Increasing life expectancy and other demographic changes affect labor market and it's demographic. In this context, the aim of this paper is to examine an age management issues in education organization. Considering on it, this paper presents a brief literature review of managing an ageing workforce. The literature review involves analysis of older workers position in the labor market, active ageing concept and age management features. Based on theoretical analysis of managing the ageing workforce empirical research was provided. Results show that investigated organization should pay greater attention to workplace characteristics improvement, especially to job design and ergonomics.

Demographic changes and labor market challenges highlight the importance of lifelong learning and development for all employees. The current study analyzes the factors that may influence managers’ propensity to offer older workers different kinds of training (specific or general). To investigate this question, a vignette study among 153 managers in Dutch organizations was conducted. Managers were randomly assigned into one of the four experimental conditions that involve a decision regarding specific or general training (aimed at internal or external mobility). The results suggest that managers perceive training incidences as a tool to increase productivity of older workers who perform well and are highly motivated, and far less as a tool to increase productivity of workers who need updating their human capital. The implication of these results is discussed.

Demographic aging trends will have consequences concerning the general population, the composition of the workforce and the shortage of some skills in the near future. The aim of this study is to explore what the HRM practices are that workers identify in their organizations, as well as the importance they attach to each of these practices, according to their age.

This paper applies a social exchange perspective to understand the internal contingencies of the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation (EO) and performance. It focuses on two aspects of social interactions among functional managers (procedural justice and trust), as well as on their organizational commitment, as potential enhancements to the firm's successful exploitation of entrepreneurial opportunities. A study of 232 Canadian-based firms finds several positive moderating effects: The EO-performance link is stronger for higher levels of procedural justice, trust, and organizational commitment. In addition, consistent with a systems approach to organizational contingencies, the EO-performance relationship is stronger when the organization's social context comes closer to an "ideal" configuration of procedural justice, trust, and organizational commitment that is most conducive to knowledge exchange within the organization. The study's implications and future research directions are discussed.

Although studies have suggested that having multiple roles is beneficial to well-being in Western society, little is known about the effect of multiple roles in non-Western subjects. We explored predictive factors contributing to well-being, focusing on multiple roles, among elderly Chinese subjects. A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 356 adults aged 60 and older who retired from one university and lived in urban China; participants completed a self-administered questionnaire and returned it by mail. Well-being, the dependent variable, was measured by the Satisfaction with Life Scale. Independent variables included demographics, physical health, financial status, self-efficacy, and the number and frequency of multiple roles. Gender-segregated multiple linear regression analyses were performed. For males, factors related to better well-being were older age, absence of chronic diseases, better financial status, higher self-efficacy, absence of conflict with others, and having grandchildren. For females, factors relating to better well-being were absence of severe illness of a significant other, absence of conflict with others, more roles, more contact with neighbors, and engaging in more group and personal recreational activities. In conclusion, our results highlight predictive factors contributing to well-being among elderly Chinese subjects, and indicate the presence of gender differences. In terms of multiple roles, having more roles, having more contact with neighbors, and engaging in more group activities were significantly related to better well-being for women, but not for men; having grandchildren was significantly related to better well-being for men, but not for women. It is necessary to consider gender when providing livelihood support to elderly Chinese subjects.

The purpose of this research is to carry out a comparative analysis of organizational factors that facilitate knowledge sharing and business process, ultimately contributing to the improvement of organizational performance. The literature considers knowledge sharing a key factor for driving innovation as well as the organization's business performance, as both explicit and tacit knowledge sharing promotes a novel robust approach for business-knowledge process. This research explores the application of fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis as a set-theoretic comparative analysis approach to investigate the relationships between knowledge sharing, business process, and organizational performance through the identification of key organizational operation factors. Based on empirical data collected from 28 cases, the analysis results demonstrate the important role of organizational operation factors in knowledge sharing and business-knowledge process, which directly contribute to the improvement of organizational performance.

This study investigates how knowledge sharing (KS) contributes to firm performance (FP) through the enhancement of innovation and/or intellectual capital (IC) using data collected from Chinese high-technology firms. The paper proposes three alternative models that suggest different mediating roles of innovation and IC components in the KS. →. FP nomological network based on existing theory. The paper then compares these models in terms of in-sample explanatory and out-of-sample predictive powers using consistent partial least squares path modeling (PLSc). Results indicate that in the best performing model, innovation and IC simultaneously mediate the relationship between KS and FP in this specific context. The findings offer insights regarding the parallel mediation roles of innovation and IC in the KS. →. FP process, showcase the predictive utility of PLSc, and can help managers set priorities when leveraging KS to achieve specific performance goals.

ABSTRACT Using data collected from executives in 208 organizations, this study takes a configurational approach to examine how human, social, and organizational capital coexist to form distinct intellectual capital profiles across organizations. We then examine how investments in human resource management (HRM), information technology (IT), and research and development (R&D) differ across these intellectual capital profiles and investigate differences in financial returns and Tobin's q between the profiles. Results indicate that a relatively small group of superior performing organizations exhibit high levels of human, social, and organizational capital. Most firms, however, tend to focus primarily on only one form of intellectual capital, and a small group of underperforming organizations have very low levels of all three types of intellectual capital. At a general level, HRM and IT investments appear to influence intellectual capital development more than R&D investments. More specifically, HRM investments tend to be higher in firms with profiles high in human and social capital, while IT investments are stronger in firms with profiles high in social capital. Further, HRM, IT, and R&D investments are all very high in the group of superior performing organizations that have high levels of human, social, and organizational capital.
