Through two life histories of riverine teachers, this article reflects on teaching that happens in the context of Guajará Archipelago, in Belém of Pará, Brazil. It points out common features between those life histories as sexual violence during childhood, poverty, and schooling in order to demonstrate that teaching cannot be thought out of a wider context of women's constitution. It argues that the women status in this region has historically performed singular possibilities that explain how and why girls who were excluded from the school world for a long period turned into teachers. It demonstrates how being a teacher joins to the social processes of the riverine space, ensuring a whole interrelation process.

Resumo A associação professor-estresse é examinada no contexto educacional. O estresse do professor está relacionado a variáveis do meio acadêmico, de fora da escola e do professor. O impacto desta associação influi na saúde do professor, no seu desempenho e na qualidade do processo ensino-aprendizagem. Com o objetivo de apresentar uma perspectiva de como a matéria está sendo considerada na literatura internacional, foi analisada a produção arrolada na base bibliográfica PsycArticle, de 1987 a 2002. Somente 28 artigos consideraram a relação professor-estresse. Eles foram analisados quanto aos indicadores de progresso científico: autoria, tipo de trabalho e área específica de conteúdo. Há poucas pesquisas na área, elas são descritivas e produzidas por grupos de pesquisadores. Palavras-chave: Qualidade de vida; Educação; Grupo de pesquisa. Abstract In the educational context it is examined the teacher-stress association. The teacher's stress is related with variables of academic environment, of out of the school and of the teacher. The impact of that association can be see in the teacher's health, in his achievement and in the quality of the teaching-learning process. With the objective to present one view of how issue is being considered in international literature it is focused the production presented in the bibliographic base PsycArticle, from 1987 until 2002. Only 28 papers considered the relation teacher-stress. They were analyzed in relation to the progress indicators: authorship, kind of work and specific content area. There are few research in the area, they are descriptives and produced by scientists' groups.

The purpose of this paper was to verify the relationship between body adiposity and physical activity indicators (IAF) in adolescents during summer vacation. The research was carried out from December (1998) to February (1999). In order to obtain IAF data (Heart Rate - FC, Body Movements - VM, and Relative Energy Consumption - GER) we made use of an FC monitor, Tritac R3D, and Bouchard's protocol et al., 1983. Data related to adiposity indicators (Body Mass Index - IMC, and the sum of Triceps plus Subscapular Skinfolds - DCTR+SB) was obtained using scales (0.50g precision), a tape measure, and skinfold calipers (Lange, 1mm precision). Research data were collected from 28 male students, aged 14 or 15 years. The sample was divided into two groups according to the variables DCTR+SB and IMC (G1 - minor adiposity index and G2 - major adiposity index). Data on IAF was collected on three nonconsecutive days (two weekdays and one day of the weekend) from 8 am to 8 pm (FC and VM), and from midnight to midnight (GER). Com o objetivo de iniciar a descrição de um estado da arte este texto reúne pesquisas até então esparsas da área da educação infantil (primeira etapa da educação básica) que analisam as relações de poder entre meninas e meninos de 0 a 6 anos que freqüentam, por longas horas do dia, creches e pré-escolas; entre elas e eles e as profissionais predominantemente do sexo feminino, por opção de suas mães (e às vezes também de seus pais) e investigam também as relações de poder entre essas mulheres adultas. O texto mostra que também por trazer a criançada, principalmente as pequenas, para assumir seu papel na construção da realidade, a luta feminista é grande responsável pelas modificações sociais da gestão do tempo cotidiano.

This article aims to identify the degree and symptoms of stress that occur in accounting professionals, relating them with individual and professional factors. In reviewing the literature we attempted to discuss the concepts of stress, its phases and symptoms. We used the stress model developed by Lipp (2003), performing the descriptive and statistical analysis using Microsoft Excel and SPSS. The results were: 50% of the professionals have no stress; 35% are in the resistance phase; and 13% are in exhaustion. In short, the stress of accountants is similar and approaches the presented in the literature; the predominant symptoms were the physical ones.
