Abstract

A new book series presents a modern revision of the Coleophoridae taxa from Hungarian collections. In the first volume the authors revised the Coleophoridae collection of the Carpathian Basin housed in the Hungarian Natural History Museum. The genitalia examinations were carried out by Ignac Richter, checking and when necessary correcting previous determinations. Then the collecting data were recorded in an Excel worksheet and all the specimens received an identification label plus the label what shows the unique digit corresponding the specimen in the electronic database. The curatorial and data sing works were done by Ferenc Buschmann.

... The Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest (HNHM) harbours 13 specimens of Coleophora magyarica and 5 specimens of Coleophora tyrrhaenica (Buschmann & Richter 2016). Recently, several collecting events were organised in Fülöpháza (Bács-Kiskun County), Tápióság (Pest County), and Tokaj (Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County) by the authors; during these, larval cases of Coleophora species were collected from Kochia laniflora and Kochia prostrata in the two former localities, and from Atriplex oblongifolia Waldst. ...
... Distribution -It has so far been found in Europe: Hungary, Romania, Russia (European part up to Manych Lowland), Slovakia, and Ukraine (Rennwald & Rodeland 2023). In Hungary, it has been known from Fülöpháza, Izsák, Bugac, Ágasegyháza and Nagykáta (all from Bács-Kiskun County) based on the specimens found in the HNHM (Buschmann & Richter 2016). The knowledge on its distribution is extended with the following localities by our recent collecting activities (Fig. 1) Adult -Wingspan 12-14 mm (Figs 2-3). ...
... Coleophora tyrrhaenica Amsel, 1952 (Figs 1, 8-10) Distribution -It has so far been found in Europe: France (excluding Corsica), Greece (mainland and near-mainland islands), Hungary, Italy (mainland, Sardinia, and small islands near the mainland), North Macedonia, Romania, Russia (European part up to Manych Lowland), Slovakia, Switzerland, and Ukraine (Rennwald & Rodeland 2023, Richter 2017. In Hungary, it was previously found in some localities of the Danube-Tisza Interfluve: in the vicinities of Fót (Pest County), Ágasegyháza, and Tompa (Bács-Kiskun County), represented by altogether five specimens in HNHM (Buschmann & Richter 2016). In the present study, we report the species from Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County: Tokaj, 10.VIII.2021. ...

Coleophora absinthii Wocke, 1877 is represented in the Hungarian Natural History Museum by only one voucher specimen from Hungary. The species was collected for the first time in 1952 from Hungary but, in spite of several publications reporting it as a frequent species, no specimen of C. absinthii has been deposited in the museum since its first record. We found the species between 2018 and 2020 in six new Hungarian localities. The tubular case, the case made of flowers, the adult, the genitalia and the distribution map of the species are presented.
... In the last few years Ignác Richter, while revising the Coleophora species of Hungary, prepared several thousand genitalia slides but did not fi nd a Hungarian specimen of C. juncicolella in HNHM (Buschmann & Richter 2016). ...

Although the collection of the Hungarian Natural History Museum (Budapest) does not house any specimens of Coleophora juncicolella Stainton, 1851 from Hungary, several works have treated this species as resident since its first report in 1952. We found this species at three new localities in 2017 and 2018. The case is illustrated and a map of distribution in Hungary is given. With 2 figures.

We report seven species of the family Coleophoridae (Gelechioidea) for the first time in Korea: Coleophora clypeiferella Hofmann, 1871; C. kamchatica (Anikin, 1999); C. lativittella Erschoff, 1877; C. levantis Baldizzone & Oku, 1988; C. parthenica Meyrick, 1891; C. uliginosella Glitz, 1872; and C. vacciniella Herrich-Schäffer, 1861. Diagnostic characteristics, redescription, and biological information based on previous research by various authors for each of the seven species are provided. Additionally, we include two species, C. montaniella Oku & Kusunoki, 2018, and C. artemisicolella Bruand, 1855, which were not included in the Korean checklist of the family due to an oversight, despite evidence of their distribution in Korea, and exclude two species, C. ulmivorella Oku, 1965, and C. yomogiella Oku, 1974, which turned out to be misidentified. Consequently, with these updates, the total number of known Korean species has been confirmed to be 43 species, an increase from the previously identified 36 species. Furthermore, high-resolution photographs are also provided for 22 species among the previously known 36 species.

The Coleophora frischella-species group, which includes eight Hungarian species, is revised the authors. Many records of several Hungarian species are based misidentification, erroneous, or unreliable locality data. Recent research has not confirmed of some species its presence but presumably many specimens are wrongly labelled. Those keys based on external characters are given for all species. He analyzed the habitats and the Hungarian distribution of the species. Three species new to the fauna of Hungary: Coleophora paramayrella Nel, 1993; Coleophora aleramica Baldizzone & Stübner, 2007; Coleo-phora variicornis Toll, 1952. Text in Hungarian with 29 figures.

Coleophora variicornis Toll, 1952 formerly treated as a synonym of C. hieronella Zeller, 1849 is recognised as a distinct species after investigation of the type specimens. Diagnoses are given to distin-guish these two species from the other members of the Coleophora trifolii species group and to distinguish C. variicornis from C. hieronella. Their external and genitalia features are described and figured. According to our investigations, C. variicornis is known by specimens from Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Germany, Italy, Macedonia, Turkey, and Turkmenistan. Coleophora variicornis is recorded for the first time from Central Europe by specimens collected in historical and recent times from the German state of Brandenburg. Coleophora hieronella is so far known from Spain, France, Italy (Sicily), and Croatia. K e y wo r d s . Coleophora trifolii species group, variicornis, hieronella, taxonomy, nomenclature.

The Coleophora frischella-species group, which includes 23 species, is revised. Three new species are described: C. aleramica Baldizzone & Stübner sp. n. Hübner, 1825 (Lepidoptera: Yponomeutidae: Ar gy resthiinae). The male and female genitalia are illustrated for most of the species of the group, and for the fi rst time for the genitalia of both sexes for C. cuprariella, the male genitalia for C. angustiorella Fuchs, 1903, and the female genitalia of C. fuscicornis, C. fuscoaenea Toll, 1952, and C. leucostoma Gerasimov, 1930. The status of C. tuscae-miliella remains uncertain as no fi gures are available and the types are regarded as lost.
