Abstract

Connecting actors and creating new understandings and relationships are essential for Water Sensitive Cities. Despite the broad academic research discourse in transdisciplinarity, it is unclear how it looks like in practice and how actors interact and engage in different practices to obtain effective environmental outcomes. The aim of this paper is to explore transdisciplinary practices within the local governments of Australia. The This analysis is based on current scientific literature, mainly on contextual factors in transdisciplinarity and its relation to organisational dynamics of the local government in Victorias. Organizational commitment, participatory leadership and networks influence transdisciplinary practices. However, transdisciplinary training and social learning is are considered crucial for to facilitate transdisciplinarity.
