Abstract

An extensive checklist of the Cerambycidae deposited in the Entomological Collection of the Federal University of Rondônia (UNIR) is provided. The checklist includes photographs of 58 new records for the State of Rondônia, four of them representing new records for Brazil: Oncideres wappesi Martins & Galileo, 2005, Rhaphiptera boliviana Galileo & Martins, 2007, Tulcus liturus (Dillon & Dillon, 1945) and Xenofrea zischkai Galileo & Martins, 2012.

In this study, we used colored fruit-baited traps for trapping cerambycid beetles (Coleoptera: Chrysomeloidea: Cerambycidae) in the southwestern Brazilian Amazon, state of Rondônia, northern Brazil. Our collections revealed six new records for the state, Sphallotrichus bidens (Fabricius, 1801), Cosmoplatidius abare Napp & Martins, 2006, Chydarteres dimidiatus dimidiatus (Fabricius, 1787), Neolampedusa obliquator (Fabricius, 1801), Deltosoma fernandezi Dalens & Giuglaris, 2014, and Corimbion nigroapicatum Martins, 1970. The latter two also represent new records for Brazil. Photographs of the dorsal habitus of the six species are provided. We also provide distribution maps for D. fernandezi, previously recorded only from French Guiana, and C. nigroapicatum, previously known from Colombia and Bolivia. The use of colored fruit-baited traps for trapping Cerambycidae is briefly discussed in the light of published data and the new information provided herein.

Abstract In this work, a sorbent based on used tires was studied, which is a modern highly efficient environmentally friendly hydrophobic material capable of trapping oil and oil products, oil, diesel fuel, gasoline, toluene, and methanol, etc. on its surface. Studies have shown that rubber crumb, obtained as one of the trepartsart of used car tires, provides a high sorption capacity for oil absorption (1:5) and fast (in 15 seconds) sorption of an oil slick, significantly exceeding both in speed and degree of absorption knows known sorbents. The oil sorbent obtained by us based on rubber with a size of 0.3-0.8 mm is practically not wetted by water and can accent scanititsil products in an amount of 10-12 times its weight.

Colored traps can attract or repel insect species, and effects vary among biological groups. Cerambycidae and Cetoniidae are diverse Coleoptera families of ecological and economic importance in forest and agro-ecosystems. Here, we assessed the effectiveness of different colors of aerial fruit-baited traps in capturing Cerambycidae and Cetoniidae beetles in the Amazon rainforest. We evaluated 4 trap colors: blue, yellow, red, and transparent (control). We sampled Cerambycidae and Cetoniidae beetles from February 2022 to January 2024 in 5 Amazon forests. We collected a total of 1588 individuals and 18 species of Cerambycidae, and 345 individuals and 11 species of Cetoniidae. Species richness and composition of Cerambycidae and Cetoniidae beetles did not differ across the different trap colors. Blue traps exhibited lower abundance of Cerambycidae than did other trap colors. Transparent traps captured more common species (Shannon diversity) than red traps. Moreover, transparent traps harbored more dominant species (Simpson diversity) of Cerambycidae compared to other trap colors. A combination of factors involving the insect with its innate or learned ability to perceive different colors and the characteristics of local vegetation can influence insect preference for certain colors. Our findings provide evidence of the high efficiency of transparent traps for sampling the diversity of Cerambycidae and Cetoniidae beetles in the Amazon rainforest.

Acrocinini is a Neotropical tribe of Lamiinae (Cerambycidae) with a single species: Acrocinus longimanus (Linnaeus, 1758). Conspicuous autapomorphic characters in this species have led to divergent interpretations of the morphological body plan of the tribe and its affinities with species of Macropophora Thomson, 1864 and some species of Oreodera Audinet-Serville, 1835. Therefore, Acrocinini has not always been a monotypic tribe, and its taxonomic composition has changed according to the inclusive or exclusive placement of species of Macropophora and Oreodera. We carried out phylogenetic analyses, using maximum parsimony and Bayesian criteria, based on 34 morphological characters and 22 taxa in order to evaluate the taxonomic limits of Acrocinini and to infer the relationship among Acrocinus Illiger, 1806, Macropophora and Oreodera. Our results reveal a close relationship among these three genera, supported by six synapomorphies: prothorax with a suture surrounding the lateral tubercle; pronotum with linear coarse punctuation near posterior margin; protibia cylindrical; protibia with a projection near sulcus at inner face; protibia without a pair of apical spurs at inner margin; and protar-somere II longer than wide. New evidence confirms that Acrocinini includes Acrocinus, Macropophora and Oreodera, and increases the number of characters that define the tribe. Additionally, we present new records of Macropophora accentifer (Olivier, 1795) for Brazil (Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul) and of Macropophora trochlearis (Linnaeus, 1758) for Venezuela and Northern Brazil (Amapá, Acre and Rondônia).

Two new species of Neotropical Elaphidiini (Cerambycidae: Cerambycinae) are described and illustrated: Anelaphus fl avofasciatus sp. nov. from Colombia and Stizocera wappesi sp. nov. from Bolivia. Additionally, an updated key to South American species of Anelaphus Linsley, 1936 is provided. Anelaphus fasciatus Martins, 2005, syn. nov. and A. martinsi Monné, 2006, syn. nov., are synonymized with A. cerussatus (Newman, 1841).

The genus Trypanidius Blanchard, 1846 includes 15 species in the Neotropical Region, nine of which occur in South America. In this contribution, the genus and South American species are redescribed and Trypanidius mimicavus sp. nov. is described from Bolivia. New distributional data are given for T. andicola Blanchard, 1846; T. dimidiatus Thomson, 1860; and T. notatus (Fabricius, 1787). All species are illustrated and a key to all species is provided. Cerambycidae is one of the largest families of beetles and it is estimated that there are about 25,000 species of longhorned beetles in the world. However, little is known about the distribution of many species in some regions, including the Amazon. The longhorned beetles are indispensable in the ecological chain, contributing mostly to the recycling of dead wood in forest. The present study is an inventory of the Cerambycidae of the Parque Natural Municipal de Porto Velho, Rondônia, Brazil. Insects were sampled from June 2008 to May 2009 using Malaise and light traps. A total of 61 species were identified, of which 33 are new records for Rondônia and one for Amazon region, i.e., Anisopodus melzeri Gilmour, 1965.

Synopsis of the genus Brevoxathres Gilmour (Coleoptera, Cerambycidae). Brevoxathres is included in a group of five similar genera of Neotropical Acanthocinini. A key to identificate these genera is given. Sciadosurus Gilmour, 1962 is considered a new synonym of Brevoxathres. Two new species are described from Brazil: Brevoxathres seabrai sp. nov., from Espirito Santo and Rio de Janeiro and B. irrorata sp. nov. from Santa Catarina. A new combination, Brevoxathres albobrunnea (Gilmour, 1962), comb. nov., is proposed. A key to species is added.

Revision of the genus Physopleurus Lacordaire, 1869 and notes on Macrotomini (Coleoptera, Cerambycidae, Prioninae). The genus Physopleurus Lacordaire, 1869 = Basitoxus (Parabasitoxus) Fragoso & Monné, 1995 syn. nov. is revised and redefined based on new characters. Polyraphis Audinet-Serville, 1835, a genus belonging to the Lamiinae, and distributed between Mexico and South America, excluding Chile and under latitude 35°S, is reviewed. Three new species are described: P. baloupae, from French Guiana; P. lanei, from Brazil (Amazonas and Pará); P. peruana, from Peru. Two species are synonymyzed: P. testacea Lane, 1965 (= P. gracilis Bates, 1862) and P. paraensis [= P. papulosa (Olivier, 1795)]. Neotype to P. papulosa is designated. The authorship of P. horrida [= P. spinosa (Drury, 1773)] is commented. Cerambyx armatus Voet (1778?) is considered an invalid name and Lamia armiger Schöenherr, 1817 (= Polyrhaphis armiger) the valid name of the species. Polyrhaphis spinipennis Laporte, 1840, is excluded of the fauna of Colombia. New records: P. argentina Lane, 1978, for São Paulo state (Brazil); P. batesi Hovore & McCarty, 1998, for Ecuador; P. belti Hovore & McCarty, 1998 for Ecuador and Colombia; P. gracilis Bates, 1862, for French Guiana; and P. turnbowi Hovore & McCarty, 1998, in doubt, for Peru. Braconidae, the second most diverse family of Hy-menoptera, includes more than 15,000 species, but species richness is estimated in 100,000 (Hanson & Gauld 2006). The insect size varies from 1 to 30 mm, excluding ovipositor and antennae. Braconids are cosmopolitan (Gauld & Bolton 1988; Hanson & Gauld 2006) parasitoids of other insects such as Coleoptera and Lepidoptera (Gillot 2005). These wasps have an important role in the population dynamics of phytophagous insects, with emphasis on biological control of agricultural pests (Gauld & Bolton 1988; Gillot 2005). Diego & Campos (2001) reviewed the distribution of Braconidae genera recorded for the Neotropical region, par-ticularly to Colombia and in general for South America or Central America, without the exact notation of the records. In general, there are few systematic inventories describing the Amazon fauna of parasitoids (Ichneumonoidea). Feitosa et al. (2007) collected parasitic wasps in reserves 1112, 1208 and 1301 included in the BDFFP, and reported that the Braconidae comprised 93% of the wasps collected, therefore the most abun-dant family. Most studies focused on parasitoids of frugivo-rous insect larvae, e.g., Costa et al. (2009) found seven species of Braconidae of the subfamily Alysiinae and three Opiinae in the Adolpho Ducke forest reserve in Manaus. In a similar study, Thomazini & Albuquerque (2009) also reported three species of Opiinae parasitizing the larvae of fruit flies in Acre State. Pereira et al. (2010) related the first record of Doryctobracon areolatus (Szépligeti) and Opius bellus Gahan (Opiinae) in the larvae of fruit flies collected in Rondônia. In this sense, more studies on the diversity of insect para-sitoids in the Neotropical region, especially those that com-bining biology, distribution, behavior and related subjects are needed. Therefore, the present work aims to contribute with new data on the ecology and diversity of braconid in the Rondonia State, Brazil.

Aglaoschema Napp, 1994 and 17 species are redescribed. Aglaoschema viridipenne (Thomson, 1860) is revalidated and three new synonyms are proposed: Aglaoschema prasinipenne (Lucas, 1857) = A. nigricorne (Bates, 1870) syn. nov. = A. tibiale (Aurivillius,1920) syn. nov, and Aglaoschema rufiventre (Germar,1824) = A. erythrogaster (White, 1853) syn. nov. A revisão do gênero sul-americano Coccoderus é apresentada. Dez espécies são reconhecidas, das quais C. sexguttatus, considerada sinônimo de C. amazonicus, é revalidada. São fornecidas chave de identificação e ilustrações das espécies. A análise cladística, com 31 caracteres morfológicos e 12 táxons, resultou em dois cladogramas igualmente mais parcimoniosos e em ambos a monofilia de Coccoderus é suportada por cinco sinapomorfias. São incluídos notas sobre biogeografia e mapas de distribuição. Sete espécies ocorrem em simpatria no Cerrado, das quais duas espécies também ocorrem na Floresta Amazônica e duas na Mata Atlântica. Duas espécies ocorrem apenas na Floresta Amazônica e uma espécie nas matas orientais das encostas dos Andes.

Hammatoderus wappesi n. sp. and H. garciaorum n. sp. are described from Mexico, Veracruz and Oaxaca and Veracruz, respectively. Hammoderus brasiliensis Breuning, 1943 and Plagiohammus camillus Dillon & Dillon, 1949 are proposed as synonyms of Hammatoderus confusor (Dillon & Dillon, 1941); Plagiohammus rotundipennis Breuning, 1950 is proposed as a synonym of Hammatoderus pollinosus (Bates, 1880). A replacement name, Deliathis neonivea nom. nov., for Deliathis nivea (Breuning, 1943) n. comb., a secondary homonym of D. nivea Bates, 1869, is proposed. Three other new combinations are proposed: Deliathis imperatrix (Thomson, 1868) n. comb.; Monochamus sargi (Bates, 1885) n. comb.; and Monochamus blairi (Breuning, 1936) n. comb. Monochamus sargi and Hammatoderus pollinosus are redescribed. Hammatoderus sticticus (Bates, 1874) is newly recorded from Bolivia, with H. confusor newly recorded from Argentina and Colombia and its known distribution in Brazil expanded to include the state of Sao Paulo. Distribution of Deliathis imperatrix in Mexico is expanded to include the state of Morelos. A key to species of Hammatoderus and a key to species of Taeniotes “amazonum” group are also provided.

The genus Eburodacrys White, 1853 is redescribed. Four new species are proposed: Eburodacrys yolandae, from Colombia; E. eduardoi and E. bezarki, from Brazil, and E. santossilvai, from Venezuela. Eburodacrys curialis Gounelle, 1909; and Eburodacrys hesperidis Chemsak & Linsley, 1970 are proposed as synonyms of Eburodacrys nemorivaga Gounelle, 1909; and Eburodacrys amabilis Galileo & Martins, 2009 as synonym of Eburodacrys sulfurifera Gounelle, 1909. The genus is now composed of 89 species. The geographical distribution of 26 species is expanded and the specific locality in Colombia for E. ayri Galileo & Martins, 2006 and in Argentina for E. seabrai Zajciw 1958 are provided. Photographs of Eburodacrys species are included and a key to differentiate them is provided.

New distributional data are given for C. naevigera Bates, 1865, C. hirtipes (Degeer, 1775), C. appendiculata Aurivillius, 1902, C. assimilis Aurivillius, 1902, C. plagiata Aurivillius, 1902, and C. pictilis Bates, 1865. All the species are illustrated. A key to the Bolivian species is provided.

A key to the genera of South American Lepturini and keys to the South American species of Cyphonotida, Euryptera, Lycochoriolaus, Megachoriolaus and Strangalia are provided. Megachoriolaus clarkei Monné & Monné new species is described from Brazil (Rondônia) and Bolivia (Santa Cruz). The following new synonymies are proposed: Euryptera latipennis var. virgata Gounelle, 1911 and Euryptera brasiliensis Fuchs, 1956 = Euryptera latipennis Lepeletier & Audinet-Serville, 1828; Euryptera rotundipennis Fuchs, 1956 = Lycochoriolaus angustatus (Melzer, 1935). The following species are transferred from Euryptera: Lycochoriolaus ater (Gounelle, 1911) new combination, Megachoriolaus atripennis (Bates, 1870) new combination, M. bicolor (Gounelle, 1911) new combination and M. venustus (Breme, 1844) new combination. Lectotype designations are proposed for the following species: Euryptera leonina Gounelle, 1911, Euryptera latipennis var. virgata Gounelle, 1911 and Euryptera bicolor Gounelle, 1911.

The following new species are described: Nyctonympha andersoni, sp. n., and N. howdenarum, sp. n., both from Colombia; N. genieri, sp. n., from Ecuador; N. taeniata, sp. n., from Trinidad; Falsamblesthis microps, sp. n., from Venezuela; Bactriola circundata, sp. n., from Brazil (Rio de Janeiro); B. maculata, sp. n., from Venezuela and Ecuador; and B. falsa, sp. n., from Brazil (Minas Gerais to Rio Grande do Sul). A redescription of Bactriola vittulata Bates, 1886, herein designated as the type species of the genus, is provided. Accurate data on the occurrence of Saepiseuthes chilensis Thomson, 1868, in Chile are given. Keys to the species of Bactriola Bates, 1886 and Nyctonympha Thomson, 1868 are added.

Seventy-nine Cerambycidae and two Vesperidae species not previously recorded from Bolivia are listed along with the department where they were collected, and are thus added to the known fauna. An additional 22 species from existing publications, but whose Bolivian distribution is not recorded in the 2013 version of Bezark and Monné (2013), are listed separately to assist inclusion in this important reference. These records, along with the 60 new species described (through February, 2013) since Wappes et al. (2011), brings the total number of Cerambycidae and, closely related families Disteniidae, Oxypeltidae and Vesperidae, to 1,717 species known from Bolivia. New departmental records for another 254 species are listed. Color illustrations for 80 of the 81 species newly recorded from Bolivia are provided. Among the new records for Bolivia is Lathroeus oreoderoides Thomson, 1864 previously known only from South America without exact locality, hence this is its first recorded distribution. A male of Myzomorphus Dejean, 1835 collected at the same time and locality as a female Myzomorphus amabilis (Tippmann, 1960) is likely the previously unknown male of the species. Both sexes are illustrated. Adicionalmente, 22 especies tomadas de las publicaciones existentes, pero cuya distribución en Bolivia no se registra en la versión 2013 de Bezark y Monné (2013), se enumeran por separado para ayudar a su inclusión en esta importante referencia. Estos registros, junto con las 60 nuevas especies descritas (hasta febrero de 2013), desde Wappes et al. (2011), hacen que el número total de Cerambycidae y familias relacionadas Disteniidae, Oxypeltidae y Vesperidae, suba a 1,717 especies ya conocidas de Bolivia. Nuevos registros de departamento de otras 254 especies están incluidas y se proveen fotos a color para 80 de las 81 especies que se agregan. Uno de los nuevos registros para Bolivia es Lathroeus oreoderoides Thomson, 1864. Este es el primer registro para el país y localidad de la especie. Un macho de Myzomorphus Dejean, 1835 capturado al mismo tiempo y en la misma localidad como que una hembra de Myzomorphus amabilis (Tippmann, 1960) es probablemente el macho previamente desconocido de la especie. The genus Macronemus Dejean, 1835 is redescribed and two new species are described: Macronemus mimus sp. nov. from Brazil (Bahia to Santa Catarina) and Argentina and Macronemus giuglarisi sp. nov. from French Guiana and Brazil (Amapá, Amazonas). M. verrucosus (Pascoe, 1866) is considered a new synonym of M. asperulus White, 1855. New distributional data and a key to the seven species of the genus are provided.

The genus Susuacanga Martins, 1997 is redescribed. A new combination, S. blancaneaui (Bates, 1880) comb. nov. and a new synonymy, Eburia unicolor Bates, 1870 = S. octoguttata (Germar, 1821) are proposed. The genus is now composed of 12 species. The geographical distribution of S. opaca is expanded to include Belize. Photographs of Susuacanga species are included and a key to differentiate them is provided.
