Many of the tools used for virtual teaching during the pandemic had not been used previously, but they could continue to be used when traditional teaching returns. For this reason, this study focused on locating the key motivational factors for the possible continuation of the use of one of these tools, videoconferencing, to carry out tutorials in Spanish universities as a complement to face-to-face tutorials. For this, a literary review was conducted to obtain a list of motivational factors that may influence teachers to continuing using it, and a causal study was performed with university professors (through fuzzy cognitive maps) to identify the causal relationships among these factors and classify them by their relevance in making a decision. The most influential factors are intention, attitude and perceived compatibility with how tutorials are given, and the negative factors include quality management and trust.
... Regarding the number of participants in studies that use this type of methodology, this is determined by the appearance of new criteria in each of the interviews that are carried out; thus, the number of participants is considered optimal when the number of criteria involved stabilizes as interviews are conducted and when new criteria no longer appear as interviews are conducted [48]. This means that there are studies with this type of methodology with 45 [49], 41 [50], 40 [51], 29 [49], 8 [52][53][54][55], 7 [43], and 4 participants [56]. ...

The level of implementation of IoT technology in Spanish companies is not low for a novel technology, but there are concerns that hinder its level of implementation from being higher: initial costs, security, and privacy. These concerns could be solved with the choice of the appropriate IoT platform, but it must be taken into account that there are numerous criteria that participate in this decision that influence each other. This could give rise to criteria not being considered at first, even though they should be taken into account in this choice. Existing studies do not consider this. Thus, the objective of this study was to find out what are the key criteria to be taken into account by Spanish companies when choosing an IoT platform. The criteria were located through a literary review, and classified according to their level of importance in this decision through a causal study carried out with the methodology of fuzzy cognitive maps. The results achieved showed that there were key criteria beyond the criteria directly implied by the concerns, such as stability, scalability, flexibility, and interoperability, and these new criteria acquired the same or greater importance.

The virtualization of university teaching in Spain caused by the pandemic was a success, but the urgent nature of the transition from face-to-face teaching to online teaching meant that some peculiarities that should have been taken into account were omitted. Thus, in order to find out and analyze the factors causing the success of this virtualization and take measures to address the weak points of this process as teachers may want to maintain the use of online teaching as support for their face-to-face teaching, these factors were located through a literature review and were classified according to their level of importance in this success through a causal study carried out with the methodology of fuzzy cognitive maps. The results achieved indicated the determining factors in students, involving their attitude, aptitude and predisposition, which are factors where the work of the teacher is of main relevance (as it exerts the greatest influence on these factors). For this reason, technological attitude and aptitude, teaching style, and the creation and structuring of content should be reinforced in teachers.

In this paper, different proposals made by national and international organizations and institutions on Teacher Digital Literacy are taken into account. The 7 most commonly used competence frameworks in international contexts are presented for evaluation through expert judgment. Next, the most suitable for the subsequent realization of a t-MOOC on Teacher Digital Literacy was selected. The selection of these experts was based on seven criteria that helped to establish the expert knowledge coefficient (EKC). This strategy served to obtain the viability of the selected sample. A total of 412 people, 155 experts and 257 non-experts participated in this study. After conducting the expert judgment, in a single round, it was concluded that the European Framework of Digital Competence for Teachers DigCompEdu is the most valued and adequate to be used as reference for the formative t-MOOC, followed by INTEF. This result is logical, since the latter is inspired by the former. These findings do not question the validity of the other competency frameworks, but the preferences granted by the judges.

The global pandemic of COVID-19 has led to the suspension of teaching activities in many countries. In the university environment, the urgent transformation of the face-to-face classes to an online format has been carried out in a way that can be described as generally acceptable, being aware that the measures taken have been due to the urgency and not to a priori planning to teach a subject entirely with an online methodology. However, having to face an online evaluation is something that the face-to-face universities, and most of the distances or online universities, had never faced from an institutional perspective. The teaching staff and students, therefore, have to give a response that integrates methodological and technological decisions, while ensuring equity, legal certainty and transparency for all actors, internal and external. The Group of Online Teaching Managers of the Public Universities of Castilla y León has prepared a guide with recommendations to help teachers and universities in this process. The essence of this guide is presented in this article to make these recommendations available to a higher number of teachers who share this problem at this time worldwide.

Most online teaching institutions still do not offer complete remote teaching, requiring the physical presence of the student in the evaluation process (for supervisory reasons), which could aggravate the evaluation and certification in massive open online teaching. Although there are already e-proctoring tools (electronic proctoring) that allow this process to be carried out remotely, without requiring that physical presence. For this reason, and in order that this complete remote teaching is extended to institutions that do not yet believe in the success of its implementation, this study focuses on locating, through a bibliographic study and a causal study carried out by experts in Online teaching, the determining motivational factors when accepting and implementing this evaluation system as a method of remote supervision and tries to encourage its use through them. The list obtained consists of the following motivational factors: quality management, available information, external conditioning, trust, perceived compatibility, perceived usefulness, attitude and intention, and the most decisive factor in this whole process is trust (which would be the extent of security and privacy that institutions have in the use of this tool).

AbSTRACT. The non-attendance education model is increasingly widespread in university education, including universities traditionally oriented towards face-to-face teaching, regardless of whether they are public or private. Many universities have already been funded with an educational model oriented towards non-attendance and, in recent years, turned to 100% online education. In these cases, the organizational and faculty structure of the university is oriented towards this form of teaching. however, when a face-to-face university, with its dynamics and idiosyncrasies, decides to incorporate the non-face-to-face model into its catalogue of official degrees, it cannot duplicate its organizational structures. It must combine its traditional procedures with the new requirements of the non-face-to-face offer. This integration, if it is to be successful, must be done from a strategic perspective that goes from the government team to the rest of the academy, including the teaching staff, students and service personnel. This article presents a reference model that each face-to-face university can adapt to its needs and to its particular strategy on how it understands and wants to approach distance learning. Nobody doubts the importance of digital influencers in the selection and acquisition of new products and services. In the specific field of literary reading, literary blogs, booktubers and specialized websites that act as prescribers of reading stand out. In this study, a descriptive research model has been used in which a multivariate analysis of the main sociodemographic characteristics, assessments, readings and activities developed by the 100 most important reading influencers in Spain has been carried out. For this, data has been taken from the most widely used reading cataloging platform: Goodreads. It has been found that it is mainly about women with a developed reading habit and with an effervescent and extensive experience in literary blogs, thematic social networks, etc. In addition, the results show that as influencers evolve as readers they become more demanding in their valuations and that translates into greater influence. His recognition in the platform, therefore, is subject to his reading experience, his critical capacity and his personal criteria. Finally, it has been learned that the canon of authors and works best valued by these relevant users is heterogeneous, although there is a certain predominance of works and authors of Juvenile Literature and bestsellers.

Digital competence is a basic skill for citizens and should be systematically assessed, taking into account characteristics such as knowledge, skills and attitudes. However, measuring and identifying the digital competence of students is still a major challenge. To this end, the indicator model (INCODIES) has been developed and validated following the structure of the DIGCOMP model, which can be used to create assessment tests that measure student digital competence when they have completed their compulsory education. This article presents the results of a process of content validation carried out by 77 experts, in both the school and the university context. The analysis of the experts’ assessments and the level of agreement among those rating them were carried out following an original method which consists of determining a quantitative index for the validity of content called the Content Validity Ratio (CVR). The results obtained allowed us to confirm that the competences included in the reference framework DIGCOMP are correctly represented in the items formulated for the INCODIES model, which obtained high content validity. The model can serve as a structure and basis for the designing of specific evaluation tests on this topic.

Isabel. ABSTRACT. This article discusses the perceptions of fifth and sixth Primary school teachers about the assessment, use and training of teachers on Digital Didactic Materials (hereinafter MDD). For this purpose, semi-structured interviews have been conducted with teachers from three Autonomous Communities (Galicia, Canarias and Valencia). In this qualitative work the results show that teachers consider it necessary to use this type of resources in the classroom since they are very present in the daily life of the students. They also advocate the creation of their own materials in order to adapt them to the particular characteristics of the group-class, providing a proposal of contextualized teaching and learning. As major difficulties in the design of digital materials, teachers point to the short lifespan of MDD as they must be continuously updated, the amount of time they need to develop them as well as technical limitations to achieve an attractive, coherent and functional end resource. We are dealing with complex work, so there is a need to continue to investigate the perspectives of teachers in the creation and use of MDD in Primary Education. Fuzzy cognitive mapping was used to develop a participatory ecosystem management plan for Uluabat Lake, Turkey. Interviews were conducted with stakeholders belonging to six different groups. Lake pollution was the most central and most mentioned variable for stakeholders. Stakeholder groups agree that lake pollution is negatively affecting ecosystem health and thereby local economies. Thus, reducing lake pollution was chosen as the overall goal for the management plan. Possible ways to reduce lake pollution and increase ecosystem health were seen differently by the different groups. Hunters, factory managers, NGO personnel, and local people thought industry was the main cause of lake pollution, while officials from the government and local municipalities thought roads and urban development contributed the most to lake pollution. Generally the stakeholder groups did not perceive their own actions as affecting the lake as strongly as other groups thought. For example, factory managers viewed factory pollution as negatively affecting the lake but less strongly than the other groups did. According to policy option simulations, reducing lake pollution had positive effects on all variables, especially fish, birds, animal husbandry, irrigation, agriculture, and the ecological balance of the lake. Results of this analysis were used to facilitate meetings among stakeholder groups and to develop a participatory ecosystem management plan. The analysis was useful for pointing out the similarities as well as the differences among the groups. It also helped the facilitators understand the focus of each stakeholder group and enabled them to suggest activities in which each group would want to participate.

New technologies have transformed higher education whose application has implied changes at all levels. These changes have been assimilated by the university community in various ways. Subtle differences among university students have emerged; these differences determine that the resources the network offers have been used in different ways, thus creating gaps in the university population. This study seeks to determine the level of incidence of the variable of university students’ incomes on the uses and intensity of use of the Internet tools and resources. Students were classified using factor analysis complemented through cluster analysis in order to obtain user profiles; these profiles were verified by means of discriminant analysis. Finally, chi-square was applied to determine the relationship between income level and user profiles. As a result, three profiles were identified with different levels of use and intensity of use of the Internet tools and resources, and statistically the incidence of income in the creation of those profiles was proved. To conclude, we can say that the income level falls mainly on the variables that define the access possibilities; gender has a special behavior; however, since the profile of the highest level has a double proportion for men, though women have better performance in general terms.

Many types of ecological or environmental problems would benefit from models based on people’s knowledge. To create ecological models with both expert and local people’s knowledge, a multi-step fuzzy cognitive mapping approach is proposed. A cognitive map can be made of almost any system or problem. Cognitive maps are qualitative models of a system, consisting of variables and the causal relationships between those variables. We describe how our cognitive mapping research has been used in real environmental management applications. This research includes examining the perceptions of different stakeholders in an environmental conflict, obtaining the perceptions of different stakeholders to facilitate the development of participatory environmental management plans, and determining the wants and desires for resettlement of people displaced by a large scale dam project. Based on our research, which involved six separate studies, we have found that interviewees complete their cognitive maps in 40–90 min on average. These maps contain an average of 23±2 S.D. variables with 37±3 S.D. connections. People generally put more forcing functions into their maps than utility variables. Fuzzy cognitive mapping offers many advantages for ecological modeling including the ability to include abstract and aggregate variables in models, the ability to model relationships which are not known with certainty, the ability to model complex relationships which are full of feedback loops, and the ease and speed of obtaining and combining different knowledge sources and of running different policy options.

The management of cotton yield behavior in agricultural areas is a very important task because it influences and specifies the cotton yield production. An efficient knowledge-based approach utilizing the method of fuzzy cognitive maps (FCMs) for characterizing cotton yield behavior is presented in this research work. FCM is a modelling approach based on exploiting knowledge and experience. The novelty of the method is based on the use of the soft computing method of fuzzy cognitive maps to handle experts’ knowledge and on the unsupervised learning algorithm for FCMs to assess measurement data and update initial knowledge. The advent of precision farming generates data which, because of their type and complexity, are not efficiently analyzed by traditional methods. The FCM technique has been proved from the literature efficient and flexible to handle experts’ knowledge and through the appropriate learning algorithms can update the initial knowledge. The FCM model developed consists of nodes linked by directed edges, where the nodes represent the main factors in cotton crop production such as texture, organic matter, pH, K, P, Mg, N, Ca, Na and cotton yield, and the directed edges show the cause–effect (weighted) relationships between the soil properties and cotton field. The proposed method was evaluated for 360 cases measured for three subsequent years (2001, 2003 and 2006) in a 5 ha experimental cotton yield. The proposed FCM model enhanced by the unsupervised nonlinear Hebbian learning algorithm, was achieved a success of 75.55%, 68.86% and 71.32%, respectively for the years referred, in estimating/predicting the yield between two possible categories (“low” and “high”). The main advantage of this approach is the sufficient interpretability and transparency of the proposed FCM model, which make it a convenient consulting tool in describing cotton yield behavior.

We propose fuzzy cognitive maps, a branch of fuzzy logic, to study interaction of factors affecting processes and details of the approach are discussed. Application of the technique to discriminate between factors affecting slurry rheology is demonstrated. It has been shown that hydrodynamic interaction, effective particle concentration, shape and size, temperature and shear rate have a significant influence on the slurry viscosity. The complex interaction of the various factors delineated by previous workers is also presented.

The EU Water Framework Directive requires the involvement and participation of stakeholders and the public, and considers full cost recovery for water services for enhancing the sustainability of water resource management. The Directive is non prescriptive as to how public participation should be operationalised in practice, and Member States appear to be adopting different participatory practices. This study explores the issue of public participation in the context of the Pinios River Basin in Greece, a pilot area for the WFD implementation. The study uses Fuzzy Cognitive Mapping, a form of qualitative modeling linked to stakeholders' perceptions. Fuzzy Cognitive Mapping has been used to elicit stakeholder and public perceptions on the current state and pressures on water resources and the acceptability of applying economic principles in water resource management. Based on these perceptions, different water management policy options have been simulated in order to explore their potential effects on the water resources and the economy of the area. The study outlines public and stakeholder perceptions on the application of full cost recovery for water services and offers a perspective on the potential contribution of Fuzzy Cognitive Mapping in participatory river basin management.
