Abstract

Conservation of Leopard is one of the important measures in sustaining the natural ecosystem; it becomes more prudent for urban areas like Guwahati city, where the forest is ever becoming more fragmented. Recent developments and the growth of population in and around the city have conspicuously altered the land use land cover (LULC). Thereby resulting in shrinking the Leopard habitat. The contracting habitat brought Humans and Leopards into increasing contact. Thus, putting both of them at competing for space and in turn at greater stress. The study was to analyzes the LULC changes and its impact on leopard habitat as well as the pattern of Human-Leopard Conflict (HLC). Further, it attempts to identify conservation priority sites for the Leopard habitat
