Signum-Gordon wave equation and its self-similar solutions

We investigate self-similar solutions of evolution equation of a (1+1)-dimensional field model with the V-shaped potential

The arbitrary functions provide us with enough freedom to discuss the behaviors of solutions. As an illustrative example, new spatial structures of two solutions are shown. Compared with the most existing F-expansion methods, the new generalized F-expansion method gives not only more general exact solutions but also new formal exact solutions. Explicit exact solutions for the generalized combined KdV and MKdV equation

With the aid of Mathematica and Wu-elimination method, via using a new generalized ansatz and well-known Riccati equation, thirty-two families of explicit and exact solutions for the generalized combined KdV and mKdV equation are obtained, which contain new solitary wave solutions and periodic wave solutions. This approach can also be applied to other nonlinear evolution equations.

We consider initial-boundary problems for general linear first-order strictly hyperbolic systems with local or nonlocal nonlinear boundary conditions. While boundary data are supposed to be smooth, initial conditions can contain distributions of any order of singularity. In both cases, we say that a solution is smoothing if it eventually becomes k-times continuously differentiable for each k. Our main result is a criterion allowing us to determine whether or not the solution is smoothing. In particular, we prove a rather general smoothingness result in the case of classical boundary conditions.

The double elliptic equation method is presented for constructing exact traveling wave solutions of nonlinear partial differential equations. With the aid of Maple, more new exact solutions are obtained for the (n+1)-dimensional sinh-Gordon equation. These solutions contain logarithmic functions, Jacobi elliptic functions, hyperbolic functions, trigonometric functions, and their combinations.
