies and interactive tools where knowledge is closely associated to body performance. This cross-disciplinary research aims at creating new archiving tools for social sciences and artistic practices, while questioning heritage conservation policies and the archival of technical gesture. CURRICULUM VITAE
Based on the analysis of concrete cases of performance, Anne Dubos’ research project aims to
analyse the transformation of human gesture through time and space. During her PhD, she
studied Indian theatre and reported on the variety in the actor’s body techniques. Pursuing her
research beyond this context, she aims at challenging both epistemological and technological
current advancements in movement capture and analysis in designing several trans-media
installations that combine traditional performance and digital arts. The long-term goal of the
project is to propose novel methodologies and interactive tools where knowledge is closely
associated to body performance. This cross-disciplinary research aims at creating new archiving
tools for social sciences and artistic practices, while questioning heritage conservation policies
and the archival of technical gesture.

RESEARCH PROJECTS
La Gestothèque
The project aims at designing tools to operate an archaeology of gesture. While the concrete analysis of
performances cases, aim to measure the gesture transformation through time and space. The ultimate
goal of the research is to design an interactive display where knowledge is delivered through an
interactive exhibition.
In collaboration with: IAS (Nantes), Mines-ParisTech, INREV (Paris 8), IRCAM (Paris)
Sonographies
Sonographies proposes an artistic and ethnographic research about sonic agency. How listening is
informed by subjective experiences and social context? how to observe how sound affects heterogeneous
subjects? and how to understand the perceptual, experiential, and social agency of sound? The
assumption is that listening is always already a performing of sound, and that sounding as a manifold
engagement connects affects and subjectivities directly to the environment.
In collaboration with: IRCAM (Paris), funded by the DRAC Rhônes-Alpes

Cosmophanies
Cosmophanies presents itself as an ethnographic research of Romanian bear dance, found in Neamt
County. It aims to show how dance is a manifestation of the landscape, through the bodies. The project
is about collecting sound and visual landscapes, in order to make them accessible in the form of
archives and to have them performed by dancers on stage.

IMAGES, DESIGN & EXHIBITIONS
Mars 2021
Paleograph2020, Museum of SaulgesCaves
Paléograph’ is the result of experimental research, both scientific and artistic, conducted by the
company Little Heart Movement and directed by Anne Dubos since 2015. Different disciplines meet
there: anthropology, choreography, graffiti, performance, engineering, digital arts, photography and
music. The piece invites the public to a sensory encounter with parietal art. The translation of these
ancestral works through the digital arts renews the discovery of the images and gestures of our
ancestors. An interactive screen allows the viewer to explore new scenes with representations of
Paleolithic art to contemporary works.

Les Mains Négatives, (in collaboration with Jasch & the ZhDK, Zurich)
As an echo to Aby Warburg’s Mnemosyne Atlas, the exploratory actions of the artist-researchers and the
public, engender a re-mediation of the archives. In a cyclical process of investigation, interpretation, and
construction, the various materials migrate between the digital and the physical bodies. How can a
technological apparatus manifest the performance of a gesture that is 40’000 years old, through an
iconological process?

Within the interactive and immersive configuration of the apparatus, the ontological state of the archives
is augmented with an altered epistemic plane. The materiality of the archived objects, as well as the
fluidity provided by the interactions contribute to the performance of meaning. This ‘mise-en-oeuvre’
generates an artistic object, whose primary basis is knowledge production through aesthetic experience.
