Abstract

To compensate for a reduction in physical meetings in municipality-based home health care due to social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic, digital forms of communication and meetings (ICT) could be considered an alternative. The purpose of this study was to explore the use of ICT-based meetings in relation to (i) possibilities/challenges, (ii) time use and (iii) economical perspectives. A brief feasibility study was conducted by two occupational therapists working with clients in need for support with managing daily activities due to neuropsychiatric diagnoses. The results indicated that ICT-based meetings can be an alternative to IRL meetings when both staff and clients manage the technology required. The results indicate that ICT-based meeting can provide a resource-efficient use of resources saving both time for staff and clients as well as reducing transportation. Thus, the use of ICT-based meetings also has an environmental impact related to reduced emissions.
