Global Convergence is a term coined by the scientist and philosopher Foyez Ahmed. Ahmed
elaborated this term in the book ‘Humanization’. Global convergence is an idea of converging
the culture such as food habits, fashion, and lifestyle of global people in a similar direction. Due
to the modern communication system and internet technology, people are now living in a global
village. People are now more close to each other. Nowadays, people around the world are having
similar recipes, dishes, and wearing similar clothes due to internet technology. Global e-
commerce has opened a door to universal shopping for Netizens. As a result, people are moving
toward a unified global taste, choices, and preferences. In his book, Ahmed portrayed a new
world through global convergence.
Ahmed asserts that the global convergence of culture and the habit of people will save the world
economically and ecologically. It is not needed to be produced a variety of goods and services
due to the universal common needs. Global convergence will increase the efficiency of global
production and reduce the wastage of global wealth and resources. It will also minimize the level
global pollution. It will change the landmark of the comparative and competitive advantage of
global production where production will be more centralized in large volumes to the holder of
economies of scale.
