... Utilization warehouses had already lately grown in popularity and sophistication, with more innovative technology being implemented in this field. As according our knowledge and evaluate of an essay, the electronic warehouse provides an unprecedented opportunity for a real-time monitoring system (JIT) just-in-time tracking system in the warehouse, warehouse operations design, optimal storage location, warehouse operation efficiency, a real-time location system to improve warehouse safeness, as well as the obstacles that all of these characteristics encounter in an impactful warehouse [6]. Based on a variety of problems, which include underlying sound and a volume of data, it remains extremely difficult to successfully implement in a storage facility, although with the great chance. ...
... The same astronomically high obstacles to stockroom utilisation demand far more sophisticated approaches than those lately implemented for organising and enhancing warehouse operations [12]. In a storage facility, determining the warehouse's capacity for material development, stockpiling, and data exchange would be another crucial duty [6]. Material production, stockpiling, and information transmission are essential components of warehouse performance in a distribution network. ...
... The storage method used can significantly impact warehouse efficiency and properties. The study [6] found that the use of automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS) can improve warehouse efficiency by reducing order processing times and improving inventory accuracy. Another study [35] found that the use of high-density storage systems, such as pallet racking, can improve storage density and increase warehouse capacity. ...
... The use of robots in material handling is done by incorporating radio frequency identification (RFID), which will be connected to computer programming by integrating tools such as material resource planning and enterprise resource planning to streamline material handling data management (M. Shashidharan et al., 2021). This planning software supports effective inventory management by performing replenishment on a precise schedule and maintaining optimal quantities in real-time. ...

Warehouses play an important role in the supply chain by serving as a link between producers and end consumers. Warehouses not only serve as a place to store goods, but also have other important functions. Operational efficiency and logistics control in finished goods warehouses are increasingly becoming an urgent need for companies in various industries. However, ineffective warehouse management can lead to negative impacts such as decreased profits and customer dissatisfaction. Therefore, efforts are needed to manage warehouses with good efficiency and structure. This article discusses the concept of Warehouse Management System (WMS) and finished goods warehouse management in an effort to improve operational efficiency and logistics control. Through a qualitative approach with data acquisition using literature review from various relevant sources, the relationship between the use of WMS and increased productivity in a company is examined. The results showed that there was a significant improvement in the performance of a company. The WMS is proven to increase the number of orders received and the company’s operational efficiency. WMS aids inventory management with real-time stock data, preventing shortages or excesses. Successful implementation demands proper strategy, tech utilization, planning, system integration, and employee training. Thus, WMS implementation can bring about positive changes in warehouse operational efficiency, inventory optimization, and meeting customer needs.

Technological innovations and the variety of customers’ requirements have increased competitiveness lately. Facility layout design also became critical for gaining a competitive advantage in terms of service time and operational efficiencies. A facility layout design is a term used to describe the process of arranging sections and distributing them in a facility. Inappropriate facility layout design causes cost and time waste in organizations. As a result,; this research created an implementation for a container cleaning firm with facility layout design issues. This research aims to identify factors influencing facility layout planning through decision-making methodologies, redesign the company's warehouse plan, and select the optimum warehouse placement. In-warehouse layout design methodologies will be employed to achieve an optimal in-warehouse settlement. SWARA (Step-wise Weight Assessment Ratio Analysis), a method for formulating multi-criteria decisions, was used first and foremost. Then, using BLOCPLAN, one of the heuristic improvement methodologies, a new layout was given based on the information received from the firm. The improvement obtained as a result of the suggested new settlement was detected aafter the investigation, and it was observed that it delivered better results.
... Establishing a proper strategy of the warehouse operation to gain a competitive advantage is essential for any business enterprise. It has acted as the hub, the nodes to be connected to the respective spokes, which is used to enhance responsiveness to customers and profitability for a company (Shashidharan, 2021). In addition, warehousing is attracting increased attention (Kembro, Norrman, & Eriksson, 2018). ...
... As the company's trade volume increases, the number of supply chains of goods also increases. This takes the form of a complex and integrated supply chain network in which many storage units and racks of a warehouse can be linked to each other or work independently [7]. The maintenance and management of such a complex network are challenging, and even more tedious tasks are monitoring and tracking all the goods. ...

The world has witnessed the digital transformation and Industry 4.0 technologies in the past decade. Nevertheless, there is still a lack of automation and digitalization in certain areas of the manufacturing industry; in particular, warehouse automation often has challenges in design and successful deployment. The effective management of the warehouse and inventory plays a pivotal role in the supply chain and production. In the literature, different architectures of Warehouse Management Systems (WMSs) and automation techniques have been proposed, but most of those have focused only on particular sections of warehouses and have lacked successful deployment. To achieve the goal of process automation, we propose an Internet-of-Things (IoT)-based architecture for real-time warehouse management by dividing the warehouse into multiple domains. Architecture viewpoints were used to present models based on the context diagram, functional view, and operational view specifically catering to the needs of the stakeholders. In addition, we present a generic IoT-based prototype system that enables efficient data collection and transmission in the proposed architecture. Finally, the developed IoT-based solution was deployed in the warehouse of a textile factory for validation testing, and the results are discussed. A comparison of the key performance parameters such as system resilience, efficiency, and latency rate showed the effectiveness of our proposed IoT-based WMS architecture.

Meta-heuristics are widely used methods in OR literature. Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA) is one of these meta-heuristic methods which is recently developed. The objective of this study is to find the best possible job schedule while minimizing the make-span (i.e., the length of time elapsed from the beginning of first job to the end of the last job.) of the system. This problem is initially solved by using Optimization Programming Language namely CPLEX Studio IDE 20.1.0. Then, WOA which is a current meta-heuristic, used to solve the same problem. Some toy instances of different sizes are created and the results obtained by using CPLEX and WOA are compared. Although, in some studies in the literature, WOA is used to solve job shop scheduling problems, there is not a study which uses WOA as a solution methodology for parallel machine job scheduling problem with machine eligibility consideration to the best of our knowledge. Thus, the main contribution of this study is to include machine eligibility to the conventional job scheduling problem and to use WOA while solving the corresponding problem.

This study solves a one-dimensional cutting stock problem with multiple stock lengths. It is applied in a manufacturing setting where rolls of steel rods of different lengths are cut according to customer requirements. The one-dimensional cutting stock problem (CSP) is an NP-hard problem, including discrete demands and capacitated planning objectives. It is solved using column generation techniques. This study aims to develop a production plan that minimizes the waste of cutting steel rods of different lengths and diameters in required lengths. The approach to solving the problem has two steps. The first step is a heuristic algorithm that produces a cutting pattern at every iteration, which is then fed into a novel mathematical model to determine an optimal solution. An initial solution is obtained using randomly generated cutting patterns for the mathematical model. The algorithm terminates after a given number of iterations. The paper also proposes a Decision Support System, addresses application issues, and concludes with further studies.

Warehouses are junction points in the supply chain. To avoid disruptions in the supply chain flow, the materials stored in the warehouse must be safely protected and made available for the next transportation activity. Warehouse personnel are critical in ensuring full-time material flow. For the administrative dimension, warehouse managers are the leaders responsible for the successful execution of all warehouse input-output processes. Therefore, a successful warehouse manager is needed for successful warehouse operations. The aim of this research is to determine the warehouse manager selection criteria and to select the best warehouse manager among the candidate with using multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) methods as a hybrid. In the literature, it is seen that the manager selection problem is overseen with various MCDM methods. In this study, eight warehouse manager selection criteria were determined and their weights were calculated by the criteria importance through inter-criteria correlation based on single-valued neutrosophic set method (SVNS-CRITIC) method. Four alternatives were ranked with the multi-objective optimization by ratio analysis based on single-valued neutrosophic sets (SVNS-MULTIMOORA) method. The manager selection was made for the general warehouse owned by a company operating in Turkey. A team consisting of two experts and a proficient manager was established to evaluate the candidates. As a result of the application, the most important warehouse manager selection criterion is determined as the skills of managers to manage warehouse input-output and storage activities. In addition, the best manager candidate was determined for the general warehouse. According to the results of the research, suggestions were developed for warehouse manager candidates and researchers. With this research, it has been brought to the literature that warehouse manager selection criteria and SVNS-CRITIC-MULTIMOORA hybrid method can be used in manager selection problems.
