Why?: The Gap & Potential Impact
All universities currently measure the skills
of individual students through many types of
assessments at the unit level
Currently publish at the course level domain
knowledge specific scores within the
academic transcripts,
However, there is no student records
published related to the
Key ICT skills gained by the
individual students
During their entire course.
Universities
Provide an Audit trail of assessments
and immutable evidence of skills and
knowledge gained by the students
Can improve course, units and
assessment designs and enhance
individual learning outcomes
Students
Awareness and evidence for gained
skills and knowledge
Employers
Ease the selection process
Potentially reduce costs of hiring and
training university graduates

Aim & Objectives
Aim
This project aims to
“design and deliver a prototype solution to
establish a Digital trail of ICT authentic
assessments with the novel use of blockchain”
Objectives
a) Apply and obtain the research ethics and
complete the literature review for selection of
the Blockchain implementation Model for the
Digital Trail of ICT Authentic Assessments in 3
months from the start of the project
b) Plan, Design, Develop and Implement
Blockchain components over 4 increments
during Semester 2 of 2020 and Semester 1
2021)
c) Publish the key learnings in top tier Learning
and Teaching Journal and present the findings
at the ACDICT Annual Committee Meeting
(July 2021)

Scope & Deliverables
Scope
1. Set up the Ethics process for conducting an action
design research program
2. Evaluate and select the most suitable blockchain
implementation (private, public or Hybrid)
3. Publish a Higher Education conference paper on the
selection the blockchain model for Higher Education
4. Conduct workshops with ICT course stakeholders
(product owners) for one month
5. Establish a product backlog for the prototype based
on the workshops
6. 6. Plan a set of increments and prioritize the features
to be delivered in each increment
7. Develop and implement the features across the
planned increments.
8. Evaluate the outcomes and publish a journal paper
on “Digital Trail of ICT Authentic Assessments with
Blockchain use” in June 2021
Deliverables
1. A blockchain prototype to store and publish “Digital
Trail of ICT Authentic Assessments” for all ICT
students
2. Use case Development Guidelines for Blockchain
Experimentations in Education sector
3. Publish the project learnings and outcomes with two
Publications (1 Journal and 1 Conference)
