Abstract

Objective. The purpose of the article is to analyze the modern approaches to determining the economic content of information resources and the value of information in social production. Results. Informatization is a global trend in world development of recent decades. It manifests itself in the widespread use of information technology in all areas of public life. According to leading scientists, the rapid expansion of the information space and the availability of information significantly affected social relations, which led to the transition to a new social system, which was called the «information society». The article concludes that, despite differences in the understanding of the genesis of the information society, it is common for the different philosophical paradigms to recognize a qualitatively new level of industrial relations at this stage of social development. This is confirmed by the industry revolution named «Industry 4.0», which is currently taking place in economically developed countries. Industry 4.0 is radically changing the methods of managing productive forces, the focus of which are smart enterprises. The article substantiates that the key management function - the decision-making process - is undergoing major changes. The production of goods and services in smart enterprises is controlled by automated information systems that process and order BigData using artificial intelligence algorithms. The modern 3D decision-making process is based on the structuring, characterization and optimization of quantitative measurements, qualitative estimates and information translated into a single digital format. In such circumstances, the most important factor in the competitiveness of a smart enterprise is the perfection of information systems and technologies, as well as the completeness and reliability of the information processed by them. The article proves that the category «information» is gaining new economic meaning in the information society. It becomes an additional source of value creation, one of the types of economic resources consumed in social production along with capital and labor. Information as a resource has certain properties that require meaningful research within economic theory. In particular, they need to determine the criteria by which certain information can be considered an information resource. The author proposes three attributes, the presence of which in the information allows us to consider it as an economic resource: use in the decision-making process to create economic benefits, the presence of a carrier, the ability to transmit through communication between participants in the decision-making process.
