... The urban green space (UGS) advantages for climate adaptation are usually linked to their ability to mitigate the effect of extreme precipitation and temperatures. Energetic adaptation will also demand the improvement of stormwater runoff management, water capture and accumulation, flood prevention, etc (Bilous, 2019;Samoilenko et al., 2020). ...

The goal of this study is to find the locations of critical deficiency or absence of urban green space (UGS) in Kyivin order to determine the locations of priority UGS planning and mitigate climate change effects. To achieve thisgoal, we found actual UGS areas within Kyiv limits, analysed their spatial distribution and calculated the greenerylevels in each of the ten districts in the capital. Using QGIS tools, we calculated the geometric UGS characteristicsand processed 3,548 contours within city limits. Based on own calculations, we built a map chart of Kyiv UGSand filled it in with relevant information. Since the UGS distribution in different Kyiv districts is very uneven, asignificant indictor of protection of inhabitants from adverse climate change effects is the population density andsize with respect to the greenery level. Then we also found the average UGS provision per person and detectedsignificant differences even in some neighbouring districts. By comparing the results of calculating the greenerylevel and the provision of green spaces with the location of heat islands in Kyiv, we obtained precise sites ofcritical exposure of population to climate change effects. The map chart that was built based on these data canserve as a guide for priority UGS planning to protect Kyiv inhabitants from heat waves and heat stress.

The English-Ukrainian textbook deals with the methodological foundations and applied aspects of designing geographic information systems (GIS). General approaches and technologies are considered regarding: basic (initial) and strate-gic GIS designing, GIS software and hardware designing, and operation and fi-nal GIS designing with examples of developing GIS of the transboundary Dan-ube River Basin. Textbook is intended for students of higher education and teachers of natu-ral, primarily geographic, specialties of universities and higher education institu-tions, as well as scientists and specialists who apply geographic information technologies in the scope of environment preservation and recovery, taking into account international environmental cooperation.

Samoilenko V., Dibrova I. Assessment of landscape anthropization: textbook (electronic version, in English). Kyiv: Nika-Tsentr, 2023. 320 p. The conceptual foundations and tools concerning the procedure of anthropization ex-tent analysis for landscapes and physical-geographic taxons are presented. The proce-dure is interoperable for pan-European and Ukrainian approaches. The categorical-classified scheme of the landscape anthropization extent depending on the anthropogenic impact extent of land use and/or land cover (LULC) systems is considered. This impact is specified by the corresponding degrees of hemeroby, impact intensity, geoecological positivity / negativity and naturalness of LULC systems. The non-linear parameterized by septiles scale of landscapes' anthropization extent is constructed. The generalized scales of anthropization extent for terrestrial and aqua-terrestrial landscapes are given. The scale of geoecological situation in land use is formed. The procedure has been im-plemented for mixed and broad-leaved forests and forest-steppe zones with modeling and complex analysis of the anthropization extent for physic-geographic taxons at the megaregional, regional, sub-regional and district levels. The presented analytical ap-proaches can be implemented in regional schemes and projects of nature management for its optimization and implementation of effective environmental measures, in particu-lar, in the post-war period. These measures should be aimed at regulating the anthropo-genic load on landscapes in order to reduce it, considering the transboundary dimension. Textbook is intended for students and lectures of natural, first of all geographic, spe-cialties at universities and higher education institutions, as well as specialists in the scope of conservation and recovery of the environment based on the optimization of re-source use, taking into account international environmental cooperation.
