In this study, the solid waste in Tehran (the location where disposal of municipal waste is accomplished) is used as the experimental sample. Sampling was done in summer 2014, samples were transported to laboratory then 2 types of food waste and waste passed through drum separation, were experimented in 90 days. Physical parameters such as weight, volume, density, pH, moisture, C:N ratio and the
... [Show full abstract] output leachate volume were measured. During the experiment, temperature, pH and rate of aeration (oxygen) was not monitored and Moisture was the only factor monitored during the process.
The results showed that waste volume at the end of the 90-day process was 58.3% and 53.57% and the density was 197.22 and 182.35 in food and mixed waste, respectively. On the other hand, in the first 14 days the rate of moisture in food and mixed waste masses made a reduction of 35% and 24.95%, respectively. The density of food and mixed samples at the beginning were measured 457.73 and 374.87 g.l-1, and the moisture was 6.34 and 51.58 (%wt.), respectively.
