On The Bloch Theorem and Orthogonality Relations

Bloch theorem for a periodic operator is being revisited here, and we notice extra orthogonality relationships. It is shown that solutions are bi-periodic, in the sense that eigenfunctions are periodic with respect to one argument, and pseudo-periodic with respect to the other. An additional kind of symmetry between r-space and k-space exists between the envelope and eignfunctions not apparently ... [Show full abstract] noticed before, which allows to define new invertible modified Wannier functions. As opposed to the Wannier functions in r-space, these modified Wannier functions are defined in the k-spaces, but satisfy similar basic properties. These could result in new algorithms and other novel applications in the computational tools of periodic structures.

In this article we present some calculations using the same arguments in combination with a theorem of [2] on good groups in the sense of Hopkins-KuhnRavenel. In particular, we consider the groups G36, G37, each isomorphic to a semidirect product (C4 × C2 × C2) ⋊ C2, the group G34 ∼= (C4 × C4) ⋊ C2 and its non-split version G35. For these groups the action of C2 is diagonal, i.e., simpler than for the groups G38, · · · , G41, however the rings K(s)∗(BG) have the same complexity.

A Longitudinal Examination of Wants-Out-of-Life Among Mid-Life Adults

The purpose of this study was to examine change and stability in values among mid-life adults over time. Using longitudinal data from A Study of Leisure During Adulthood, values were measured using Kahle's List of Values. Lexicographic product decompositions of cyclically ordered groups

Roughly speaking, the relation between cyclically ordered groups and dc-groups is analogous to the relation between partially ordered groups and directed groups. In the present paper it will be proved that any two lexicographic product decompositions of a dc-group have isomorphic refinements. This generalizes the main theorem of [1] concerning finite lexicographic product decompositions of a dc-group. Analogous results on lexicographic product decompositions of linearly ordered groups, directed groups or directed groupoids were proved by Malcev [5], Fuchs [2] and the author [3], respectively. The methods which have been used [3] will be adapted and applied in the present paper.
