A yurveda has a holistic approach towards all the miseries of man, aging is one of
these. There is much consideration of Kāla in A yurveda as it includes Navadravya as nine
essential elements of life. On account of the interaction of Kāla, various changes occur in
the body during the period of ayu; these are natural and cannot be changed. According to
the type of changes that occur , the lifespan has been divided into parts, also known
as V aya the classification of vaya mentioned as V ayō bhedha.V aya is the time
measurement stages of life. There are various structural, functional and psychological
changes which account to growth, development, maturation and degeneration taking
place in different stages of life. This research aimed to study the relationship between
A yurveda and modern concepts of age classification by reviewing literature on A yurveda
authentic texts and modern texts and knowledge in a virtual environment. In modern
medical sciences utilize various concepts on age classifications based on various theories.
This research aimed to study the relationship between those concepts of age
classification. In A yurveda literatures mention that total age of a human being is
classified according to physical dynamics and in Kaumarabhritya, deals with first phase
of life which deals with the stage of development, most of classification based on the
basis of maturing anna vaha sr otas so the nature of food taken by the baby is mostly
questioned. With consideration of various classics in A yurveda and modern can directly
correlate, but in specific concepts based on describing treatment aspects, to calculate the
dose, to assess the developmental condition, for performing samskaras, for
immunization, also related with onset of diseases, are considered under V ayōbhēdha
concepts. Therefore according to the findings there are many unrevealed explanations on
age classification, having relationships with both systems of medicine.
